I'm so confused with Zach in this conversation. He obviously knows that not having a one on one this late in the season is a big deal. It's almost like he's trying to defend himself by being dense about it?

Yup. It feels gaslight-y to me as well. And he’s pretty terrible at reconciling differences and coming to a halfway point. Jess deserves better.

Ultimately I think he did the right thing not stringing her along after seeing the extent of her worry, but Jess's concern was totally reasonable. A 1 on 1 doesn't just mean you're going on a fancy date. Getting one means the lead is into you and not having one by this point puts you at risk. It just wasn't meant to be between them and their lives will go on all the same.
It's a reality show with multi women kissing the same dude repeatedly. She acts as if she's never seen that show before. Let me bow out instead of not getting picked
Proud of Jess for standing up for herself. She is 💯 on point. I also love that she is following her intuition, wanna see more of this.
she did no such thing...she lost her composure and blew her chance at getting the coveted 1-1 next week...perfect timing as she would have had a free pass to the hometowns...I was pulling for Jess and she blew it...she's too young for the show, needs to mature a little
What did she stood against for? Getting kissed by a man who said she was on his mind since day 1, and that is was better she ruin a potential relationship because she did not get a one on one date (i.e. suggesting Zach should not give Charity another chance after Zach missed hers)?

This is I’m so insecure and so inexperienced in relationships I’m made up a lie about what one-on-one are… on. Game show. Hm… My girl….

I think my wife summed it up best when she said Jess is one of those people who highly values quality time with a partner. That’s her love language - and that’s something few get on a show like the Bachelor.
That's what all the neurotics (=shy, fear-driven) say, though.
She just doesn't want competition, because she feels inadequate.
Jess is a sweet soul but the competitive environment is not conducive to her preferred ways of finding love. Therefore, it was not Zach's fault that she found the process unconformable, especially when he engaged with other women.

I feel like she talked herself into that turmoil. He was confident with what they had so far, but when she kept saying over & over & over about a one on one, that's when I think it didn't take him long to sense that it just wouldn't work out. She should have just enjoyed their moment. She kept ignoring what he said up front about, he felt good about them. I would have to say that it was totally on her and because she got up first to walk out, I think she was then trying to 'save face'
I think it’s valid to say that anyone picked last for a one-on-one would feel this way. It’s absurd how he acted so shocked and turned around and acted like he wasn’t confident anymore in their relationship over this.
Ah maybe because he was receiving aspersions from her for doing something innocently wrong? Not only did Jess sit in the background and not engage with Zach during the group date, he still had immense feelings for her that she disregarded over her own feelings about not receiving a one on one date. Any relationship of which one party gets mad at the other for failing to do one thing is never going to last. Jess has to work on her insecurity and learn to bend.
@@Cypherus21 There’s been plenty of times throughout the season where multiple women felt insecure or sad about not being chosen for the one-on-one that day. People are coming for Jess and calling her “insecure” when anyone in their right mind would be questioning their relationship with Zach if chosen last. I can guarantee if Zach was chosen last on Rachel’s season, he would’ve expressed his feelings to her about this.

She wasn't wrong. If he was really interested in her he would have told her someone has to be last don't read anything into it. Would have reassured her not ditch her for feeling insecure by that fact. She was right.
Wow! he told her at first "I am feeling so confident about us" 0:14 , and almost 1 minute later he says " I am not feeling that confident" 1:07!! So bizarre

@@SuzetteBaginski i agree that it is contradictory. but You can’t really blame him for sending home all of the girls except one at the end. that’s how it works. he most likely has had his eye on one or two girls for the win already. nothing against any of the other girls, from his standpoint, they just aren’t his focus. it is hard to watch his elimination methods tho. all the girls are so sweet & he seems quite cold. but that is a blessing because it makes him much easier to get over. better for them to not have too much emotional turmoil over him afterward.
This is cut even from the TV episode... they always do this stupid shiT. And God knows how long it _actually_ was! It may have been a 20-minute convo!

Doesn't help that Jess accused him of doing innocently wrong things by spending time with other women, and that Zach already failed in meeting her emotional needs. It's not ideal to start a relationship with someone that you are already in disconnect with, hence there is no confidence or excitement in such a relationship going forward.
@@Cypherus21 why would that have bothered him so much though? Yes it may have made someone feel a bit 'put upon' if they don't feel like they should have to be responsible for someone's emotional needs at this stage, but where is the natural empathy and sympathy for her feelings? He didn't have to agree with her, but he tried to invalidate her feelings to protect himself, and that was just kind of weird. His level of defensiveness towards women is just kind of a red flag.
I'm sure that conversation was much longer than what we got to see. They probably went around and around and around trying to figure things out.

Loved that she stood up for herself, jess never doubt your feelings your instincts were kicking in and you were right. On a side note this guy has some narc tendencies 😳

No! This was a crazy meltdown that took everyone by surprise! All she had to do was keep her composure and she was going to get a rose AND and 1-1 at the latest possible moment which would have benefitted her because she would have gotten to hometown week!
She basically told him she was holding back for the 1-1 which turned him off really quick.
If she stands up for herself she's right and following her instincts but if he stands up for himself and follows his instincts he's a narc? Talk about double standards.

This conversation was so awkward to watch. There’s no chemistry & they were extremely passive aggressive with each other. Glad she decided to leave because they’re clearly not a match

Whenever a girl cries and tells him about their feelings and insecurities, Zach doesn't acknowledge it and feels he doesn't want to continue the relationship. It seems that he knows what he wants and needs but he doesn't care about what the other person wants or needs, and that is crucial in a relationship. I've been so hyped to watch him find love but after this conversation with Jess, I can finally see the big red flag from him. I'm so disappointed that it makes me sick to the point where I don't feel like watching this Bachelor season anymore. Zach only wants someone who is fun and easy-going, but he doesn't have the ability to confront the situation when things don't go the way he wants them to. He doesn't want to try to understand why the other person is feeling the way she does and just believes that it's not meant to be. I thought you are better than that, Zach!

I feel like Zach not liking drama has been taken to an extreme here...I guess he thinks the fact that she is crying is sort of a drama...and he just let her go...not sure how he would handle drama in real life if this is the case...

Totally unable to have difficult conversations, pushes Jess out the door when she shows some *valid* emotion, then is almost in tears himself saying "I can't believe this ended up happening with Jess." Like ??? If you felt anything for Jess (enough to almost cry about her) then how can you not handle it when she's showing you her true thoughts and feelings?? I can’t get past the rhino nostrils. They flare up when he’s pissed.
This guy is the type of guy who runs at the first sign of trouble. He doesn't like drama. Well real life and relationships have drama at times and one needs mature coping skills to deal with such situations with their partner. If he can't handle women getting upset then he isn't ready to be in a long term relationship until he matures more emotionally. For some men this doesn't happen until their forties. He is the type who does a bunk from a relationship at the first sign of trouble and moves from one relationship to the next instead of staying and resolving problems. Marriage is hard, it is a full time job, one has to work through problems with their spouse, if he can't don't get married.

Jess is so beautiful that maybe she was never in a situation like this before, when she goes back home, I can’t imagine that many guys won’t be begging to be with her. For her young age she knows what she wants and I give her credit for that. Best wishes to her and her future, I would love to see her as the next bachelorette….
I wish the best for her as well, but I don't think this environment is right for her. Once she gets a little older and becomes more mature she might be able to handle it more. She's very sweet. I think dating in a more traditional way would be better for her.

Most women don't really think like that. I think you're projecting a male perspective of dating on to her. Romantic rejection is less of an ego issue for us and more of a connection-based thing. She's not sad because she's used to an easy ride in dating, she's sad because she really liked this man and she slowly realized he may not feel the same. It's also, again, such a male perspective to assume that any beautiful woman is having an 'easy' time in dating because they have a higher number of men hitting on them.

I think Zach likes to have things more on the surface, doesn't like dealing with 'hard stuff'... so he will pick a woman at the end who is easy-going, agreeable, etc, not too much emotional challenge. He's a simple guy in that respect, and so sends woman home when he can't handle their emotions, their maybe deeper sense of things and reality. That said, Jess certainly set herself up to be sent home, by saying she won't fight for a man !? That's not a winning attitude! Lastly, I have to say, SOMEBODY has to have the last 1 on 1... maybe thats not such a bad thing, Ariel took it very well having an almost last 1 on 1. Zach's choice of 1 on 1 order may not have anything to do with level of interest (i.e. taking the stronger attraction ladies before those he feels less strong about) in fact it may be the exact opposite.
She's so right about the one-on-one. If you haven't gotten a 1-on-1 at her point in the season, you're probably there just so they have contestants. It's not Zach's fault, though. The producers decide when the lead has a 1-on-1 and with whom.

Ok so I just watched the entire episode and I see how they cut Zach off in this very short clip and it makes him look bad! They should have uploaded the full conversation (not that it would matter to some since our interpretations and comprehension are all different). He was actually trying to understand and listen to her express herself. He was trying to comfort her. His point was that she didn't need to wait for a one-on-one to be vulnerable and open up. He doesn't understand why she is holding back just for that day to arrive. After seeing how their mindsets are different from each other he no longer felt confident about them. That's why at the end he changed his stance about them. No longer aligned. Looks like he got quickly turned off. Weeks gone by and she hasn't opened up. That's too bad she waited. She was busy harping about a one-on-one and that frustrated him. He said there is a no rule that you have to wait until a one-on-one to be vulnerable. Jess is also right about her insecurities because the longer you wait for a one-on-one, most likely his feelings for her aren't that strong. They both have their rights and wrongs. He was emotional and I could tell he did like her. It just doesn't show here in this short clip. Another misunderstanding and disagreement similar to Greer's situation with Zach.
It's all about an one on one. ABSOLUTELY. Wow. She was a possible candidate to marry him. Of course it's about a one on one. This process goes at a rapid speed. So absolutely it's crucial to get a one on one. And Zach was shocked he says that what happened was with Jess. He never gave her any answers.

You guys know what? I am so done with Zach. Jess has a valid point about the 1 on 1. I can totally understand her. With that said, Zach is an asshole, tbh. The way he treated Greer in previous episode was not cool. Greer was only trying to connect and relate to him about the covid thing and he snapped at her. Also, its like as soon as the women seek some form of reassurance and validation he turns ice cold. Like he literally within 5 mins said he felt so strong about him and Jess connection and as soon as she expressed needing validation he was like Im not so sure about our connection, this makes me feel anxious or whatever he said Im paraphrasing. Wow I really cannot stand this guy. The ladies that he hasnt picked has dodged a bullet tbh. I can see that he probably has some anger/temper problems. He gets so impatient and frustrated easily.. Red flags everywhere. I have never developed such a disdain for any bachelor as much as Zach. He just seems so emotionally cold and callous and lack of compassion. Jess was a sweetheart she was quiet and shy but I loved her. I also loved Aly too and felt that she was such a sweet girl. I honestly feel sorry for whoever he picks.

100% agree this is a huge red flag. What happens after the show when you get into an argument with your partner (which will 100% happen)? Because so far he’s shown that he will downplay their feelings, making them seem in the wrong, and do a complete 180 on how he views his relationship with that person. He cannot handle the thought of someone opposing/disagreeing with him. Best of luck to him, but idk if his relationship will last

Jess has a lot of issues to deal with. I agree with many of the comments that she stood up for herself and Zach doesn’t get it. That being said it looks like wherever she is from, there is no girl as attractive as her, so she gets to call the shots. This probably was the first time she wasn’t the most desired by the guy she wanted. You need to deal with the unfairness of a situation whether it’s relationships or work. The more successful individuals can figure out solutions & not count on playing the victim.

Man she dodged a bullet didn't she? Run Jess, Run!!! This was the ultimate test for anybody that suffers from any type of anxiety and this guy is just not worth it. His ability to talk through any kind of conflict is pitiful. He uses women's vulnerabilities and questioning attitudes against them. Time and time again he's reacted to gossip and pettiness from these young girls in this house instead of following his own sense of reason. Jess you will move on you will be fine. Thank God you did not end up with this jerk. He's a waste of time. He needs to grow some balls.

It's insulting for him to act so clueless about the importance of getting a 1 on 1 date. "What am I missing" he says. DUH!!! Has he not seen the show? Who get the 1 on 1s are the ones they're most interested in (usually). That's why such a big deal is made out of getting one. That's what all the women are praying and fighting for each and every week. And he knows that. Don't act so clueless. Never in the history of the show has a woman got to this point in the show with no 1 on 1 and made it to the final 2 or even final 3. Possibly even final 4 I believe. What would a Bachelor say to the womans family at hometowns? "Oh yes I'm so interested in your daughter for marriage. I just didn't think she was worthy of being asked out on a single date. So no we haven't had even one date yet." How would that fly with the families? Not good.

Literally just told her he was feeling confident and then a minute later says he isn't feeling confident. 🙄 I know one thing, I don't see anything from this guy that is worth fighting for at all. He's incredibly dull and lacks personality, he constantly sends mixed messages, he doesn't have any real sense of humour to him, and he is not attractive (in my opinion, I know that is very subjective). I was really taken aback when he was talking to Greer and she was simply trying to relate to how he felt about COVID and how it came at the worst possible time and he reacted so defensively to her and invalidated her feelings/thoughts...anyways, I would have sent myself home after Night 1 🤣

So, Jess was the quiet and mysterious girl in the corner that he was kinda into and wanted the 1-1 for next week. Turns out, while she is 23, she is still a little sheltered teenybopper at heart. That was an epic meltdown and I wanted Jess to go far. Very disappointed after last night but she lost it...and never knew he was actually into her.
Maybe, he never thought a 1-1 was necessary...maybe he could have done a better job of saying that but he is limited to what the producers allow him to say.

This guy is a total a-hole I did not like him on the Bachelorette, he should have never been The Bachelor, he has no personality, he doesn't open up and express himself, he cuts the girls off when they speak to him as far as how they are feeling if he doesn't like what they say he sends them home. Jess was lucky she got out when she did. She is too nice for him and shame on him for not acknowledging her feelings, first he said they had a good connection, then all of a sudden, he's not feeling it. They neeed to send Zach home....don't even think I will watch the rest of the season, one bad apple does spoil the bunch sometimes.

To be honest as shitty as it is that she didn't get a one-on-one I think he did like her and was eventuaally going to ask her out for one but she felt too insecure. I think if she went in there more positive knowing that as a duiter her job IS to pursue the Bachelor he would have given her a rose. But she didn't feel confident and that's valid. Meaning it wasn't meant to be. But I do feel there was some self-sabotage. Zach wanted to be wanted HE is the bachelor. I could never do the shoe cause I'm like Jess wouldn't wanna be chasing.
If she hadn't gotten a one on one yet or in a long time, to me at least, I would get the hint that he wasn't THAT into me, Jess is very insecure and I don't believe she is ready for marriage or at least not in this format. I liked her at first but by last week and going into this week, I wanted her gone.

She’s really a strange woman she had a fear because she didn’t get a one to one and he explains he felt confident in their relationship that’s why he didn’t give her a one to one it should just be about wanting more one and one is to get to know somebody to know if you want them to go on and on he said he didn’t give her a one to one because he was already confidant and he thought they got on the same page at all it was to her was wondering why that’s kind of selfish he explain why he didn’t do it and she was all in about 101 so she blew it

Jess is a kind soul, but she her insecurity and defensive attitude get the best of her. Not only was Zach patient with her and trying to give her validation by saying that she was on his mind since Day 1 and not to worry about the one on one date (especially since he had to give Charity another chance), Jess would not let it go. Throwing more grievances toward him is not attractive because you never want to be in a relationship where you are chastised for doing something innocently wrong. Jess ruined a potential relationship with Zach, and it appears she was going to even get the rose.
