Tests include:Rear Camera Stability, rear camera sensitivity, front camera stability and sensitivity and photos in daytime and nighttime. Sony XZ2 Premium was claimed to carry the most powerful camera sensor in the history.
1. How is the OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) of Sony XZ2 Premium and Samsung Galaxy S9?
When I hold my Sony XZ2 Premium and Samsung Galaxy S9 in hand, I can record good quality videos when I am riding or walking. The OIS of Samsung Galaxy S9 is awesome and Sony XZ2 Premium has even better OIS.
2. How is the color sensor of Sony XZ2 Premium and Samsung Galaxy S9 Cameras?
In daiytime, Samsung Galaxy S9 front camera and rear cameras take brighter and richer color than the real scenery. Sony XZ2 Premium behaves better in capturing real colors. It creates more real colors and smooth transition.
Sony XZ2 Premium performs better in low light circumstance, producing bright, clear shots with minimal image noise. Samsung Galaxy S9 takes good photos but still have much noise and reddish colors.

The S9 and XZ2P are both beasts. Both have their pros and cons. Both phones have separate goals, S9 camera was adjusted a bit warmer with its saturation for aesthetic reasons pleasing to the user's eyes with lively colors. XZ2P's goal is leaning more towards trying to get the actual color of the surroundings rather than saturate it as well towards a warmer image. If you are a photographer, the choice will be Sony for reason already mentioned. If you are "my photos look pretty and colorful" dude, S9 is definitely the phone.
Xz2 premium ...wins ..most are identical but same ..but when it comes to stabilization ,selfi clarity and sharpnesses , flash light comp , HDR video record ,slow motion ...finally naturalist ,real looking photo ,sound record king qulity ... This time Sony is way miles ahead of its competitors . but bro why don't you use ultra sensitivity mode in Sony ...which kick every competition's butt ...HDR video recordings ....I am not a fan of Sony ,every time disappointed me in past ...but this time Sony really amaze me !!!!!!

I have an S9+ and it takes great photos but The XZ2 photos look phenomenal. It's good to know that there are so many options now and yet to come this year when it comes to finding a phone that suits our individual tastes and pack great cameras.

AsaD Ali Samsung colors as usual are over saturated and warm while Sony colors look more natural and similar to what you see in real life. Hence why a photographer would choose Sony
Just remember, you cant create in a comment section about a comparison of Sony with ever phone, all that you can find is Sony umbiassed fans that says "Sony clearly wins :)" or "Sony is clearly better at all". Even when Samsung (and other phones) are clearly better in some aspects.

I am using Samsung S9 for 4 months and still think Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium is good for more natural tone of colors on camera. Sony Losses with focus speed, 960 fps time range, night exposure with S9. But the picture quality is most important and that's where Sony stands for! Sony XZ2 premium clearly the best for camera picture quality!

Ativ book XPERIA XZ2p have 960F (FHD) Galaxy none. XPERIA get higher iso so photo brighter and more details and natural,S9 have a lot video test with XZ2P! A lot video all said XZ2P win! This video didn't set XPERIA camera to the best photo and video can't let everyone see the more different to Galaxy

When I open the main camera on my Xz2 Premium you can hear a white noise coming from the camera itself while it is active so can someone explain what that noise is ? It's kinda like the static you'd hear on old TV when you search for channels but softer.
Very interesting. Unfortunately Sony's dynamic range is still pretty much terrible. It did very well otherwise though.
Ygor Cortes You people keep mixing the terms dynamic range and exposure all the time... XZ2 Premium has excellent dynamic range, and higher autoset exposure, which in itself is also good as gives more highlight to the object of the shot.
If you want to learn how excellent dynamic range of XZ2 Premium is, please go to Matthew Monitz compare to P20Pro, where he used manual mode that negates autoexposure, which you obviously mistake for dynamic range.
Not all those pictures can be given the same intake of dynamic range by turning down the exposure. Sony probably doesn't go as hard on the HDR to maintain good colours and "pop". I'd like if that Matt guy adjusted his exposures (ironically) in some of those comparisons, because he turned HDR on the p20pro, but didn't adjust the exposure of foreground objects to match the xz2p
youdarkraver no, darling. There were a whole lot of samples here in which they both exhibit the same amount is details and brightness in the shadows, but the Sony phone fails to show details on the brighter areas whereas the S9 does not. The same happens when you compare it with other phones too.
And the Mathew video doesn't make the P20 Pro justice because that phone takes images with higher dynamic range (yes, dynamic range and not simply exposure) when setting it to 10MP and using the auto mode. Anyway, the P20 Pro isn't really THAT great with dynamic range either when capturing scenes in brighter lighting situations. It's great in low light though.
Ygor Cortes Well darling, if you cant recognize higher exposure on Xperia here I cnt help you with that. Y know, same goes for S9 here, in some samples it has higher exposure, and looses more detail over Xperia ( has "weaker dynamic range"), have you noticed that?
The dynamic range was bad in just one scene, coming out of the tunnel. I agree the Samsung beat it there, but that's all i noticed the Samsung winning. Overall the Sony is the better camera.

the Samsung did have its moments (such as the tunnel - retaining more light and having better sensitivity) with better colors and textures and highlights/HDR (eg. bridge night photo @ 5:54) in some photos and but Ultimately the Sony was more superior and produced better results in more cases as well as better stabilization

I'm a Sony fan, but I hate XZ2 camera. On paper, XZ2P looks like a huge improvement, but it's probably not what I expected

First i was looking for a flaw.
Sony will need to adjust their aperture. Unfortunate S9 has wider thats bring a clearer view especially when under bright sunlight.
2nd Both has some what lacks in color saturation which complications had unnatural looks. Which i did think irrelevant to this video .and its only provokes others.
3rd S9 clearly still live doing their color science. They should stop over saturate it.but my note 8 tend to results somewhat a natural looks(colour) , well this maybe due to their microprocess). For me who lives to shot bout nature all day,its cool.
4th lol i had had xperia z4 b4 trust me j had never had enough with it. I keep taking picture like crazy. So my point is look out for their updates. Its gonna blow!
5th both andoid phones so thy can basically alter their software&hardware capabilities. Just download some ported apps.like google pixel camera. Mi a1 camera. One plus camera. Open camera. .. Theres xda develop er website. Just check them out.
6th the slow mo is slower and steadier in sony. Lets not fight over it. Just make the goddamn feature available over note8. 😏
Lastly i believe u cant go wrong with android phone these days. Theres tonnes of modifications can be made. All in time.

I find both kamars of the phones are very good. But the sound at Sony was really awesome. At the merger you heard quiet noise, which was not the case with Sony 👌 I have only had Sony Xperia myself and am totally satisfied. Good camera, good sound. Nevertheless, Samsung is not bad either.

S9 better colour management and dynamic range
Samaung also uses Sony Image Sensor, so if Samsung in some case beats sony for very close difference then it's becasue of Sony. But in this comparison Sony used best sensor for it's own device instead of giving it's best image sensor to Samsung Galaxy S9 unlike all the time.

What amazes me is the number of comments saying the Sony was better , not a chance. A lot of the XZ2 picture were overexposed with detail lost on the clouds ,lights in the buildings etc. Colour were more saturated than the S9 and zoomed detail was grainy. It's obvious people see what they want to and Sony fans are desperate for some kind of win. Sorry There S9 did better in most categories and where the Sony was good it was no better than the S9.
