Quarantine day 646863: I'm mourning a nerite. (I actually remember it fleeing from Kartoffel and accidentally getting stabbed because it was too scared and yet I can't tell what I had for breakfast today).
Common causes are low flow/circulation, build up of organic waste and in planted tanks low (yes I said low) nitrates. A combination of manual removal, water changes, a 3 day back-out and the above should see it gone. Good luck.
@@6RadaR6 I agree. It's about the balance between nitrate, phosphate and potassium. Low nitrate means the plants are not able to consume phosphate. That is an advantage to the cyanos
@@eminemilly Nitrate should be between 10 and 30 mgl, phosphate 0,1 - 1mgl and potassium 10-20mgl. This is what I try to achieve. But it depends. If you have much/lower light, adding CO2 or not, fast growing plants, no plants at all... Every tank is different.
I was working when the notification popped. This is not a channel where you can only listen to it. I mean, the music is nice, but that's not the point of this channel.
these videos really help with my anxiety and depression, they're really therapeutic, thanks so much for the content and keep it up! I hope I can do something like this very soon
I recently took two cuttings off a mint plant, placed the bottom of the stems in the water and about two months later they’ve grown long roots (attached themselves onto the bogwood) and there’s now five stems that are over double the height they used to be! This is going to be my new way of growing mint as it grows so much faster than in a pot.. I guess it also helps with nitrates
it’s also worth noting that the mint flopped over and seemed to wilt for the first couple of days then suddenly sprung back up again, but strange but it grew in the end!
I had a question, I see that he uses a heater in his tank as the fish needs 26 C, but there is no flowing water in the tank. Will the heater still heat the tank efficiently?
I curl up in a giant blanket, put on noise cancelling headphones (Which I would like to add, I bought specifically for this channel) and proceed to ignore everything and everyone until its over. It's my get away and I live for every video you post.
Ooooh peppermint! I'm excited to see where this tank is going and how long the peppermint survives. I've been watching since this tank was only a few weeks old and I'm very invested. RIP nerite T.T I have the feeling Kartoffel hired a hitman on it and is the culprit behind the cyanobacteria so that he wouldn't be around when the hitman strikes, so nobody would accuse him. Maybe he likes the new snail better because of the different shape. Maybe Kartoffel just doesn't like round things?
Thank you so, so much for these videos. Tonight marked the end of a very long and stressful school year and I was overjoyed to find a new video waiting for me! I began watching your videos during the fall semester (when I thought things were already hectic) and have not missed one since! There have been days during this school year when the only thing that has helped me unwind were your aquariums. Thank for sharing and thank you for helping me find a peaceful spot in the chaos!
I'm suffering a lot of anxiety due to stress from the overall kind of job I have (add WFH in a place you cannot separate work from your free time) and his videos just are like a bliss to my soul. It's almost like an ethereal wall of peace being handed at you in your must needed days! Thanks a lot for bringing me tranquility and a restful break :)
These videos touch my soul in such a meaningful way. I hope you never stop making these videos.. and hope for other people to get inspired by you so this form of art is carried on for a very long time to come.
This channel is so peaceful it just allows me to distract myself from the some of the stresses of life. Im not sure what I’ll do when they stop uploading one day...
This channel has been keeping me entertained during online school, its been about half a year since then, but now were back in lockdown, and im glad there are new videos up!
Mint grows extremely well with roots in water. You can't really smell it just in the air, but brushing up against it and of course trimming it, it releases that minty fresh goodness
YES MINT!! Mint is going to do extraordinarily well. I have it on the top of 2 of my tanks and it grows like a weed and smells amazing when trimming it. If you ever want to try something else, I'd suggest Thai Basil. It's an annual plant though so will eventually die, but it does really great with roots in water.
I wish I could live in your tank, life would seem to be so peaceful and beautiful just swimming around the roots and watching you experiment with plants ♡
You have a Malaysian Trumpet Snail! I have a bunch of them in my tank with my betta, they don't seem to do much but I hear they help clean the tank! They're burrowers and nocturnal, so it may disappear for a while, but it'll probably be just beneath the substrate. 😊
Kartoffel meeting the nerite

Kartoffel meeting the hopscotcher snail

Sad to hear the nerite died. It had a good life in your tank.
He was a real champion
Kartoffel had something to do with it I'm sure
the best life*

R.i.p Bumblebee Nerite... I will remember you my friend T-T. At least the cyano is vainquished and Kartoffel seems happy with his new roomates.
The tender and care makes me love this channel so much. Especially during these times.

That song is actually the original Nokia sound! They took it and simplified it for the ringtone, but the classical piece is the original :)
That's a cool fun fact.

I’ve been wrestling with cyanobacteria for more than a month and this guy just gets rid of it in one water change. I have a lot to learn.
He killed them with chemicals that's not sustainable. If he doesn't find the reason why they came up, they will return

During a time I was temporarily bedridden, you taught me to love the ongoing evolution of an aquarium. I hope you never stop posting!
Maybe Kartoffel didnt attack the snail because it reminded him of the Nerite :'(
He didn't appreciate the nerite until it was gone 😭😭😭
thats sad
I feel my heart crack.
whyy he's gone :(
"Thank you so much for watching."
Me: No I am thanking you for letting me watch it 🥺❤
I wonder why and how it started that people's comments ask themselves something. I guess it's a little mini conversation. It has really caught on

Check out 'Featureman '. He is very enjoyable to watch too !

Don’t ever stop making these videos. I miss my aquarium and this makes it all better. Very well done and just so soothing. I appreciate it!!

I have been growing mint in my tank. the guppys I have eat it faster than it will grow.
Some plants are able to be cloned, That's how they started growing. Aquaponics(growing in water) is the best for cloning plants.
Another thing I should try. Thanks for the hint
I had a question, I see that he uses a heater in his tank as the fish needs 26 C, but there is no flowing water in the tank. Will the heater still heat the tank efficiently?
