    Among the variations, there are also caffè macchiato freddo, that is a shot of coffee, and you add a bit of cold milk without foam (you do it, not the barista). Or caffè freddo, that is basically similar to cold americano coffee, and is served in a champagne flute. Then you have Crema di caffè, that is much different, and is between slushie and gelato, tasting like milk and coffee.

  • @tobiasjansen229

    Nice Video! I need to add something to the definition of a Ristretto and Lungo though. A Lungo is not a shot where the Barista lets the coffee flow longer from the coffee machine. Instead, he grinds the coffee grounds more coarse, leading to the coffee to flow faster, and produce more liquid in the same amount of time then when pulling a regular shot of espresso. This produces a weaker shot of espresso. Same for the Ristretto: there, the coffee grounds are grinded finer, leading to a slower flow of coffee, producing a smaller, but more intense, shot in the same amount of time, compared to a regular espresso.

    • @GregorBrown
      @GregorBrown  26 дней назад

      @tobiasjansen229 26 дней назад

      @@GregorBrown Interesting! Maybe they have different grinders for different drinks? I would expect a shot which is pulled longer in order to get more liquid to taste very bitter. Same for the ristretto, which would taste very sour, if you just pull it shorter

  • @rodolfomicelli2325

    3 types of coffee often requested in Italian BARS are missing:
    -iced coffee! it is a very long coffee (similar to American coffee), it is placed in a container and left to cool; then it is placed in the freezer and shaken at the moment. It is a sort of very frothy coffee granita and widely used in Italian homes.
    -coffee on ice!
    A tumbler glass with 3 ice cubes inside; they give you your cup of espresso, you sugar it to your liking and you pour it into the glass.
    - shaken coffee; 4-5 ice cubes in the shaker, adding Bayles, long and sweetened coffee; a powerful shake and when you feel that the ice cubes are no longer making any noise, you pour it into a nice glass. A sweet foam with a Bayles flavor and very fresh!
    I'm a barman, can you tell?

      They ask you if you would like an espresso coffee as a form of courtesy and to avoid making mistakes in the service. Espresso is a short coffee that consists of just 3 sips. Tourists are often not used to 5-7 millimeters of coffee in a cup, so they ask if you want a long coffee, or an American coffee.
      Don't be afraid, they simply try to accommodate your request.

      There are pizzerias that have 30 different types of pizzas on their list and that use special flours, for those who are gluten intolerant. (so it becomes 60 different pizzas)
      Then there are those intolerant to milk proteins and they offer you another 30 different pizzas, without proteins derived from dairy products.
      Come on... Italy is not Papua New Guinea, with all due respect... if you are intolerant to some foods, you will still find someone who will feed you without running health risks.
      😁😁😁😁

    The the cappuccino before 11 “rule “ has been taken out of context by tourists. There are no rules. There is no curfew or cut off. It’s not real. Please do not use this to try and put other tourists off, or be afraid of ordering what they want when they want.
    Nobody will judge you, I promise. Everyone is busy. The barista has 20 other customers on their mind….
    The only time drinking cappuccino is seen as strange is straight after a meal for obvious reasons.
    You will often see Italians drinking cappuccino as a snack in the afternoon or evening, especially in winter. It’s not hugely common but it is definitely not uncommon either. You will not look out of place. You won’t be shamed. Just enjoy yourself and whatever you coffee you have chosen to order. That’s the most important thing
    That being said, I’m liking this guy. He is so warm in his presentation .

    Why weren't you served a glass of water with your coffee(s)? Unless you edited that part out and failed to mention the purpose of? That's the most important ritual when it comes to drinking coffee as an Italian.

    • @rodolfomicelli2325
      @rodolfomicelli2325 Месяц назад

      Vero! Il bicchiere d'acqua col Barman che ti chiede: "liscia o frizzante?" è parte del rito! Gli esperti sanno che bisogna rinfrescarsi la bocca prima di bere un espresso; i meno esperti bevono l'acqua dopo il caffè, cancellando il piacere; i più furbacchioni bevono prima del caffè, e poi il restante bicchiere d'acqua dopo.
