My uncle has one of these. Base model completely rusted out and had over 200k. Paid $500 and daily drove it for years. Good, simple, semi reliable vehicles
My mom had a 98 Jimmy slt when I was in high school. Learned how to drive in it. Learn how to do burnouts j turns basically everything you shouldn't do in a car. Had my 1st date and got ass for the 1st time in that truck. It was bulletproof. And i fell in love with it. So much in fact that Ive since owned a few myself in the past years. All in significantly less good shape then my moms from the early 2000s that's to be expected tho. All were great
I LOVE THIS VIDEO! Well done! I still have my 2000 GMC Jimmy SLE, currently has 209,560 miles on it, it has many of the same features as this Diamond Edition sans those dope diamond leather seats! I bought Jimmy in 2000, it had 16,000 miles on it and was a rental car before I bought it. Fantastic vehicle all around!
Awesome review! I gave up my broke down 2014 Mercedes in March. My mom gave me her 2000 Gmc Jimmy Envoy! I have spent a lot on normal breakdown and wear and tear but it's been worth it! I wanted a SUV and God blessed me with this GMC Jimmy Envoy!
This and the rare Envoy edition is probably worth having over the SLE, SLS, and SLT models. These Diamond and Envoy editions are starting to become extremely rare to find as they didn’t make as many of those as the other lower trim models and the Bravadas & Blazers. I never heard of the Diamond edition until hearing about it on RUclips early this year and also never heard of the Envoy edition until 10 years ago after finding it on Google. I remember old family friends who had the SLT version from 1999 or 2000 and I used to get driven to and from preschool in one of these trucks between 2000 and 2001. I don’t know what happened to that SLT Jimmy, but apparently it had issues after a few years and it we never saw it again. No one ever stated what was wrong, but it could’ve been something simple if it wasn’t engine or transmission issues, but we don’t know. No one said anything. Other than that, these S-10 Blazers made by GMC and Chevy were 1/2 decent considering how they’ve held up over the last 20-30 years. They’re probably not as great as the old Nissan Pathfinders or Toyota 4Runners, but still not bad compared to other GMC cars and trucks from other brands not nearly as reliable as these Blazers. Neat find, nonetheless, I’m impressed.
I have same vehicle but mine has the original brush guard and runners on the side have 156,000 original miles. Still has the Bose 6 disc cd, heated seats, have towing package, and my 4 WD still works... Love it... Has great pulln power and actually is quite fast.
Thanks again for great content! You have such an excellent variety of new and old cars on this channel, and you always know when to give credit where it’s due. Keep it up bruv
I bought a 2000 SLE Jimmy last spring, and other than the 4WD module giving up the ghost and the computer controller for the dash ventilation being a can of worms, the rest of the truck is the most luxurious vehicle I have ever owned. Put a fresh set of Cooper Discoverer's on it, and even with the 4WD on the fritz it's unstoppable in the snow. Hoping to keep it on the road for as long as possible.
The Diamond Edition was built to celebrate the Diamond Anniversary of the Jimmy nameplate. There were only about 6,000 built and they came with almost every option.
They didn't all get the brush guard. It was standard but could be deleted. They only came in black, pewter (like the one in this video), dark blue, and dark red. I wish I could find a good one but I haven't seen one for years.
I have a 1998 gmc jimmy 4x4 . I got it with a bad Transmission. 4th and od the rest worked. I rebuilt the Trans with sonex billet parts and a heavy duty clutches and alto steels new vavle body and a Trans cooler added on. 170,000 runs very smooth.
My dad has a gmc diamond addition like that but the heater doesn't work and driver door doesn't close good and the transmission is messing up a little bit. He is planning on giving it to me but im not sure what he has plans for it. Btw im in Alabama and it does still run
Hate to break it buddy but not ALL Jimmy's have floor shifters.. mines a 2000 and it's on the column and I've been getting parts together to swap it over.. but then got ahold of a set of pedals for a 5 speed blazer and a wilwood brake master and clutch master cylinders, so might swap to a T-56 6 speed now.. idk we shall see I already have a stage 4 4l60 already so.. guess it depends if i can sell my trans and get money to go toward my manual swap
The interior of this SUV has a lot going for it. Distinctive design and style. Unfortunately though they dropped the ball on the exterior. Boring. Bland. Incredibly forgettable in every way possible. GM did the same treatment to the Jimmy Envoy model. NEXT!

That is probably the nicest GMC Jimmy I've ever seen. Usually they are all rotted out. Not to mention it is a special edition

My grandfather used to have a 2001 and it will be something I’ll always remember

Just inherited one. Only 117k miles, not the diamond edition but still very slick rig. My grandma had good taste

Cool car! Diamond must have been their swan song.
I had a 95 Silverado with 5spd and that 4.3 motor. Descent power and 21mpg.
I Have A 2001 Diamond , still have the bull bar on the front but not the steps
Excuse my ignorance Im installing the diamond edition front seats on my chevy s10 extreme. What exactly does the passenger lumbar do? Please inform
I've had 3 of these. My last one was so rusted out and I shouldn't have bought it, but I thought I could save it lol
Let’s go bro I have one out here in Florida
All Jimmys have floor shifters. It’s the Blazer that’s on the column
