- Hey everyone, TheJMHguy here!... Last month marked five years of ownership since I bought my 2004 E83 BMW X3 3.0 and in this particular video, I do a general overall ownership review of it. I wanted to make a series of videos showcasing my experience and everything about it because between the age of it, the years of ownership, the mileage, the adventures it has been on and I feel I have a lot to share about it.
About my X3:
- 2004 (First model year)
- Mystic Blue on Tan Leatherette
- Bought with 189,000 kms on it (117,439 Miles)
- It now has over 300,000 kms/180,000 miles on it.
- Spent more on maintenance than it was worth when I bought it and more than what it is worth now anyways
I will do a cost breakdown, storytime, and much more in future videos as well as driving reviews too.

We have almost the exact same story! Replaced my old 1996 e36 320i with 2004 x3 e83 back in 2015 too. Still using my e83 x3 up to now. Errors in your dash is like mine but is a quick of replacing the transfer case gear.
That's a small world! I almost got the 320i actually. How was yours? As for the transfer case gear, I was reading about that and doubt it was changed before my ownership. What was the rough cost to do it? Might be a good idea for me to get mine done this summer.
@@thejmhguy here in the Philippines it just cost me less than 100usd. Still using it until now.
@@thejmhguy you don't need to replace the whole actuator gear as the worm gear that turns it only turns it less than half way, so take off the actuator gear assembly, turn the plastic gear that's worn out on one side 180 degrees, put it back in and voila
