In Tails, if somehow the OS gets compromised, and the attacker manages to escalate priviledges (because you enabled a weak root password for example) then the attacker could bypass Tor and see deanonymize the user. Whonix takes a different aproach which is to use two virtual machines: one that acts as a Tor gateway and firewall, and another that is the workstation. If the workstation gets compromised, it should not be possible for the attacker to bypass the firewall.
If you disable javascript you'll loose functionality in most modern websites. This means having a good ad blocker is the go-to option if you want to use websites that aren't 10+ years old.
It's Tor, it isn't meant to access to the normal internet. Basically, in the deep web most websites look like 2000's sites, and they barely use JS (why would you need it when it only shows CP videos/pics or plain text?).
You clearly never used tor and don't know what it's mostly for. "Browse Privately. Explore Freely." is literally their motto. It's not made JUST to access the deep web, IT CAN be used for that, but it is, ultimately, a browser that access an encrypted open network that routes data through multiple servers while encrypting all the way through, preserving your identity, data and ultimately your privacy, while allowing people from 'strict countries' to access content from the outside.
@@gomescodes5546 So, the 3 "VPN"'s of the browser are always used, even when just accessing normal websites through TOR? And, btw, don't jump to conclusions: I do use TOR, but not for protecting my privacy in any way, I just access deep web sites occassionally, so never really had the need to inform myself on the security/privacy standards it has for accessing the normal web.
@@hasher9360 You just said Deep Web only has CP and plain text, and that you're a user. Kappa. While using Tor you're AT LEAST connected through the Onion network. @@tylerdean980 Yes, installing TAILS as a virtual machine would likely use disk space (the same space that would be used when installing TAILS on a flash drive). Once TAILS loads, it runs 100% in RAM (the files you see are on a RAM disk). But for those that will try TAILS natively (installing and running from a flash drive), they should know that disk space is meaningless (short of creating optional, persistent storage).

It would be bad enough if it was just about the money but the worst part is the increased stress of knowing that they will be there to ruin me if I happen to not know about any tiny detail about their gigantic bureaucracy. My sanity can't handle much of that. And on top of all that there is always the risk of cryptocurrencies being banned or "REGULATED FOR OUR SAFETY". I guess the best investment is to not rely on money so you don't pay taxes, because fuck everyone involved in government, even indirectly.
Can you make a review of Whonix later on, or perhaps Whonix over Qubes.
Cant wait till they add Monero GUI wallet or Feather. There was Rumours about it being in the new update but it was wrong :(
po files are language files for software like WordPress, so that's why it's under programming

You're never directly connecting to a website, hence your IP and location are never compromised. Because it connects through different "routing" each time.
Imagine not having programs in their own individual sandboxed vms.

This isn't being nerdy about tech, it's being nerdy about avoiding glowies lmao.

My ex partner, who is studying Software engineering, was a fans of tails. They’re not particularly part of the “mentally sane” category of people, so their use of tails was worrisome for me, as they kept it private and I was aware of their fucked up mentality, warped moral perception and not so legal likings.
I feel safe to say that it is a realistically secure distro. XD
I also tried and set it up for myself, but never around to use it.

I wish you would have covered the dot files and persistent wallpapers and such, I haven’t been able to find any good documentation on this.
The thumbnails are fire
@5:22 "...and then you don't really need to give it a lot of disk space.."
You do not need to give it any disk space, whatsoever (unless you choose to create persistent storage).
You can run TAILS on a computer that has no hard drive (no SSD).
Maybe he had to because he was running on a virtual machine
@@tylerdean980 Yes, installing TAILS as a virtual machine would likely use disk space (the same space that would be used when installing TAILS on a flash drive).
Once TAILS loads, it runs 100% in RAM (the files you see are on a RAM disk).
But for those that will try TAILS natively (installing and running from a flash drive), they should know that disk space is meaningless (short of creating optional, persistent storage).
@@NoEgg4u Yes, the ability to use on a PC that doesn't even have a HDD is a real peace of mind I imagine for those that really need maximum security.
@@NoEgg4u actually, you don’t need any disk space if you are loading from a virtual machine either, because you will load it directly from the ISO. What he did was really unnecessary.
What if you run out of ram? What would happen with no page file?
I made a bootable years ago, and I accidentally wiped my entire drive. What really sucked was the drive was reformatted in a way that I couldn’t reinstall windows onto it. Ended up using Ubuntu till I got a new drive, since there was no way to reformat the drive via Ubuntu.
Next time disconnect the drive that you don't want to format
So this is usually a total disconnect issue via software. Likely converted to RAW and had no binding available within Windows for you to know what to do. Device manager & Diskpart are your friends.
There is only one thing that bothers me, the fact that switching language shortcut doesn't work 😢
Love to strt linux mint usb live in the college computers. But Amigggooo, TAILs is daam crazy.
Ah, well yes. I do kind of remember the last time I used tails, but only just barely.
I love the 'SHEEEIT' on the thumbnail.

truth be told, I have nothing to hide, but I want to hide the nothing.
As I understand it, Tails can be installed to have persistence, although I could be wrong. I always run Linux from a USB drive and want my changes to be saved. I would also like to be able to easily create a usable clone of my boot USB. Recommendations and suggestions? Thanks.
Is puppy still a thing? I used to use that too. Thinking of going back to tails.
Heads is a fully free version of Tails, some of y'all might enjoy that instead.

I've started moving from KDE to dwm

Did you try some of the immutable Linux OS yet? NixOS, Fedora Silverblue, openSUSE MicroOS?
This is perfect to use as remote access for a crypto wallet.
Oh God... I'm going to get drone striked just for watching this video...
the unsafe browser is probably just a debugging tool for if tor isnt working or something
As a daily driver for a vm would tails work if i just boot it from vmware and tweak it to how i like. Or is there an easier way to get tight security, without setting everything manually.
Hey Kenny, how about you do a fork of Tails with what you think are good changes to make and call it the Highly Encrypted Anonymous Desktop System?
