i am a 37 year old women and i am a second year marketing student, Vee you made my varsity life so easy, before i wached your youtube videos i was really struggling with time management and my essays. thanks for being an inspiration not only to the youth but to women who went back to school in her late 30s. keep up the good work and continue doing what you love and enjoy. love from Namibia
When you apply to Ph.D. programs in the U.S., you must have a clear focus for the degree. Additionally, you need to outreach to faculty members within that discipline at specific schools and research how your interests align with the programs. You have to be laser-focused on your 'why?' and how your research will contribute to the larger community(i.e., what you will do with the Ph.D./future career goal(s).
Love how you're so real and open but still maintain your boundaries and keep certain things private and off social media until you're ready to share. Love you Vee💛
Ok so I did a master's at NYU and just based on your other videos, you are way overqualified for NYU haha. Not even saying this just to make you feel better, US schools often reject people that are overqualified because they know you'll get into the Ivys. Go for Columbia or UPenn or something!
Yes we want to see your life Vee !!! You're such an inspiration for us, don't forget that (and of course we missed you). And I personally think it would be great to make the 10k run a challenge.
YES VEE! WE WANT TO SEE YOUR LIFE!! I know like 3/4 are students interested in academic advice but please don’t alienate the other 1/4 that just come to live vicariously through you!! More vlogs please 😁
hey, Vee. 💛 I followed you when I was struggling stu-dying (haha) and you were, too (writing something it two hours etc.). I now have master's in veterinary medicine. I dont need any motivation to study or support to stay on track. HOWEVER, I always come to check in with you. I am interested on what are you doing even though our lifes are very different now. I feel like you need to trust in yourself more and create content you truly want to make - thats what attracted me to your channel in the first place, thats what will attract others. Dont force yourself to create content you are not happy about or proud of just to please og followers. That will lead to burnout!
@patricia Soares is right, programs like NYU's are faculty driven so you normally need to reach out to faculty directly and then apply. That way, if they like you, they will help you pass the admission bar. I've seen almost 2 dozen people get into NYU will low ( like 2.9-3.2 gpas, 2-3 ecs, minimal volunteering etc ) that were able to get in on full rides by just talking to their future PI. It sucks you need to do that since SO FEW PEOPLE go out to call professors these days. Networking is unfortunately the main reason a lot of people qualified people are able to get jobs, programs, and applications in general. I'm happy you are happy but I want more people to know this.
Vee, Treasure - don't stress - you got rejected because for sure, there is definitely something so, so much better waiting for you - just trust - it will happen - 😍
I have been watching your videos for two years now (even some of the old ones with the essay crisis). You really inspire me even as a black male that by hard work an dedication to can achieve your goals and dreams.
Heyya 💛 Idk if it's the same for anyone else but your Sunday videos always go up around evening time for me (I'm on Central African Time) and that's perfect because Sunday's are usually a reset/preparation for the week ahead. Your videos are always a great watch for me because seeing you go about your life, accomplish the things you want to accomplish, organize, etc is really motivating. So, to answer your content question in short 😅 I think Sunday for vlog/week or day in my life style videos and then Wednesday for the more structured/specific topic type videos would be great! Wishing you all the best!
As someone who had to make hiring decisions and similar things before, I just wanna say, that sometimes it's so hard to make a choice because there is so many great applications but only so few positions you can fill. So I am sure your application was amazing and they just had to make some tough choices. It's so inspiring to see you be so open about it!
Hey Vee! Thank you for this sweet video, I have only watched a couple of minutes of this when I'm commenting but here goes: yes, i think perhaps we/I feel a bit disconnected from you and your channel right now. But I think that is okay. Your life is changing, and so is your audience. And maybe when you start focusing on making different content, your audience will change. And that is okay too. Looking forward to seeing what you're up to going forward
Vee, you are amazing, and a world leader! Who knows why you got rejected. There are so many crazy things that can happen that cause you to be rejected that have nothing to do with you. Maybe someone donated money & took your spot. Maybe the person reading your application was in a bad mood that day & rejecting everyone. Their loss! I do like that you are trying to get better each time!! That can't hurt. I would love to see your vlogs.
Darling Vee: There is not enough space here to answer all those questions or give feedback properly, so I will say something brief here and then DM you what I really would like to fully communicate. Congratulations, again, for the invite out to LA. I was wrong about which awards show but the one you did attend is still very awesome and very significant to current affairs, plus it looked incredible! Now, I will reserve the rest for a bit later when I can write to you and only you and not the whole world. That connection is still ongoing, I believe, and there is no shame in your success moving forward and, therefore, no shame in your not having as much opportunity to do RUclips. Just like your age, your career is growing up with you and you are smashing ceilings!!!! Always, always INCREDIBLY PROUD!!! Loads of Love, 🌹 and the young people
You are an inspiration, your transparency in your attitude will win trust from everyone, your focus determines your reality, you are amazing and wish you success in all your endeavours !!!
Yes, you're coming to South Africa!!! I've been following your channel since 2018 and to have a chance to possibly meet you in person is mind blowing.💛💛💛
💛 I love this, thank you for sharing. It helps a lot of us gain clarity. And, I do love your career content it keeps me on my toes and gives me can do it attitude. I love your book content on IG as well, the time you spent with Jack and Ehis 💛
With growth relationships will alter and change, and the relationship between us (as your audience) and you will shift dependent on the events in your life. Don't feel bad about this. We completely understand, especially since your routine has become more irregular, the strength of connectivity between you and your audience will fluctuate. Also, I'm so excited for your book content! Recommendation to anyone is 'This book is Anti-Racist' By Tiffany Jewell and Aurelia Durand, a beautiful book that helps you understand your own identity and how to become less passive in fighting racism.
i definitely noticed that a lot has been going on for you but that is the beauty of life and i feel like whatever you are passionate about we would like to see`! it would be amazing if you did raw vlogs as well as some book videos etc. That is exactly what i nedd!!! love you so much
We would love to see you a little of everything, your stories keeps me motivated, so it would be great to have extended versions, as long as you feel comfortable sharing.❤🌱
💛 Yes to book content! I love channels with intelligent book commentary. Good luck with the current phd application - I'm sure you'll find a university and supervisor to suit you and your planned doctorate. I enjoyed your thoughts on how to make sure your channel matures with you. I originally came across you a few years ago when looking for revision advice to share with my son - so I'm not your core demographic - and feel quite motherly as you talk about turning 24 and moving into a fully adult life.
💛 love these kind of chatty and catch up videos so definitely looking forward for these and you inspire me to whole different level and I only do and keep doing what I do coz I have someone like u to look up to and cant wait for its my turn to contribute to the world. one more thing that little girl from Zimbabwe that moved to UK years ago would be beyond proud of this Vee today just like I am. I am 17 rn and u most definitely are one important person in my life. I will be moving to UK this year being a little brown girl from Sri Lanka who wud be the first female to go to university from my family . I am coming there to chase my dreams and to work for what I stand for. if I am lucky enough would love to meet you one day. loads of love vee
I honestly really loved this video, Vee, it was bravely honest and I hope you are very successful! I just wanted to add, I am well aware you have finished your education but I loved the study with me videos you did, study hacks etc. I would love for you to do a work with me or some more of your older content, even though I love the new content nothing will beat the Oxford stress videos! I don't mean to down your work now; just take this as an area in which you can show more :)
I love following you and I don't feel disconnected Vee, I feel inspired to make my life more like yours and thus become closer to you! Even if we never speak to each other, I walk the same motivated empowered path as you, and live by your values. 💛
💛 Vee, I would love to see vlogs! Following all the amazing work you do on Instagram (and youtube ofcourse) is so inspiring, and I think many of us would be grateful if you make/post some vlogs!
I would love to see the raw, less structured vlogs you are referring to. I would really appreciate that. And I think making the 10km a challenge, makes it a little more interactive.
Vee, great video. Really good and what a coincidence, my b'day is on the 8.4. as well :)). April people are usually strong and action focus. Brilliant you are so transparent and open. I am sure you will find your dream Phd course. Who else, to be honest, should be accepted. You are showing already that you can do a lot, research 'topical' subject and change people's life. Well done. Maybe, you might tell us in the next post why are you so keen to do your doctorate it in America? Why not Europe, Asia, Africa so on - there's so many great institutions around the world. Switzerland is for example a great place to do it... all the UN offices are around and I bet, they might be very happy helping you with your research.
Hey Vee, thx for your honest and spontaneous videos! Will you post videos with study tips for university in the future? I am a 41 year old mum that could use some tips for my second year at university! bye Valerie
Vlog your life and continue the speaking on here. Maybe balance it out in a way that works for you and won’t overwhelm you. Would love to meet when you in SA. Keen on collaborating as well. One Young World ambassador here and I enjoy your vlogs!
it's the "I know my family and friends don't watch my channel so I can share it here"... I thought it was only my family and friends who don't watch my channel🙃😅😁
I would love raw vlogs! Btw when I open this video my phomescreen ligths immediately go up to maximum, I don't have that with other videos, Am I the only one with this problem?
