OMG that ending seriously in the end make it look as though the player is the real bad guy while the other bosses were just trying to defend their world.
Personally I see a lot that Contra eventually drew inspiration from as well. I had to double check and make sure that this did actually come out before Contra 3
In addition to what Darwin there's talking about, there was also generally this physical black border made up of... something, I'm not sure what, that I think was meant to help hold the screen in? I have no idea what it was or what it was for, but that also would easily block off a few rows/columns of pixels behind the black. (I haven't owned a CRT in like 9 years; I forgot a lot >3>)
I always did enjoy the little plot twist myself (though SNK always did have a weird thing for sudden downer-or-ambiguous endings in that period for some reason). Also, Shadow doesn't show it, but another interesting thing about this game is that you can actually pick up an arsenal of special weapons, but VERY unusually for this genre, you have limited ammo for all of them, but you can also keep them all simultaneously and switch between them at will if you want to save your ammo (the "reloading magazine" rooms boost you back to max ammo for all your weapons if you were wondering what that was about). One more point of interest is that the final stage with the eight rooms is actually a sort of pseudo-boss rush; six rooms each have a boss you've fought already, and the remaining two are made up of one reload room and the final boss's room - but you have no idea which of the eight is which, and I'm actually not sure if it's randomized or if the game just doesn't hint what's where. As Shadow shows, it's entirely possible to just go straight to the final boss and not have to re-fight anything.
I love your videos, Serg, but I have a question - why do you sometimes do sequels before the originals? Like, will you get around to Alpha Mission 1? And if I may throw out another recommendation, how about Lightning Fighters/Trigon? I can’t seem to find a boss rush video of that one.

Armed Police Batrider (arcade), please
One of the best plot twists in arcade games.

Player: I have been helping the real enemy the whole time????
"Are we the baddies?"
Megaman X command Missions is the same way i hate when they fucking force you to play the villain.
Nah, the president just didnt want any obstacles in his way so he can take over Earth for himself
"I am not INSAIN"
Also nice twist at the end.
Was wondering why the game was called Cyber Lip, then hit 7:49 and it all made sense. Name is perfect. 😂 That ending was epic too.
This was Neo Geo's answer to Contra. A very good gem too.
Nah, they had Metal Slug

10:05 That escalated quickly😮
That ending actually surprised me 😳
0:34 *what were they thinking when designing that?!*
Drugs always together with them. Lol
@@voltapony75 still, how that managed to get past the censors is beyond me.
@MCstranokevin93 talk about awkward.
I was thinking the Martian mutant named Kuato in the 1990 film: "Total Recall". Both the game and the film came out in the same year, so I dunno.
Cyber-Lip is a pretty odd title but tons of titles were weird back then. Maybe “LIP” is an acronym that sounded cooler to ESL speakers or so-
7:49
gdi
I still wonder how the heck the whole " large boss sprites don't extend all the way to the edge of the screen" thing even happened
old CRT monitors had a weird curve at the end of them so you generally don't see them. But with emulation, you can see them.

30 second in the video and eldrich/Giger ish nightmare fuel. Thx Shadowserg your video are more scary than 99% of horror movies.

Metal Slug Origins
General Morden (Metal Slug) revives the Cyber Lip Program 🤔
I remember seeing this game on Nick Arcade.
Nice
Haha. The green ship spawn a little late when the screen pan to the right.
Have you thought about doing some of the older resident evil games? Anyway awesome job.
This was like the SNK version of Forgotten Worlds. I think SNK should be unlike Capcom, and revive this or give us a sequel
Cool👍
Lol, awesome ending.
What a plot twist
