Very good video for once someone is talking sense about The Blades. Their has been some nonsense spouted by other Premier League fans and so called football experts who have never seen us play. All this talk of how we will get annialated on the break with our centre backs overlapping!! we kept 21 clean sheets last season our defence is rock solid as Palace and Bournemouth have now found out. The midfielder just drops back to cover for the CB when we attack we very rarely get caught out at the back. If we are relegated this season it won't be because the system failed it will be because we are facing extremely talented footballers that are capable of individual moments of brilliance every week.
I completely agree with that. Wilder has built a fascinating side. It’s player quality that worries me. But in a way you guys are like Bournemouth when they got promoted with players from league 1 to championship to premier league.
Statman Dave we progressed so quickly like Bournemouth did that we have ended up with players that played for us in league 1 which isn't a bad thing because they completely know the system. If we do stay up then hopefully we can afford higher quality players but it won't be easy to attract higher quality individuals. This system really does require a lot of selfless work especially by the midfield to drop back and help the defense out. Also finding centre backs to play this way won't be easy either. But for this season alone the players we have will hopefully grow and improve as the season progresses. But great video just hope you haven't let the cat out of the bag to all our opposition. Lol
Tami dis Both very good players and very good suggestions both would work very well for us. The overlapping rcb role would be a perfect fit for Phil Jones but both players are a little out of our price range/wages etc but if we stay up then hopefully that will all change.

As an Aussie who is relatively new to the game and doesn't understand positional tactics that well, I'm loving these videos and the explanations. Keep up the great work!
Check out their goal against Palace. Duffy was key as the CAM in the 3-4-1-2 providing connections and progression last year; started this season with a flat midfield three in 3-5-2 and Enda Stevens (LWB) inverts as a forward whereas wingbacks typically stayed extremely wide and were overlapped last year as mentioned. Wilder and Knill continue to evolve and extremely impressed with their tactics as an Arsenal fan who has followed them for last 12 months. Thanks for the vid Dave. Have a look at the Blades goal against Palace. It came about from an overload on the left side. O'Connell the centre half, created the overlap with Freeman on the ball. That's why Chris Wilder is actually managing a professional football team in the Premier League, and not just making fatuous comments on RUclips - or are you just waiting to be 'discovered' and show everyone where they're going wrong.
Why would he avoid it? A big part of it is the confusion it creates in opposition defences. No defender is going to be confused having an inside forward running at them, but when it's a centre back flanked by a wing back and a central midfielder it's harder to know which one you close down
It'll be lovely to see Sheffield stay up in place of Palace. Palace have done nothing in all their time in the Premier League but look to survive. Now, survival is a fair, attainable ambition for the first two or three seasons, but after a team should be aiming for higher than just midtable safety season after season. That's how they'll naturally stray away from the drop zone, by aiming for steady improvement each season instead of just settling and resting on their laurels. Leicester are a great example. Even after losing so many of their heroes of their fabulous fairy tale league triumph, they haven't just settled for midtable obscurity. They had a great scout system in place to replace their title-winning heroes with young prospects who could grow, and now look at them. The sky is their limit. So, yeah, I hope Palace crash and burn this season and lose Zaha on the cheap to Arsenal, Spurs or Man Utd next season.
