I'm surprised that WOUXUN hasn't produce a dual service mobile or portable for GMRS and MURS. Having two different services has advantages, especially for those who have no interest in taking the technician exam.
I have 3 of the KG1000G Plus. 2 of them used as a neighborhood repeater. One used as a daily. They are great units. There are some things that need refining.
Not sure why they say it's 50 watts... Mine and two other friends that have them are only putting out 40 watts. I love mine, but that should either be fixed, or quit advertising them as 50 watts
Please update the video on your site to reflect how to set these (the Plus model) as a repeater. The manual is very incomplete in this regard with big omissions. The menus, as you state here, have changed.
Awesome radio from the pool of non-repairable use and throw away radios. Great to throw in your truck, but if your intention is for a repeater save yourself the headache and look into something meant for that.
The live squelch feature mentioned at 11:24 is not true. You must exit the squelch setting to hear the change. This feature is not advertised on the product website, but I sure was surprised it did not work when I received it. The squelch adjustment is the same as all other radios.
The new editions are fine as more towards GMRS language button labels and manual changes. Being a ham radio operator I of course don't care and certainly won't get confused. What I do need is 5 levels of dim on that bright fixed display which when mobile after looking it will desensitize your eyes to look out the window for traffic. As a base it can light up a room when I want a lower level of brightness compared to other radio displays next to it. One option for now is to cut a photography neutral density filter sheet to size and tape it to the display. Not very pretty. Additionally the Wouxun latest handhelds like the KG-935G have awesome dimmable color displays which would be great on the KG-1000G and Plus. Would it cost a little more? Sure. Would customers buy it? You bet. So improvements to squelch and other options are great. Put a color screen on it and Wouxun will probably sell twice as many next year per what they did tis year. Why? Because customers also like pretty displays in their high quality radios. If an update has added at least dimming since this video great. If not I'll wait some more.
I don't know if you guys thought about maybe making a radio that would take the place of the Yasue ft 818 market since they've discontinued that radio, The ft 818 was a great radio for POTA now new hams don't have that opinion anymore , I'm one of them and know a few more just in are CLUB, I think would be very profitable. I already have 2 KG-Uv9Gplus radio and a KG- 1000G plus and I would love to stay in the Wouxum family and buy another radio,If you decide to do that would you let me know. 15- 20 watts HF would be SWEET for PREPAREDNESS in case a disaster or SHTF
RJ-45 mic connector’s suck. There is a reason truck drivers won’t buy a radio that has them. Pin notched screw on front facing connector’s is the only thing that won’t eventually fail under daily use
@@rabbi6225 The backlight cannot have its color changed, dimmed, nor shut off. It must be bright blueish white. The radio is essentially unusable in a car at night. On the other hand, customizable backlight is a feature that's standard on comparable radios for literally decades.
@Buy Two Way Radios has anybody explored some simple static cling screen covers to reduce the backlight glare for nighttime use?? And my only other "wishlist" item, just because I used the KGXS20G first, can the mike be made to select channels without the function button first?
You can still use the hand microphone to transmit while the radios are in repeater mode. You will need to turn this setting on in the menu, though, as it is disabled by default.
I just purchased this model about three weeks ago, have yet to install it but it look very sturdy and well made. My question is, is this radio functional in Mexico? I am thinking about taking a trip there driving and just wanted to knowq if there are any limitations to use this radio over there.
Hi, thanks for your question. The FCC only has jurisdiction over the United States. The safest way to start using a two way radio, especially one that requires a license, would be to check your country's rules and regulations regarding communication.
You may be looking at the original KG-1000G, which has been replaced by the newer model, the KG-1000G Plus, and is available on our site here: www.buytwowayradios.com/wouxun-kg-1000g-plus.html
We have no information as we are not affiliated with the CHIRP development team. The best way to request compatibility would be to contact CHIRP directly. You can find a link to their site on our blog post about it: www.buytwowayradios.com/blog/2016/07/what_to_do_if_chirp_does_not_list_your_radio.html
I see you delete comments when someone mentions the poor receive these radios have. Kinda makes them suck as a repeater, guess that’s why people are dumping these radios.
We don't delete comments on our videos or blog unless they contain spam or obscenities. Customer feedback is important and something we take quite seriously.
We apologize for the error, that should not have happened. We can assure you that we do not resell used products back to customers as new. Like our policy with customer feedback, satisfaction and integrity are important to us as well. Factory errors are more common than one may think, so it is likely that there was a mistake on the production line for your particular unit. I have already called and spoke to one of your employees. I have moved the antenna from 35 feet to 50 feet of separation from the other. Yes I have tried separating the radios and switching the Tx and Rx radios around, why that would matter if the radios are working properly is beyond me. Two QYT 9000 D’s work perfectly on the same setup, the only time it doesn’t work is when your radios are on those antennas. I purchased the XLT duplexer and paid to have it tuned, is it tuned or is it not tuned, who knows there is nothing on it indicating it was. I am sure it’s not a law that you have to put a sticker on it indicating that it was tuned, but everyone else does. The bottom line here is trust, I’ve lost trust in your company. Do I send the radio back only to get sent back another radio someone’s returned ? Do I send the duplexer back to get tuned, who knows if you will actually tune it. If you can’t pay attention to the small things, you certainly can’t handle the rest.
Dull dry presentation that is unlikely to cause enthusiasm for a product. Fortunately in the GMRS community there are plenty of other sources of information and honest appraisal of radios.

The FCC rules specifically prohibit it is the only reason why

I know you guys do not sell them but a mobile version of the KG-UV9GX would be a nice radio in my opinion.
They are more like 40 watts on UHF. 50 watts would be if they transmitted on VHF. Anyone who put it on a meter got around 40 watts output.

My favorite brand.
I heave Hand held radio KG UV 9GX👍👍👍
Maybe I missed it. When using two of these in repeater mode is there any provision for setting station ID to be broadcast IAW FCC ID requirements?

Is the plus and the standard compatible together for making a repeater?
Yes! The KG-1000G Plus can work alongside the original KG-1000G 😁
Hands down, my favorite feature is the stun and kill function!

Looking at purchasing two 1000g+ for repeater setup. Question is can use use one of the radios as a base station while still configured as a repeater?

Is there anyway to copy or duplicate freqs from KG535 and KG1000 in the software? Copy and paste doesn’t appear to work.
Hi Steve, information in the software must be inputted manually in this situation as the KG-935G and KG-1000G are formatted differently.
Can you run this off of a 12v cigarette lighter plug

Just don’t use it as a repeater, cuz only your neighbor can break the squelch 😂

It needs a patch.
Did you check to be sure Auto Lock was turned off? If it is ON, the keypad and front panel buttons will auto lock after 15 seconds.
