5 Months Update Baby Food, Shrimplets, Brine Shrimp, Infusoria, NO filter, NO CO2, NO Ferts 5 Gallon

- This is 5 months update. The fish are called Sparkling or Pygmy gourami.
How to hatch brine shrimp: It’s very straight forward. I used lukewarm tap water. No water conditioner. Cheap sea salt - same as aquarium salt. The brine shrimp lasted around 3~4 days in the plastic bottle after they hatched. The temperature in the tank was around 27°C or 81°F. I did stir the floating eggs a few times after setting it up.
How to culture infusoria: I used water from this planted tank. I siphoned water around the plants and around the gravel to catch some infusoria. I boiled the fresh spinach for around 10 minutes until the leaves were completely soft. I did this so that the bacteria would break it down much easier and quicker. You can use other veggies like lettuce or cabbage. I also added an algae wafer. But it seemed like it’s not completely necessary. Just after 24 hours of setting this up, the water had become cloudy white. That meant the bacteria bloom had occurred. Infusoria eats bacteria. This thing later did stink, though. It took around 6 days for the enough infusoria to colonize for me to use it.
About the baby pygmy gouramis:
In hindsight, I should’ve moved the babies to their own tank in the beginning.
But I didn’t want the pair to keep breeding.
In hindsight, I should’ve removed the parents earlier.
In hindsight, I should’ve made infusoria first.
In hindsight, I should’ve known an Amano might get to the fry, allegedly.
I think some were eaten by the parents, then lack of food, then the amano, all contributed to the dwindling numbers. I didn’t know there were less of them. I always thought some were hiding in the thick foliage.
The ones that survived are all different in size. Several are big and healthy, and there’s one that looks exactly the same size as a month ago! That one only eats infusoria, still. But all of them are doing well.
I’m still feeding TetraMin Baby every day hoping they would eat it one day. The uneaten food is used up by the shrimp.

Many of you are asking the same question. There are 2 Amanos, and a few wild shrimp in the tank. The wild shrimp are breeding. There's actually one adult female wild shrimp in the tank. This is her second time carrying eggs.
Foo the Flowerhorn sorry for my ignorant question but does the shrimps eat any of the baby fishes?
I for real really like your videos... but i have a question. You see, i have started an aquarium and i'm very rookie, so one of the plants was contamined with planaria, so now i have them. The tank doesn't have fish yet, but i was thinking about putting neon tetra and otocinclus. Any advice to get rid of these ugly worms (they are like 6mm long)? I really want to put shrimps but i can't because of them, they already killed my only little snail...
mrmousecat I don't know about all shrimp, but amanos are little gangsters. they're opportunistic and can get pretty aggressive. if they can catch one, they'll eat it. the wild shrimp in this tank are very docile, though.
there are planaria medicine readily available. from top of my head, "no-planaria" or fenbendazole will work.
Is wild shrimp a term you are using for a shrimp you collected in the wild or a more general term for shrimp that you purchased that were not identified?
Do you think everyone in the tank is like “ ohh guys is trimming day”
Yes have you ever seen finding Nemo
[cries in cannibal]
I find it fascinating that you dont even speak a word but your videos have more qualities than these other fish keeping youtube channel
Thats Bullshit subtitles fam
SpEaK
Just like Primitive Technology, their content speaks for itself since it's so good and well made.
A lot of other channel owners are trying to be celebrities so it becomes more about them than the subject matter. One beautiful channel, which does have narration, is AntsCanada, Like this channel, it's the saga of what goes on with the lives in the tanks - except with the colonies of ants he keeps.
Well said...
Got emotinally invested on the fishes and shrimp I forgot that I was here for the plants. Lol
i realized the same thing and i was up all night as i didnt realized i was already on 16th month haha
This man is a fish-child protective service lol
I haven't stopped laughing at this comment 😂 Seriously, this is by far the best comment on all of RUclips!
Casey Corbett haha thank you so much! you made my day (:
@@pixiekitsch Good 😊 That makes me really happy! ❤ I hope you have a great one!!
Haha like babysitting the babyfish😅
Yep, but I slowly realize something else. This man is also a stalker.
A stalker for water creatures.
He watch them take shower, breed, feeds and devoured each other xD
No doubt these videos are one of the best about fish on youtube
Antscanada has a few. Unfortunately i never know which ones they are
The lengths you went thru to feed the babies was absolutely amazing. Well done, I love this series and I’m not even halfway done with it!
Was super wholesome to see that. Treats them like his own babies
Imagine worrying about your parents potentially eating you
Mine did.
Miranda Luu unfortunately many animals have that danger, even some humans in some cultures.
@@earlinejackson8151 tell me the cultures.
@@AnnaBeatriz-iv7hq some cultures obviously

8:08 i actually jumped out of my chair because everything was so calm but then you see fricken *GoDziLlA shRImP*
"Overall the number of babies dwindled"
"One shrimp got suspiciously big"
After seeing your latest update (Oct 2019) I thought it would be interesting to watch your first video of this habitat and maybe skim through a few others. Now, I am watching them all in sequence. So fascinating! I need to see it all!
Same!
I'm doing the exact same thing and just saw the latest video today
same
SAME
bryan westerfield same!!!
I have severe anxiety when I’m home and watching you videos has put me more at ease than anything I’ve watched. You’re amazing and thank you ❤️ maybe I’ll get a tank for my room and have my company ❤️
I was just talking to my therapist yesterday about how nice and calming these videos are!
Your camerawork is insanely good, Great series!
These video always put me into a magical trance. Quality is just amazing, keep it up!
yeah they are incredibly relaxing
Once you watch one you can’t stop watching what happens next.
Parents: get taken out of the tank
"And then everybody was much happier"
Kelsey Pries There was much rejoicing
In nature documentary voice: as the small childrens parents are removed from the vicinity, you can observe joy in the off spring. They are offered sweet release from the terror their parents bestowed upon them
Meme translation:
"everyone liked that"
"finally those bitches are gone"
Trying to explain to my partner why I love watching these is quite difficult, it’s reality tv without the fluff and I love it. I like how you really bring life to these creatures, and make their patterns noticeable. I’ve never been into fish tanks but you make it easy to understand, and see progression.
This is my second round of watching these videos(some maybe more), and I really love it. I had really bad panic attacks and I feel watching this really helps.
What! Brine shrimp shells are magnetic!
This fact is going to change my life.
That was really interesting.
After a quick google, it seems that the egg seller coats the eggs with fine iron powder to aid in separation. This had me stumped too, because I was like "what kind of biology is magnetic?"
@@ambulocetusnatans oooh. huh! I just kinda assumed it was some biological thing I didn't know about 😅
@@Jesse__H Me too. At first my jaw dropped :D
You've got to be the most patient person on the planet to handle that much plant maintenance as delicately as you do.
When I could see the tiny infusoria... This is the best channel ever!
I watched your two year anniversary and decided to backtrack all the way from the start. One really forgets about the world around you when watching these. Thank you truly.
who would've thought that the key to everyone coming together as one would be fish tank soap operas. you just got yourself another subscriber sir.
This is actually incredible. Not only being able to film this process and the troubleshooting but the overall quality and attention to detail is amazing. You're an artist
Ah 💚
I just love these videos.
Nati Whatever you're hot
@LAKSAMANA HANG TUAH whatever gets me close to sucking toes bro, it's worth it
These vids are more addictive than a Netflix box set. Having a proper binge right now cos they chill me out so much
the lengths you go to save the life of a single baby fish are honestly heartwarming and impressive. i think i might have given up after the baby food didnt work, but you just kept going!
I love the ending.
"Hey man are done in h--..oop, sorry."
The amount of times I've watched these videos is ridiculous. So soothing
Lol, me too!
what i've learned from betta fry is they tend to prefer live foods, because it's moving and atractive. i suggest you to keep feeding them brine shrimp, for the protein is so good, so they will grow fast, and when they are big enough try to feed them daphnia magna. btw love this series.
Love this series, keep up the good work! The trimming looks like it takes ages!
Life is such a extraordinary thing.
National Geographic should hire you and pay you to do this series on their channel! This is phenomenal work and so very interesting. I've viewed this twice ... thank you so much!
Nice tank. I never thought a small 5 gallon could have so much going on in it.
I will never get tired of this music and these experiments
i love the story. i wish your video's were endless
the way you captured every moment and every movement made me amazed and i was like 'whoaa' while watching this video.
This is so calm and relaxing, I could spend hours watching your videos.
Thanks, from a brazilian fan.
I love that you're put more effort to make the fry lived by using physics or tools or whatever you need to do. I love it! Especially the way that you documented your tanks and wrap it into an awesome documentaries. Great camerawork!
I can't even begin to explain how great your videos are. They're so relaxing to watch, while at the same time educational. The amount of patience, and care that you display is unbelievable.
Dont thank us for watching.
We have to thank you, for making such amazing content!
I love the camera work, the simple captions, the music. This is wonderful, informative storytelling.
Seriously a great series. I haven't found another video series like this.
My mind was relaxed great brother thanks 😊👍👌
I just love how this audience is behavior wise, I mean look at his comments for goodness sake, on some animators' channels the entire comment section is just "show your face" or some thing like that but not here and I love it
my heart melted when he writes "everybody was much happier"
I would love a live stream of your tanks 24 hours a day just to watch them evolve
just found your channel and i can’t stop watching. such beautiful stories you’re creating and uncovering! thank you so much
I've been binge watching all the updates. So relaxing and peaceful to watch.
The way that you match music and aquarium Life and projects can literally be a show or shows like you see on dog TV
The dedication they have for these fish is insane
2:05 looks like the fish are gliding in mid air!!
wonderful video as always
I never thought I’d be so invested in this
It’s incredible what you achieve with this videos. The music and landscape you present here, makes reflect about many things. Awesome videos!
I love the way you care about these little creatures. I hope we can see together as they grow up. Nice work so far !!!
This is literally the most relaxing thing I have ever seen! Keep the updates coming please!
U deserve more subs..
Your channel absolutely gives me relaxing vibe that everyone needs to have
To the creator:
Thank you. Watching these videos helps me with anxiety. They are so peaceful and calm. I feel better after watching. The music is also perfect.
Love your videos. When I have panic attacks I watch them. The music and just watching the fish and shrimp is calming. ❤
These videos are some of the few on RUclips I watch until the very end.
Dude this is best channel ive ever seen
Shrimplets is a word I didn’t know I needed until now
I have never been interested in fish and fish tanks the slightest bit. But watching these videos is the most interesting and relaxing thing i think i have done in a while
These are my favorite videos on RUclips. I'm dying to see an update on the no filter bowl tank 😍
Best channel on YT, learned a lot today, keep up the good work and good luck!
So relaxing to watch. Especially right before you go to bed :)
the quality of these videos is better than my eyes
watching those plants grow makes my heart go uwuu :’)
was eagerly waiting for your video.💜
Everyone seems so happy in the ecosystem you've created for them.
I love it when the camera is so zoomed in and all the plants are out of focus
Insane, thanks for the fix!
This is the cutest video I’ve ever seen. I love all the babies!!! 😍
Edit: STUPID SHRIMP! 😭 why you gotta do the babies wrong like that?! 😩
To think how people would've waited for each of these updates.... Now I'm binge watching the second time...
Aquatic life + Classical piano = Serenity.
Thank you!!!
cala a boca ai meu
This is perfection
So muchhh calmnesss
This stuff is actually pretty fascinating, I've always wanted an aquarium like this too
This is proof that there is beauty in simplicity
Great production value
Why would the parents eat their own. I thought the neighbours were supposed to do that
Cant believe i watched the whole thing...this too mesmerizing.
This tank is 1 of kind...Absolutely perfect video who has less space in home and want to keep hobby. Detailed information. About everything from fishes to how to breed them to accessories.
PLEASE KEEP UPDATING FOO...!!!
Always love these updates, have you considered doing one huge one, with a multitude of breeding animals??
smuntdogmillionaire easier said than done.
What light are you using for the tank? I'm loving your plant growth and I'm jealous how fast it grows in comparison to mine!
18w PL fluorescent daylight color. it was explained more in the setting up video.
TheeWarden I completely feel that way too. My green plants keep dying. My shrimp keep hiding.
Pearl of greatest Price. He raised the light up to dissipate some of the energy.
Best fish tank videos I have ever seen. I love you're step by step, your numbered videos, the narraton, and all the care and details, plus the awesome photography.
The best fish videos on RUclips. Superb camera work. Especially the extreme close ups.
Of course they like it when the parents are not home; party time.
the music plaid gimnopedies from eric satie used to make me sad if plaid by radio, but in your channel it's just quiet & relaxing combined with your beautifull videos, so you gave it another turn/twist.
I absolutely love your videos! Best camera work, sweet music, no talking, and an amazing tank.
Just found this channel and story. I love it! They’re the most interesting relaxation videos I’ve ever watched, or maybe the most relaxing educational ones. Just beautifully captured and captioned, lovely music, obvious passion for this careful, meticulous labor of love. Bravo!
I keep coming back to these videos, food for the soul
I dont know why, but there's something relaxing about this tank update
I dunno why but I have watched 3 of these in a row and I like.....very soothing and interesting 🧐
This series of yours is so fascinating. I'm always excited to see an update because it's fascinating to watch new life added to this tank. Wonderful work!
Just found your channel and I cant stop binge watching this series. Keep up the amazing work. 💖
Nice videos, good to relax and the shots you take are awesome! Keep going :)
These are some of the most relaxing video series i have seen in a while 😍
The little bubble from down tank, is so relaxing
It’s 5 am and I’m so content just watching these videos! They work better than my anxiety medicine does sometimes! It’s just so peaceful watch this little world that you created! I have a very spoiled betta fish but due to my own laziness I refused to try a planted tank but you’re making me second guess that lol. His tank is bare bottom atm but I’m really thinking about just getting even a potted aquarium plant to go in there. Idk how long they last in those sinking pots but I kinda wanna find out lol
This is my first video comment ever on youtube. The absolute beauty in your care, it's quite remarkable.. dont really know what to say but the resemblance of life and progression is just beautiful.
Your video skills are impressive, please don't stop making movies like this.
I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS UPDATE!! Thank you for your videos (which I should say so inspiring). I plan to start up the same concept as soon as I get all similar stuff you have, and follow all instructions in your first vid.
Good luck with your fry! Hope they'll all grow so it'll be a happy nursing tank. 💜
