TL;DR: We're done asking corporations to play nice, we want to make them legally obligated to, and we're going ahead with it no matter how much they try to appease or distract us. It's not about convincing them to do better, it's about making SURE they do.
Couldn't have said it better myself
and.... what are you doing exactly? I agree with this but what does complaining do for you? the only real way to get change is to not buy their next games, and hurt them in the only place their feel it, their coffers. I really dont see how a petition nor sending this to some random boomers in court who couldnt understand the live service model will do. just stop buying ubisoft products until they make good ones.
@@cadturt9295 From what I gather, they're doing something by doing nothing (not purchasing their games), the petition is just an additional rung to the ladder people are trying their best to reach.
@@cadturt9295 he's doing the very thing he can. Spread the word. You could stop buying games from Ubisoft but it wouldn't be enough. He's spreading the word so more people can learn
You're like 10+ years late to the party. I was done with modern gaming as soon as they made you pay to play on the internet service you already are paying for.
I'm still disgusted at the fact that they threw The Crew away like garbage.
I get it but ya'll act like it was the best game in the world and there's no other open world racing games out there. And also as if the crew was the only game that was shut down. It's just something we have to put up with. Yes, it's stupid, but we can't stop a company from doing something like that.
@@masteroftheblaster9523 So you think it's ok to just give up on a game like that if all publishers were to start doing this?
You should be disgusted! GET MAD! BRING BACK OUR GAME
It had two sequels
@@masteroftheblaster9523 It's not about how good the game is. That's irrelevant. It's about cause and effect. You need to think about the bigger picture. If we allow companies to kill games now, they won't ever stop.
Publishers do not want us to own any of our games. You can see this with new games like Black Ops 6, they announced that the game *has* to have a constant internet connection. Meaning they will not allow you to play offline. Companies will justify their anti-consumer practices everytime and it's us consumers who are the ones being punished for legally purchasing goods/services.
The more publishers/corporations do this, the more it spreads like a virus. It will not only affect the entire video game industry, but all entertainment/media industries (including movies, tv, music etc.) until it becomes standard practice. It will even spread to industries that you least expect because the corporate world works like that.
By being submissive and continuing to purchase goods/services from these corporations, you're actively saying to them that you are completely ok with not owning anything and that your rights as a consumer are meaningless. That there's no consequence for them to exploit you like that.
Laws will not change if you don't stand up for yourself and fight for it. Value yourself more than the bullshit that corporations feed you.

It makes them look more realistic, since you can easily hide the details.
Yea it really goes hard.
@@ToaGresh300a.k.a what games used to do with dirt on the lens, lens flare, bloom, dirty cars, screen shake. All that in NFS Rivals. But now we have games looking too clean and bright it looks like a high res mobile game but runs worse. Solar Crown and Forza Motorsport.
@@QimchiyAgreed. Games looks way too clean and lack atmosphere these days.
@@Skrenja its really odd because mobile games like CSR2, console games like GT7 and PC games like modded Minecraft have shown that you can have all three. Clean visuals, Good graphics and Atmosphere by using color and reflections. Solar Crown barely has reflections, Forza Motorsport likes the color grey..
Okay... offline mode in The Crew 2 and Motorsport it sounds good, but how about The crew 1?
Fun fact: If you buy The Crew 2, you'll get dlc "full game ownership"
Why is that sounds like a unlimited rent of Ferrari?
Fans are already making a server emulator for it.
They don't want you to play it because it's superior to the soulless cashgrab that TC2 is.
@@Jankesoowskithen it wouldn't have died. But it did.
@@Qimchiy It died because ubisoft pulled the plug, most likely to force people into buying their newer titles. Notice how every single ubisoft game from the past few years struggles to even repay the costs of production.
I wish there was more I could do as a U.S. citizen, but I exhausted all my options months ago. I hope word gets around fast in the EU and I hope lots of people sign the petition. There’s a real chance to make some changes here.
I hope people like dunkey and moist critical with a significant audience help spread the message. I don't use social media outside of yt so I don't know if they've said something somewhere but as far as yt, I think it would be an great idea for them to add an intermission at the beginning of their videos and a link in their outros/desc/comments etc. to help spread the mission. Good news: They're gonna make TC2 available to play offline
Bad news: This is not enough
once laws are put into place and we start seeing real good results. And only then, it will be enough.
This soft balling by Ubi is just them trying to think they are the good guys when really, those games will still die one day and last games like the crew are still dead.
@@IvanioXD to make it enough, outlaw companies controlling the games and sue Ubisoft immediately for damages and monopoly.
@@IvanioXD The point is to make it so that game companies that prioritize the online aspects of games make more singleplayer comptatibility and also outlaw the act of just deleting a game from people's libraries when they already paid for it, which was what happened with The Crew.

It’s a win on the surface, but to properly win, we need to dive to the ocean floor. Good job Jake!
NFS on VHS effect looks amazing btw
Great video. Unfortunately, I'm not in the EU, but I hope that petition will succeed.
This isn't just about preventing games from being delisted, it's also about pushing companies towards fairer licensing models. If a license to use a brand or specific code runs out, you shouldn't have to shut down a game for that reason alone.
The 80s style commercial is an interesting choice for such a contemporary issue
Thank you for being a voice in media preservation. Keep this up. 🙏

Another reminder to everyone that thinks the EU Initiative is a law or too vague. It's not. It's something that gets the ball rolling. The EU lawmakers _have_ to respond to it and discuss it. There is no downside to the EU Initiative despite what some popular twitch streamers have to say about it.
Vague laws is cool only when you trust in your goverment. When corrupt govrmenent officials want to do something dark - they often use vague laws to perform repression. Imagine AAA studios paying officials to ban some indie games, because it can't be preserved UwU.
If you don't account for corruption and bigcorpo talks while making law, it will be used against you.
Don't you ever heard about anti trousers laws used to silence opposition?
People are congratulating Ubisoft like they really did something...... but offline modes in games should be a given.... not a " feature."
Yes. People are too forgiving and caring in this situation. Offline mode should be standard, by default, not even a question.
KEEP SPREADING THE WORD, ITS SO EASY! DON'T LET THIS CAMPAING BE FORGOTEN LIKE MANY OTHERS!♥
Attention! The Crew 2 and Motorfest games getting offline mode while The Crew 1 is revived by community thanks for coming by.
It's getting revived? Source? They said it would be quite challenging to do.
@@Pappalardium They confirmed it themselves a little bit ago at some gaming thing, thing is this is only a small tip of a bigger iceberg, games like Gran Turismo, NFS, and so many more are affected when there's no offline mode.
Babe wake up, He’s saying stop killing games again!
fantastic PSA's you've done
This might get lost in the sea but I think Ubisoft has bigger problems. If you know about Star Wars Outlaws you should have the gist. Maybe the announcement is an attempt help save face but given what investors have called for Ubisoft to do, offline features may end up deprioritized. At best.
The Crew and SW Outlaws are two unrelated problems, yes, but it must be said, for that reason, the more significant issues will be dealt with first. Dark times ahead for Ubisoft regardless, and this MAY affect the campaign.
It be alright.
Best case fantastical scenario, Ubisoft wakes up and starts making smaller yet high quality games that's cheaper to make without the DEI bs. Eventually bringing back Splinter Cell and the good old Tom Clancy name that might be too offensive for IGN.
Also with pressure from investors, the CEO steps down. I'm ignorant of whether this is a good thing but he did try to justify Skull & Bones which is a horrible game so I think he's out of touch.
We still are missing justice for the original The Crew. Stop killing games campaign still isn’t complete.
It’s for every video game ever to be released in the future, not necessarily just The Crew, that’s just the catalyst
Stop buying into online only games and you wouldn't need this silly campaign.
@@coltonwilkie241 lol that’s like telling people to not preserve art in a gallery. Also, do you have any alternative to this “silly” campaign? Because it’s either political activism or destroy future games by inaction. Telling gamers to “put your money where your mouth is” literally never works. When have you ever seen a petition succeed against a gaming company? The company might pretend to care and make some changes, but then a year later you’re right back to where you started, with everyone involved having already forgotten about it. World of Warcraft, TF2, everything. Petitioning to show how much you care never works unless you pressure the government to hold them accountable for stealing your game

@@Plate_ProductionsThey haven't shut down these games yet so there's still a bit of hope.
Solar Crown is terrible. Adding offline to it won't fix the fact that's it fundamentally an awfully made video game.
wow the early 2000s vibes from this i love it ❤
This is like a company making minor concessions during a strike. This is when you squeeze.
The Stop Killing Games campaign will forever be an ongoing battle, not just keeping The Crew from being lost to time, but games in general.
Indeed. It is a fight that has only started, but will people be able to hold the fight long enough? Gamers are not known for their attention span. But we can only hope
They appease us because they are afraid. If they were confident in what they were doing morally, they wouldn't resort to this.
It's about money, always, never morals
Admitting is one thing, keeping your promise is another. This is a good move by Ubisoft, but I don't trust them after this stunt. Let's be honest these companies wouldn't care enough to implement an offline mode.
Yea. And this offline mode is only for their game motor fest and no other. This means all their other games like rainbow six siege, and old games like the crew, will die and continue to stay dead
They should shut down these games gracefully. Remove the DRM, and implement custom servers. Then I'm okay if they shutdown and stop selling the game.
Yep. Wanna stop supporting the game? Sure. stop supporting it? Go for it! But let us keep what is ours.

I want an ad from Ubisoft that says "you keep buying games that are a live service this is your fault"

Played The Crew alot in college. One of my favorite things to do in the game was to roam around, blasting music while being in the lookout for other plauers in a pursuit chase. Anytime id see someone running from the cops id come swooping in and start ramming the cops to them off of the other player. Had wayyyy too much fun doing that. I miss it
being awake at midnight hearing ads like this on tv while forensic files is playing used to be the most horrifying thing
Please help me find the ad this is based off of :(
Goldwater Law Firm's Chantix Commercial was my main inspiration for the original ad.
Good work on the style, thanks for contribution of spreading awareness about the initiative, and for clarifying the nuances of this situation
Still doesn't excuse shutting down The Crew 1
It really doesn’t
That intro was so convincing and unsettling. I wish anyone released standalone games again. You buy a physical game and can play it out of box forever. No patches, no updates, no DLC, no pay to win, no forced always online!
I agree, stop killing games. Wish you guys had more subs
THE LEGEND IS BACK
Always online games are a disgrace
I've been warning people like you for years. But you guys ignored me. Told me to "get with the time" or "everyone has internet". It's the corporations that you should be getting angry at for doing this in the first place.

I'm really glad the community is angry at nacon for making TDU Solar Crown online only.
KT Racing as well
I'm gonna be honest, TC1 probably can't be saved even by Ubisoft rn. There is very likely a "stop work" stipulation in the contract where Ubisoft had to stop development. And by the time people were super upset, Ubisoft didn't have the production capability to render an offline mode. Considering the revival project for TC1 is not being hampered by Ubisoft in any way, it's likely that they are letting the community revive it as to not get in legal doodoo. #stopkillinggames absolutely still needs to happen, but I'm not certain Ubisoft is the real bad guy in this particular scenario
Nah Ubi wouldn’t shout themselves in the foot like that… well maybe… wouldn’t be the first time. And Ubi will 100% become a super villain and fight against stopkillinggames.
They should do something like allow you to save the installer or have a disk where you can save the game legally

It sucks that the US government is so awful the people have zero say on what politicians should do. At least in the EU people can make a petition that has to be looked at by them, but over here we have absolutely nothing like that and we have to hope and pray that politicians will do something (they won’t, because they get corporate money)
