Teach your dog 20 common commands in German.
********************************
Note: In the previous video we had a discussion on the correct words to use, and I agreed with you most of you guys. So without further a due, here is the corrected version of the video.
I am always up for debate and constructive criticism, so always feel free to leave a comment below if you think something isn't right.
********************************
There are numerous benefits to teaching your dog in a foreign language, but it's also fun and a great way to practice German.
The words we learn in this episode are the following:
Stay = Bleib
bark = Sprich
Jump = Spring
Up = Hoch
Down = Runter
Outside = Raus
Go toilet = Geh aufs Klo
Give me your paw = Gib mir deine Pfote
Heel = Bei Fuß
Sit = Sitz
Come here = Komm her
Fetch = hol
Attack = Greif an
Leave = Weg
Drop = fallenlassen
Lay down = Leg dich hin
Quiet = Leise
Faster = Schneller
Look at me = Guck mich an
Stop it = Stop
I watched a video with a police officer say that it’s not that they teach German to keep dogs from taking commands from others, but because they were taught German in Germany through training before being shipped to the United States, therefore, continuing the language because that’s what they know.
That's dumb and he doesn't know what he's talking about. I'm starting school to train dogs for police work. But I've known this long before. Ok you speak English all day that's all the dog hears goes in one ear and out the other. But when you speak something foreign that stands out it commands.. It sticks out from what they hear all day.
@@richardspinelli-zn4rqThat doesn't make any sense at all...and you are training police dogs? 🙄
@@pako1724 How doesn't that make sense my friend? Of course you have to go right to disrespect because you have a low IQ level. And you could never do what I do on a daily basis.
I'm not attacking you in any way. My friend. Just what the police officer told you.
K-9 are taught commands in the language from where the dog is from. Logic do you think it would be wise to train this kind of dog in only English? Then anyone can tell that dog what to do. N yes it’s possible. I’ve done it. You just need to know the language.
I am not happy with the translations for
1) "down",
2) "go toilet",
3) "give me your paw",
4) "attack",
5) "drop",
6)"quiet" .
You most likely took the literal translations, but that doesn't work for dog commands.
1) "runter" is wrong, correct word is "Platz", unless you meant as in "get down from the table", there also was a phrase for laying down, there I would agree partially, but you also could mean "Platz" there, however I felt like down was the one you meant so I say that's wrong.
2) "Geh auf's Klo" really is directed to humans, never would you tell that a dog, it's way too long for a dog command IMO. I don't even know if that has to be a command for a dog, really. Aren't they autonomous enough to decide if they have to or want to pee? I can't imagine a person walking their dog demanding to pee.
3) "Gib mir deine Pfote" is technically right, but as the former command way too long, we say "Gib Pfote" or something along those lines to make it shorter just as you do it with "go toilet" instead of "go to the toilet" to make it grammatically correct.
4) "Greif an" - again - the way you would talk to a human. I thought this is THE most well known command besides maybe Platz. Wouldn't any scene in an action-movie involving a Kanine use the correct phrase "Fass"? I watched a clip of an actual police/military dog and his owner and he used Hebrew and german commands, which was the first time I actually got to know they use German words, and there he also used "Fass". We do that in Germany as well, but then again, do normal dogs really need to know that? Never misuse your pet as a weapon.
5) I even forgot what you said in the video, but really it's the same story all over again. Correct word would have been "aus", which literally translates to "out" as in "get it out of your mouth" or "spit it out". The latter I think it is supposed to come from, just again, to make it shorter you only use one word.
6) Here I am not 100% sure what you would say, but anytime I was at a neighbour's or friend's house and their dog barked because a stranger was walking down the street, the owner also said "aus", but personally I think you could also Shh them if it wasn't a "loud barking" if you know what I mean. If you really want a translation of that phrase though I would say "Ruhe" fits more, but I think you also just say "aus". I am not a dog psychologist however I get it that having 2 commands defined under 1 word could cause problems? Just if the way logically it would when writing a program, maybe the dog would figure out though.
Now a word to the introduction. It is an urban legend that you teach your dog in german so he wouldn't do something if a stranger gave him a command. I mean in Germany we teach them in German and yet they only listen to us, we don't need to teach them in English. I don't know where it comes from, I assume it's handy or because of the short and sharp pronounciations that they understand it better (Sitz, Platz, Fass).
Either way, you can also train your dog to only listen to you even if they learn the English commands. Have you ever watched a contest of dogs and their owners in let's say parcour? They give commands, there's multiple people maybe more than one training simultaneously and yet the dogs only listen to their owners. Also if it is so popular to train your dog in german, the trick wouldn't work anymore, would it? You're in a dog park and 10 dogs and their owners are there, even if just 3 of them teached their dogs in german, that'd be a problem, right? Anyways, if you aim to create a video about dog commands in a language you don't know (I am assuming because you had to use the translator to pronounce it) double check your translations and look up other sources, not saying you should copy their script but at least check if the information you got are right, which in this case, they weren't.

He just used Google translate, no effort at all.
@xkx Yng dude wrote a whole essay
I understand that there was a debate regarding the accuracy of the words used in this video, therefore I have uploaded a new version of this video: ruclips.net/video/Zm7QBTMNYKQ/видео.html - I think feedback is great for any RUclips channel, and I value your opinions and feedback.
Most of these commands aren’t what are used by professional trainers. For instance down or lay down is platz and sit is sits and stand is steh etc.

I always down in German was Plahtz.
I have a shepky (German shepherd husky mix) so this really helps me train her thanks for the vid
Having so much fun learning thank you
Nobody’s going to return a dog that they’ve stolen regardless of what language the dog can speak.
Lol true 😹😹
Yeah I never understood that reasoning for that. I believe that’s more of an urban legend like idk who started saying that but it’s always been said to be why it’s done. It’s not, it’s done because some dogs respond to German better due to origin (or so they say) but personally I believe you can train a dog in multiple languages and it doesn’t matter where the breed originated.
I chose to speak German with my Shepard, she responded to English as well just not as fast or as sharp as when I would say the command in German.
Personally believe it may be because of the Harsh sound of a German accent that catches their attention and keeps those commands registered, especially the fact that we speak in English all day so as soon as she hears the German her ears perk right up. But I’m no expert lol I’m just a girl w a dog
There is STILL a resistance level for the owner and for the dog of course having to learn the English commands version.
I STILL would LOVE to train my own dog I'd LOVE to have someday IN GERMAN. FUCK CRIMINALS.
lol....
@Anaisa Montanez exactly
For bark you should use deblaut- DE-blahwt if you are going to use Spring for jump to avoid confussion
It's "Gib Laut"...
Hello Unfortunately some commands are not quite correct. for example, up does not mean HOCH in dog language but Hop = jump up. Great video. Take a look at rein. LG Mario 🐺👦
4:56 lay down sounds like 'lick the shin'!
I hear "lick his chin"
Lay down is actually platz pronounced plotz.
I am having problems with “come here” which in german is “come here” pronounced more slowly sounds like “c o m e h e r e” arrg so difficult. Need more practice.
You could say “kommen Sie hier” if you want your dog to have more proper manners 🤣
😂
Teaching your dog German commands ironically means only government personnel can steal your dog. Why not a Chinese language? Oh wait, never mind…
😂

This is great.
thank you
My girlfriend have a shi-tzu who understands only "walk" in hungarian. I want to teach him "spazieren" :D :D
haha go for it :)
2:58 this command (like some others shown in the video) is unnecessarily long... Germans just say „gib Pfote“ which simply translates to „give paw“.
It’s much easier to memorize short commands for you and your dog.
Thanks Linda - I am actually remaking this video to hopefully make it more natural. I should have it done very soon
I have updated the video - ruclips.net/video/Zm7QBTMNYKQ/видео.html - your feedback is appreciated
"Gib Pfote" is sufficient!! Nobody says like the full sentence. 😛
I thought down was platz

Danke Schoen
I love it, thanks.
What about good boy? Or good girl
Braves Mädchen means good girl; good boy is guter junge
Sir I stole your dog but apparently it speaks German so here you go.
What about people in Germany?
Their dogs only respond to English🤪
The words, the translation of the commands are “technically” correct, but a lot of them we would not use that way for communicating with a dog.
oh mein gott soad referenze??? wie gehts mein digga?
I’m teach my dog that
What dog do you have
They will since he has GPS and I have a shotgun. And , he is microchipped. Try to mess with him.
Friend - Freund(German)
Enemy - Feind(German)
For both you should pronounce as "find"
i am german hihihi
i used to have a german shepherd growing up and we taught him in german. why? idfk we’re not even german
Plotz
In English it’s “get out the way” which In German is “meuf jur artse”
Also your command 1,2,7,13,14,15,16,18,19 is more bad heheh
What do you mean, sorry?
I have updated the video - ruclips.net/video/Zm7QBTMNYKQ/видео.html - your feedback is appreciated
No its wrong commands in german: down its platz, fetch its bring, heel its fuss, come here its hier..
Platz means "place" not down. People use it for down but it is incorrect. LE use it for place.
Komm hier for come here.
Hahahah who say so give command ??
Yea I stole your dog. I’m returning him cause he doesn’t speak Portuguese. Have a good day
Jude...😶
This video needs to be deleted.
It's one of the ways people are finding the v2 of this video. I have put links etc to help people
This was a horrible idea have my pup here and all the sudden he started biting me and then I literally had to wait till the end to figure out stop in german
Hahaha! Sorry
Down is platz in German 😕
No, it means place. People use if for down.
So, what if you are German and you own a dog, do you teach it Latvian?
Why stop there? Why not just teach a dead language that no one speaks, like Latin? 😆
How About Basic Commands?
Diaper Baby!
This is wrong!!! And I’m not even German speaking!! I’m surprised fass was not included, that’s like the number 1 attack command.
I have updated the video, see the description
100% I believe the person who did the video did not include fass because it is for beginners. Jesus, people think Platz means down when it means place. People crucify English too. LOL
i use Platz for down.
And heel is fuss
