- Trip on the Nautilus Belle Amie to Guadalupe Island, Mexiko to get up close with great white sharks. To see one of the ocean's top predator is a unique experience that I can highly recommend. It also showed once again that these animals are very shy and cautious and not the blood thirsty killers.
All the footage was taken with a Sony RX100 M2.
I went on the Great white cage diving adventure in September of 2017. I had no idea really what to expect but big sharks turned out it was the most spiritual experience I have had so far. My travel buddy had no interest in sharks and in fact thought the yellow fin tuna was a shark until I pointed at the GWS meandering straight at us. She figured it out fast. We were lucky to dive at least 5 times a day. Sharks on every dive! Really if I did not know better I would think they were trained to come over when cages were in the water.
While I was in a cage chilling out just watching them swim around, next thing I saw was a shark going after the tea bag next to the cage I was in. Severed the lowered cage next to me air lines. Florin our master switched tanks before the divers even knew what happened. Never a dull moment on a trip like that!
I have loved sharks since I was young. We would go fish off the dumps in Brisbane CA; at night. We would usually catch sand sharks, leopard sharks or stingrays. We always released them enjoying the fight they offered. Lots of others fishing for stripers would throw them on the shore as trash fish. I would drag them back to the water to try to save them when the people were not looking. I was all of 7 years old at my youngest age and never back then would have imagined some species of sharks would be endangered.
When we were able to go out on our boat off Alcatraz we would be lucky if we could reel in a shark or whatever took off with the bait. A few times I was pulled across the boat when I got a bite and the fish took off one time lucky my pants were grabbed to keep me from going over.
It i hard to top a trip like the trip we had with the Nautilus Explorer.
It seems like you had an amazing time at Guadalupe and it is great to see other people being passionate about sharks. Do you plan to go back to Guadalupe? I went back last year (there is another video) and it was even better. The sharks were more active and came to the surface much more. There were also many big females including the famous shark Lucy which has a broken caudal fin but that doesn‘t stop her. She is the boss there!
Beautiful video! Going to Guadalupe Island in Sept 2019.
Thanks Jacquelyn. I just returned from Guadalupe and it was even better this time. You will enjoy it. Which boat are you on?
I believe it's the Volmar V. I can't wait!!
@@Jackie_blue_12 I have never been on the Solmar V but I heard it is a good operation :-)
@@LukasWalter The person I'm going with is the team leader, next year will be his 19th time going on the Solmar V. This will be my first time and I can't believe I'm actually going! I've wanted to see this beautiful animal in person for so long. My friends all think I'm crazy...no not crazy, very excited.

Great, which boat will you be on?
spectacular ~ Just booked a trip for next year on the belle amie- Any pointers that you wish you knew?
+Roxanne Alexander If you want to maximize your time in the submergible cages be ready at all times. Often a spot opens up and you can get some more time in. As far as taking pictures and video, be patient and ready at all times. Couple times something spectacular happened when you least expected it. You are going to enjoy it. the belle amie is a great ship and the crew is awesome.
+Lukas Walter Thank you so much. Anything you wish you knew before going? This is going to be a trippy experience~
+Roxanne Alexander Nothing particular. the "know before you go" of the sister ship the nautilus explorer pretty much sums it up: www.nautilusexplorer.com/faqs.htm
Thank so much~ Can't wait
Great video. Were you on one of the Nautilus boats? I was there the end of August and returned again late October. What a rush! I see you got some video of "Sad Face."
Thanks Steven. I was on the Nautilus Belle Amie. Great boat and a great experience seeing Sad Face and the other great whites :-)
Lukas Walter which one is sad face and why are they so beat up 🐟
Shark at 45 seconds. Has scars along left side that look like a sad face.
Mating, fights with dolphins whales, and prey :). Great video..
