Pompey fan here - been to Plainmoor may times as I have family in Devon and always make a point of visiting when I'm in the area - I was there for the Havant & Waterlooville game at the end of last season and was impressed by the great support. All the best for 24/25.
Pompey Fan here. I can fully appreciate the string of emotions you've gone through. Massive well done to everyone who has helped save the club. Football is nothing without the fans. Best of luck for the future.
Absolutely delighted for all Gulls fans and I’m sure Torquay are on the way back. I’m a Villa season ticket holder and first saw them twice at Plainmoor in the late 1970’s when on holiday and have followed them ever since and seen them playing at Midlands clubs like Walsall Kidderminster and Notts County when they were in the Football League. Gutted after Hartlepool and then painful watching their decline under Osborne. Totally agree with both fans that it is a special club and it always struck me that the fans I saw at their away games especially had no massive expectations and always seemed happy just to follow their team and enjoy it. Proper fans and club and I am rooting for you Gulls.
You absolutely WILL pull this around. We were in a very similar position at Cambridge 20 years ago. At our lowest eb, relegated from the football league and in administration, we sold our soul and stadium to the crook that is John Howard and his "investment" company Bideawhile. We subsequently avoided relegation to the conference south by the skin of our teeth and 11 years of conference football followed. We are now in our 4th year back in league 1 and have a genuine united fan in control of our Club. We also bought our stadium back last year!! There is always hope and you guys at Torquay WILL turn this around. Hoping to see you in league 1 ASAP!! Good luck
Cracking video! I absolutely adore this club, and the way the fans were treated over the past year but still turned up in droves home and away was commendable. Moving forward, things are really looking up and the foundations are in place for a new future. I’m definitely excited 🫡
As a Die hard TUFC fan who stuck with them through all this, in lack of a better word, shit, these two sum up the feelings completely. While the dictatorship of Osbourne and Johnson where in power we were fighting against them as they dragged us down the leagues, combined with horrible statements like “the club doesn’t have the right type of fans” - Gary Johnson The fans turned on each other during these times and we regularly got below 2000 which was such a shame from seeing a plainmoor that averages 3500 just a few seasons earlier. Once the announcement was made everyone went to every game the feeling was, go to it in case it’s not here next week, that’s the stage it got to. The club shop was bought out in a day, Exeter and Plymouth fans all came on “Devon day” to help us and about 4000 fans turned up that day. Taunton away was the day we confirmed safety and I don’t think I’ve cried as many tears: happy, sad or anxious in those 98 minutes than I have any other 98 minutes in my life. We stayed up thanks to Aaron Downes who needs some recognition in this whole pilava as actually being the man who pulled us together and kept us up from a -11 points deduction. After the season had ended it was full of uncertainty until we heard the news. It was perhaps the most relieved I’ve been, ever. The atmosphere is so much different from the previous dictatorship: Comments on RUclips enabled, Speaking openly with the fans, Not promising anything they can’t fufil and changing the identity to remove everything Johnson and Osbourne did such as our training Ground and Badge as well as an entire squad. Neil Warnock also extended his “Are you with me” Tour to finish at the princess theatre on the seafront and all the proceeds went to the club. Ten theatre was full and the crowd was chanting and we actually felt like a club again. Our new players look really decent although we will see how well they play in our First Friendly against Buckland from Nearby Newton Abbot on Friday. I think our hopes are rightfully high although the board and manager has done a very good job of convincing people we will lose games on the way too which is the complete opposite the club did before the consortium joined. Overall the general feeling throughout the fans is positive and I most certainly am looking forward to The upcoming Season. COYY 💛💙
Fantastic post. The new board seem to have altruistic motives and the fans seem right behind them. I remember when Villa started our comeback in the old third division and once a club gets momentum the comeback gathers pace even if there are setbacks along the way. Liked the football I saw from the highlights in the Enfield game and best of luck for the season.
just glad u survied as a club am plymouth argye know.wat it was.like we were in truble hope u end up.like as us and start getting some sucess on picth likecwe have last few years
Spurs fan.. but really like Torquay. Remember coming down for a league cup tie many years ago. Regularly look for your results but been harder to find.. all the best. Hope you can turn it around and get back in the league sometime soon.
Great to have our club back in the hands of the fans. The last ownership screwed us over horribly and then Johnson was just collecting a wage for the last few years, he should have left long before he was pushed.
Everything is in place for the club to be higher up now. It won't be easy and it'll likely be a long road but I can see us in League 1 with these owners
That own goal and the name Pat Kruse will forever be linked together. I mean there has to be someone in football who is noted for scoring the quickest own goal. I was good friends with the late Terry Lee, the unfortunate goalkeeper on that day. Both players, great blokes.
The mighty 🐝💤 bought Pat Kruse. I assume he was planning for Torquay at the time. Was a good servant for us. Spoke to him in the tea queue at our beloved Griffin Park…
Great to see the yellow army on a stable footing with a bright future. The likes of Osbourne are the wolf in sheep's clothing promising everything but delivering nothing and football has to have a charter at all levels of the game to prevent this .
I think we all have to be patient but I certainly hope so. The aim for the club is to keep stable in league 2 as historically we are a league 2 club with a few spells in league 1
Excited for the future, Torquay fans? 😃

Exeter fan here, I'd love to have Torquay back where they belong, the derby days are some of my fondest football memories.

Two great clubs! 🙌
If you need to you can find the results on BBC Sports I believe, I may be wrong but you can definitely find the National League South table there

Fans should always have a voice! We're delighted the club is in great hands again!

The sun shines down once more on the yellow gem of the English Riviera now that the dark clouds have lifted
YELLOWS! 🟡
Have good memories of travelling down to Torquay with Brentford.
Plus we bought Pat Cruise from you. How long ago was that ?

Get the good times back to Plainmoor
Onwards and upwards! 🚀
Do you think Torquay will go to the football leauge soon?
I think we all have to be patient but I certainly hope so. The aim for the club is to keep stable in league 2 as historically we are a league 2 club with a few spells in league 1
faulty towers was the 70s not the 90s lol
Good luck at Torquay United Neil Warnock. I wonder why he chose to manage a tinpot club like Torquay United.
Managed us in the 90s, loves the club and area. He's not actually our manager, just an advisor.
Yet another dodgy owner
Better times to come!
Great Vid
