A Walk Along the Boardwalk to Laguna Point at MacKerricher State Park
To reach MacKerricher State Park from Fort Bragg, head north on California State Route 1 (CA-1) for approximately three miles. Turn left onto MacKerricher Park Road, which leads directly into the park.
The boardwalk at MacKerricher State Park stretches for about 0.6 miles and provides a comfortable and accessible route to Laguna Point.
Visitors often see harbor seals resting on the rocks and various seabirds flying overhead. At Laguna Point, the boardwalk expands to a viewing platform with wide ocean views. This is a prime spot for observing marine life, including dolphins and, during migration seasons, gray whales. Tide pooling at low tide reveals sea stars, anemones, and crabs.
The return journey is equally straightforward and provides an excellent opportunity to enjoy the coastal scenery, especially at sunset. This boardwalk is an ideal way to explore the natural beauty and wildlife of MacKerricher State Park.

It's changed a lot since I moved here. There is a full whale skeleton displayed at the entrance!
