- A 5 day Sambar hunting trip in the Victorian high country chasing the elusive Sambar deer.
On this trip we spot over 39 Sambar deer taking 2 nice stags. We camped up high glassing from the ridge into some awesome looking gullies turning up deer after deer. The weather had it all on this trip with sunny days to thunderstorms to 60k winds making for an exciting few days In the mountains.
Filmed using a Nikon p900 camera and Sony cyber shot.
Hope use all enjoy and please feel free to subscribe and like if you do enjoy these videos.
Great work fallas keep it running great reasons to hunt 2 good stags endless possibilities.allways go hard.
Great video guys 👍
Watching that family group cross the river was pretty cool they didn't seem to be in a hurry? Don't worry about justifying why you shot the stag mate its not a crime to reward your efforts with a less than 30" stag ! If you keep spending 5 days at a time in the bush you'll turn a big boy up eventually so keep it up and the rewards will come 👌
Cheers mate. Yeah sure was interesting watching them cross. Yeah was definitely a stag I’ll remember for a while.
That’s the plan, I’m not gunna shoot them on my couch
Thanks mate, that was sweet!
Great trip fellas, I love the footage of the deer in the river, I think there was something else going on there, they don't usually take that long to cross rivers, apart from the little one struggling a bit, there may have been dogs around???
Cheers mate! I thought they possibly winded us with the thermals dropping but not 100% sure. They certainly looked like something was stirring them up. Didn’t see any fresh dog sign though but never know
Some great footage and great stags to remind you of the hunt. Loved the video of them crossing the river. Well done 👍
Cheers mate
Great work ,and fantastic footage .
Cheers mate
Good hunt well done
Cheers mate
Nice video, thanks for sharing. That ridge is a great place to video deer from and use to produce some good size trophy stags but not many big ones there now days given the huge increase in hunting pressure over the last ten years.
Yeah I have heard that area cops a flogging and talking to a hunter that hunts near there he said not many big stags have come from there but guess you just have to be right place right time.
@@intothehighcountry we got a few good ones from there about 6 or 7 years ago in the 29" class but haven't seen anything that good since. Went up there a few times this year but only saw small stags. Could be worth a look down stream or up that other river near where you park, It gets good about 3km upstream on that river. First walked up that hill about 40 years ago.
@@austargets that’s the way. I certainly haven’t seen any much bigger. I seen a similar model closer to the car park last year that I passed up. I heard they had an ada hunt there at some point so I reckon a lot of people get in there now days
Well done! Great vid. Plenty of inspiration for a newby like me looking for my first deer. I’ve recently picked up a P900. Looking forward to testing the crazy zoom up the bush 👍
Great camera.
Hopefully you’ll get one soon.
