Used to throw a lot of Gulp but up here in the pan handle, the Pinfish will have them shredded within the first 10 feet... these days I mostly throw Z-Man paddle tails and cover them in pro cure. Works really well and they hold up to the pinfish

I love the 3" gulp curly tailed mullet but the Z-man minnow Z holds up better
I usually throw a 1/8oz jig head on spinning for slow and finesse

When tail biters are trashing Gulp I use Z Man soft plastics and add Dr Juice or ProCure scent. I only get a few less bites. And they last way way longer than Gulp. Using scents is critical. Fish have a much stronger sense of smell than dogs and your finger oils and other scents turn fish off, so adding a good scent helps a lot. Dr Juice has been shown to be more effective and last longer than ProCure but both help me get a lot more bites than soft plastics without scent. In fact I don't throw soft plastics without adding scent anymore. It's too big if a handicap to not use.

I just found your channel in the last day or two and have only watched a few videos so far, but I wanted to say how much I enjoy your b-roll and introspective format to these videos. Really enjoyable to just sit back and chill and see what you’re up to. Thanks for sharing!

I come from New Jersey where gulp swimming mullet is the go to for founder and moved down to Cape Coral florida last year and don’t change my ways on what I use and just the other day I was on reef offshore of sanibel and 2 times hooked into Goliaths using them on a flounder rod😂 can imagine how that ended , weird thing the Goliaths never took them before the other day it was always lane snapper, grunts , Warsaw grouper , blue runners and all that kind of stuff

I have to master that skip cast this winter when I’m down fishing SWF. We got devastated by red tide last March, so hoping that some good fish have moved back into our area. Great video as always.

Your skipping lures under structure is on point. Also, starting out using a spinning setup may be best for some.

Definitely get more bites from the action of the skip. Tarpon and snook pop those baits and the skip is mimicking it while allowing you to cover more territory.

For me, the best all purpose lure for saltwater or just shallow water has always been a fluke/ fluke-style bait. For the type of fishing I've done on flats, in mangroves, and around docks for snook, reds, jacks, tarpon, flukes are my go-to break glass option. You can also catch bass, pike, peacocks, snakehead, bowfin, etc... on them

I think the main reason newbie anglers are hesitant when it comes to skip casting is the fear of snagging their lure on those mangrove roots/branches.

The Salt Strong Power Prawns are great shrimp imitations and they skip very well. Their app tells you what areas are good to fish according to a bunch of factors. You can make your game plan a week ahead of time. It shows reefs, oyster bars, grass flats, areas with bait, and factors in wind and tide and moon phase and other stuff to figure out where is good. I use it around the Chesapeake Bay because I just moved here and it's a big help. Their club is absolutely worth joining in my opinion. The discounts on tackle pays for it.
