- Welcome to a Day in my life as a home baker! We have a lot this weekend as I prep and make cake orders for this week. In this week's video, I am baking and decorating a chocolate cake and vanilla cupcakes. I will be using new techniques like frying wafer paper to make it puffed. I will also be sharing with you exciting news on my cricut class all about cake toppers!

Thank you for sharing!! I recently tried Nick of the Scran Line's vanilla cake recipe. Definitely a hit and the cupcakes bake up beautifully as well. It's the reverse creaming method as well..easier for me as I struggle to cream butter and sugar perfectly every time.

May I ask how you got started & , how do you charge without losing?
I would like to make cakes like those beauties you make, but for now I want to start with the Bundts and Mini Bundt cakes. I know how to do the layer and sheet cakes, and won't turn down orders, but I want to be confident in decorating. But I really need confidence and assertiveness in pricing. Would you mind helping me with advice for dummies in this area🙏🙏🙏

I really appreciate your honesty in the struggle. I was a home baker up until a few months ago and I could remember feeling exactly how you described. It can be very emotionally and mentally taxing to be encouraged with baking, the responsibility to do your very best and the artistry, then juggling family and other obligations. At times I literally felt like I hated baking and loved it at other times. Now I work a professional job- which was what I wanted... so I thought. I miss baking, and still bake at times by impulse (almost every week lol) . I truly miss baking and often wish to pick it up again... But it's all in God's timing. I say all that to say- keeping going, and the times you feel overwhelmed pray and then... remind yourself that you can do all things through Christ and that He has made your gift unlike anyone else's because He loves you in a special way. God bless and I hope that God continues to bless your gift and business. :)

I’m actually considering starting a job in the coming years also, but I’m still trying to figure out what I want to do. Having your own business isn’t for everyone and that’s ok!

I just use the swans 1,2,3,4 cake recipes and take it from there. Aldi is a nice place to get most ingredients I just don’t go cheap on all sugars

Have you tried whipping the egg whites and then folding the yoke into the egg whites leaving air in the white? This will give you a fluffy batter if you don’t over manipulate the mix.
I have tried that method before! At the time it seemed like a lot more work than I wanted to do but open to trying again!

Thank you! I use talk standard sized liners but they are no longer available from where I got them on Amazon. They are a bit tricky to find, but I think I might have found some from Walmart. I haven’t tested them but the dimensions seem right. I’ll have to update when I try.
