- The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) Office of Climate and Energy hosted a virtual listening session on Michigan Healthy Climate Plan implementation: Driving clean industry. The Jan. 16 session focused on the state's goals for "driving clean innovation in industry,” including these priority action areas:
Encourage industrial innovation to advance energy efficiency, fuel-switching, and deployment of cleaner manufacturing technologies prioritizing facilities in low-income and disadvantaged communities that may receive significant benefits from reduced industrial sector emissions.
Reduce methane emissions from various sources, including but not limited to food waste, organics diversion, and wastewater treatment facilities with a focus on methane reduction strategies that will bring significant benefits for low-income and disadvantaged communities.
Building off previous work and input, we’re continuing to prioritize and deepen our work on implementation through these listening sessions. The intended audience is anyone interested in or who has experience with a climate action area of the Plan, including local governments, state government, nonprofits, businesses, community members, etc.
