  • How could Frank Lampard set up Chelsea if he replaces Maurizio Sarri as manager? The Chelsea legend won the Champions League as a player and could bring the glory days back to Stamford Bridge. If Lampard were to take over at Chelsea, what would he need to do to bring the Premier League back to West London?
    ► SUBSCRIBE to STATMAN DAVE: bit.ly/StatmanD...
    One of the major criticisms of Sarri at Chelsea was that he didn’t make use of World Cup winning midfielder N’Golo Kante. Kante has arguably been the best ball-winning midfielder in the Premier League for some time now, and Sarri’s decision to use him in a more advanced role caused frustration among Chelsea fans and arguably limited his midfield’s ability to win the ball effectively. Expect Frank Lampard to deploy Kante as very much a ball-winner in his side to great effect.
    Chelsea have a plethora of talent at both full-back and centre back, and Lampard will be keen to make better use of these players than Sarri did. Due to Conte’s influence on the current players, many of the full backs are better-suited to playing as wing-backs and so I wouldn’t be surprised to see Lampard switch to a five at the back when he takes the reigns at Stamford Bridge.
    With Eden Hazard departed, Callum Hundson-Odoi should be made the creative fulcrum of the team from that left flank. The young English forward will miss the start of the season with a major injury, but when he does return I’d like to see Frank Lampard put that trust in Hudson-Odoi and allow him to become Chelsea’s chief creator - which he’s clearly good enough to be. Christian Pulisic will almost certainly be Chelsea’s only new arrival, and it would be sensible to play him in a more central role - as either a CM, AM or false 9 - whilst he adjusts to his new team.
    Finally I’d expect Frank Lampard to make better use of Chelsea’s world class academy. The likes of Reece James, Tammy Abraham and Ola Aina have put Chelsea’s lack of trust in them to shame having had standout campaigns in 18/19. I’d expect Frank Lampard to be more trusting of Chelsea’s youth products and potentially look to build his team around homegrown talent!

    You left out Kovacic although I believe you were operating under the assumption of Kovacic not staying at Chelsea. Kovacic is underrated but played in a position that isn't his best. He should either be playing Jorginho's role or even Kante's box to box role under Sarri but I think Sarri played him so he could get his 3 best midfielders together. If we're going to 4-2-3-1 or even a midfield diamond, then I'd like to see Kovacic given a chance in the pivot or as one of the 2 central midfielders in the diamond, i.e. the middle 2 in the 4-1-2-1-2 formation.
    With Lampard and Makelele back at the club in a coaching role, its safe to say Kante will definitely play a major part in midfield and he will start if fit. Kovacic and Jorginho aren't suited for the AM role which seems to be going to Mason Mount/RLC.

    I'd like to think their youngsters such as, more like basically, Mason Mount, Tammy Abraham, Reece James, RLC, Ethan Ampadu and Hudson-Odoi will get more responsibility driving the club forward. Don't necessarily think everyone will be starting from matchday 1 but they will slowly be eased in and get rotational playing time. Someone like Zappacosta should be shipped out with his head first, James should be nr2 after Azpicilicueta on the RB slot, Reece James may even be nr1 RB in May whether Lampard fancies RJ over or Azpi gets moved into the centre(doubt it).
    Also interesting to see where Zouma future lays at, can't see them getting rid of another CB. Will Kenedy return?
    Lampard has a really nice and interesting squad on his hands, young hungry players and places ups for grabs.

    • @fcrn748
      @fcrn748 5 лет назад

      Id pay to remove Alonso. We have an actual left back and finished last season shutting out Arsenal's devastating strikers with a back 4 while playing on the front foot. Phase R.James into the RB spot of that Europa final back 4 and it could be really strong, Luiz was one of the leagues best defenders last year. A much better place to start than going to a 3 and removing last years progress. Other than that i think a European loan is best the careers of Ampadu and Tammy. I would have liked to see Sarri get a transfer window and look at Mount and RJ, thats a shame even if Lampard works out.

    • @emmersonjones1394
      @emmersonjones1394 5 лет назад

      It’s not that we got found it’s because their were major issues behind the scenes between Conte and the board. As soon as the rumours began to come in the media the atmosphere at the club became really bitter and Conte lost all his passion that he showed the season before. By Christmas he was already wanting a move away. You also have to take into account the fact that we were playing UCL fixtures and that caused a big issue particularly as our squad was so shallow.

    • @samueltos
      @samueltos 5 лет назад

      I agreed that the issue behind the scene drastically affected us. Even before that we found it hard to beat teams easily as people were catching up to the system, premier league manager are tactically adept so they countered us and make our formation ineffective. We were basically defending and capitalizing on opposing team error even before December when the behind issue was slowing showing.

He couldn't play Sarri ball as what he did was dribgble a bit, cut inside and shoot. Never did he make the quick one touch pass or stay wide. I was all for letting him have his own way now and then but the lad just didn't care enough. He said it enough times that as long as HE thought HE had a good game then he didn't care what the manager thought. We should have sold him 2 years ago for the £180 mill. • @aliakbartajaldeen4124

    I say Lampard would play 4-2-3-1, I think it suits Chelsea well and he's played under that formation so much times, he's bound to understand how to use it right. I think our best players for each position are Kepa, James, Zouma, Christensen, and Emersen in defense with Ampadu as a backup. Loftus-Cheek and Kante in holding midfield with Bakayoko as a backup. Hudson-Odoi, Mount, and Pulisic in the attacking midfield with Kenedy and Musonda lurking in the background trying to prove themselves again. Then our striker would be Batshuayi, as good as Abraham is, Batshuayi is a no nonsense goalscorer, give him the ball and he'll score. In the past, Chelsea had wingers who demanded the ball constantly, and always expect a passback when the striker gets the ball. Now we got Hudson-Odoi and Pulisic who love feeding the striker with passes and crosses. This is a new generation for Chelsea, it might not look great on paper, but I'm so confident with this squad. People will finally see what we're blabbering about when we talk about our youth players. Who better to lead this new emergence of youth into the starting 11 than Frank Lampard who they idolize and Jody Morris who managed them already, knows what they can do, and believes in them. C'MON CHELSEA!

I’d say the key man for us at the moment is Jody Morris, who has been excellent in helping our youth come through. Don’t get me wrong I’ve loved having him here, but anyone that thinks he took the championship by storm hasn’t a clue about the championship. At times we were painfully out witted by experienced managers, including losses at relegated Rotherham and Bolton. 4-0, 3-0 losses to Villa and Heavy defeats to Leeds

    Firstly Frank was club vice captain never club captain!
    Secondly 4-3-3 and 4-1-4-1 pretty much same same, wide forward from first formation just drop deeper into wide mids/wingers
    With a sole deep centre mid (not going to say holding or defensive mid as he isnt either he is a deep lying centre mid playmaker) jorginho is locked in! His style of play is to drop deep and link defense to attack hence he is deepest of 3 centre mids to link with defense. Imho he isnt suited to further up (I know u have stated u were assuming he would be sold, but should never assume!!).
    Otherwise u would play a 4-2-3-1, which would drop kante next to jorginho.
    Starting xi
    Kepa
    Dave-zouma-christensen-emmerson
    Kante-jorginho-mount (would go to the centre of the 3 behind striker in 4-2-3-1)
    Pulisic-tammy/michy-pedro/willian
    Once recovered from injuries Dave would be swapped for reece James, mount would swap with RLC and pedro/Willian would swap with CHO

    The issue I have with these vids is that its just expected that Tomori and Mount will just start playing for Chelsea. This is the equivalent of if Chelsea had signed them from Derby and the PL is a big step up. No doubt they deserve an opportunity but you cannot just forget bout the likes of Luiz or Christiiansen. For me, Lampards job is to find the right solution for Chelsea, not just trying to make Chelsea like his former team like Sarri did. Sarri's biggest mistake was using Jorginho alone as a DM, like Fabregas, Jorginho needs support and Kante loves to as a midfield 2. 4-2-3-1 could be a good option. Again, Lampard has to experiment. But going backwards to a 3 back is NOT the answer. Sarri has introduced an exciting football filled with quick passing as well as composure to keep the ball, just like Man City and Liverpool. But apart from Hazard we didnt have the players to make the style competitive. But like Poch at Spurs with time, the players can learn the system and improve. For me, our squad for NEXT SEASON - KEPA, WILLY- JAMES, AZPI- CHRISTIANSEN, LUIZ, RUDIGER, ZOUMA-EMERSON, BABA RAHMAN (Remember him, youtube his game v PSG, get rid of Alonso)- KANTE, JORGINHO, MOUNT, BAKAYOKO, BARKLEY (and RLC, but looks likely he'll be out till Jan, hope not)- PEDRO, WILLIAN, PULISIC, CHO (If he too isnt out till Jan, then MUSONDA)- ABRAHAM, GIROUD, BATSHUAYI. Castillo, McCormack, and which ever other youth products you mentioned Dave need time. This is probably the most youngest Chelsea squad you'll ever see and you CANNOT underrate EXPERIENCE. We need young talent to freshen things up. But to expect Mason to be starting every game is madness. Very interesting season coming up, hope for all the right reasons.

      Have you watched Mason Mount?

    • @ahmedthebassa
      @ahmedthebassa 5 лет назад +1

      @@StatmanDave Yes. And he's looked really good in the Championship. But the PL is a big step up especially with the physicality. RLC is a Unit and struggled with the physicality at first. So he needs time to adapt. And it's pathetic to only mention mount and not a single time talk about Jorginho and how would fit in. We have only seen Jorginho the Regista but he's so much more than that. He's a quality mid that if used in a different formation could be an important player.

    I definitely think 3-4-3 or 3-5-2 are the formations we should be looking to play. Our current personal is tailored towards that. It's a real shame that in the one summer when a lot of Star players are available we have a transfer ban but Chelsea definitely have some quality to work with. I'd go with Kepa in goal, three center backs: Azpi, Christensen/Luiz, Zouma/Rudiger, midfield three of RLC, Kante, Mount/Bakayoko/Jorginho, wingbacks would be Reece James/Moses/Pedro/Zaps and Emerson/DaSilva. The two up front Giroud/Abraham and Pulisic/Willian/Pedro. Injuries permitting of course. Our offense is where the biggest question mark is IMO. especially after last season because we were the lowest scoring top six side even with a supposedly attacking manager. Our defence got us third place honestly and I'm worried now with reduced attacking quality we could be stuck in a couple of games. We've never been a side that creates hella chances, and I think for lampards sake, they need to ensure we can get goals. Our defence, even in the shittiest season when we finished 10th wasn't that bad, it was all the attacking players letting us down that season.

    RF: Willian; Pedro
    LF: *Pulisic; Hudson-Odoi
    CF: Giroud; Abraham/Batshuayi
    * When Odoi comes back from injury, Pulisic is likely going to the right wing.
    ** They are not giving up on Jorginho so soon. He's probably going to be great with Kanté in the DM position. If not, Loftus-Cheek should fit in the role when he comes back from injury.

Kepa can't play every game, Caballero is getting old, Bulka is leaving/left and Robbie has retired . We need to talk about Jamie Cumming more.
    With Reece injured for a mysterious period of time, who would you play in full back? Castillo or Da Silva over Zapa?
    You also didn't include Jorginho or Kovacic. Are we letting both these lads go? I think Kovacic can be a good player to rotate and we should negotiate a good deal for him.

No way Lampard will look to remove him. .A back 4 of Emerson, Luiz,Christensen, Azpi is probably the best place to start, with James challenging at Rb. Would rotate Tammy and Giroud up top and play 3 of CHO, Willian, pulisic, Mount and Loftus cheek behind them. Enjoyed the video Dave but I do take issue with you claiming that Lampard "massively exceeded expectations" at Derby County, that really is a baseless comment that promotes Lampard as some kind of managerial wonderkid when the reality is that he just about achieved what was expected of him.
    Derby finished with 74 points under Lampard, that's one less point that the previous season.
    Over the last 5 seasons Derby County have only once dipped below 74 points once and have consistently been in the play off challengers.
    I'm sure Lampard will go on to do great things but there's no need to over egg him.

      BW Media I thought that Dujon Sterling would be mentioned, think he would excel in a wing-back role.

      @Zair 7 we all know he can't really defend but he the only deep playmaker we have kante in one Barkley int Even one that's why I think he will play next to kante
