    Howdy! Another possible reason why people may want to use an external controller for drawbars is if they have the digital drawbars today on the Nord but prefer physical ones. Here I found a modern-day equivalent keyboard controller to the one presented in the video that is somewhat affordable as well: amzn.to/2ZHWahV (affiliate link). If you look in the video description here, I provide a few options and flavors you can check out for other MIDI Keyboard controllers. You could make an entire RUclips channel JUST on keyboard controllers because there are so many to choose from each with a different set of attributes to consider. Thanks for watching!

    I have an electro 6D and FA 08 currently but the Nord pianos are much better so using midi I set the piano engine to External keyboard to Lo and play that on my FA 08 and my other keyboardist does the organs on the Nord. So now that I’ve seen this video and your other video using a midi splitter or hub of a kind I think I can add a midi controller (cheaper than an actual keyboard) and assign the synth engine to that. So organs on Nord and then send the other two engines to 2 different keyboards or controllers and two other people can play. I see really useful and multiple applications. Any other time the Nord doesn’t satisfy, I’ve got the FA 08 for that 🤣🤣

      @Harold A - you are exactly right and you have taken these concepts all the way. Just one tip here is that when you go to play on the Nord itself, the "other two" engines will be heard unless they are set to the low zone. But yes, the 2nd person could be using a standard MIDI controller into the Nord with External to low assigned to Piano. Then you could be on the Nord playing the synth or the Organ (or both) directly from the Nord and completely independent of the person playing the piano.

    Hi ! Thank's a lot for this demo. I got a Nord Stage 2 : is the same thing possible with it ? I don't know if the midi implementation is different ...

    • @MyKeysToMusic
      @MyKeysToMusic  2 года назад

      Hello @Laurent MOUREN Glad you like the demo! Yes the same is possible with the Nord Stage 2 HOWEVER the Stage 2 has slightly different control numbers for the drawbars. So, you'll have to reference the MIDI controller numbers appendix available on page 52 of the U.S. manual for the Nord Stage 2 keyboard. You can find the manual on the main Nord keyboards website available as a PDF. Good luck with your MIDI work!

    Hello again Marc! I just bought the electro 6D and I wonder how can I control the transpose from my Korg Arranger Pa700 via midi?? I already use the arranger with a another Korg MicroStation and I just put a midi out port cable from the Korg Arranger to the Korg MicroStation and when I use the transpose feature on the Arranger the MicroStation change the chord either. Doing this I don't need to use the transpose feature on the Micro. It is possible to do this with the Nord? I just did the same connection between the Nord and the korg Arranger but the Nord is not changing the note when I use the transpose feature on the Korg. Thanks in advance!

      @MyKeysToMusic  4 года назад +1

      Hello @Hanán! You should be able to do this with your Korg and Nord. Go into the System Settings on your Nord and find on page/screen 13 the option to "Transpose MIDI at In". This should allow outside MIDI devices to send transposition information directly to your Nord while you play. (Note that it will not turn on the transpose red light on your Nord keyboard, however). It will simply make each note played come out as transposed while you play it.
      Hope that helps!

      @@MyKeysToMusic I did it Marc but is not working. I connected again the korg PA700 with the Microstation and is changing the chord with out problem. I plug the same midi cable again to the midi in on the nord but is not working. Thanks for your response !!

      @Hanán if possible, post a video of your current setup and how it's working between the two Korgs. Then I can see what your expectation is with the Nord. This should work provided the Korg is sending out transposition information (which it appears to be based on how you described it). So, I'm not sure why this isn't working exactly.

    Have you found a way to assign "All Sound Off" (CC 120) or "All Notes Off" (CC 123) to an external MIDI controller to be able to turn off all sound on Nord Stage 3? Those CC #s are universally used, but it doesn't seem like NS3 supports any CC # above 119. Not sure if there's a way to press "Panic" on a MIDI controller to control sounds on NS3.

    • @MyKeysToMusic
      @MyKeysToMusic  3 года назад

      @David Ha sorry for the delay on this response here. So no, I haven't found a way to do this. As you pointed out, I don't think the Nord Stage 3 understands any CC# above 119 and there seems to be no "all notes off" option. You could of course turn all three sound engines off via MIDI but this would require multiple messages and more when you consider both panels. But in theory, it would work but that's not exactly what you're looking for. If you do find a way, do report back and thanks for the good question!

    HEy I have a Nord Stage 3 76hp. I would like to purchase a 2nd keyboard to use the Dual keyboard mode. Any Recommendations? I have been researching some. I think the M audio 61 key station is alright, will it work?

    • @MyKeysToMusic
      @MyKeysToMusic  3 года назад

      Hello @Branson Palanio - Great question. I personally own a 61 key M Audio Axiom61 and it has a lot of nice features and makes for a good controller overall. You want to be sure you get a controller with the 5 PIN MIDI DIN out option like the MAudio Oxygen Pro 61 (Affiliate link): M-Audio Oxygen Pro 61: amzn.to/3eN0WnP
      Another option is the Novation LaunchKey 61 (Affiliate link): amzn.to/339RS7e
      Any of these keyboard controllers will be compatible with the Dual keyboard option so long as you make sure you have the traditional 5 PIN MIDI option. Be careful because the Oxygen 61 comes in a standard (non-pro) version which won't be able to directly connect to your keyboard so get the "Pro" version with the additional Standard MIDI out port.
      Good luck!

    Hi Mark, first of all thank you very much for your videos. ¿May I have a question?
    I have a nord electro 6D and a M-Audio Oxygen 61 IV. Can I use this midi controller for controlling my nord? I've seen the pitch bend video too. I ask because this midi controller only have usb conections, not midi in/out plugs. Reading the manual I think i can not control it by the usb. (I can not try it because of the isolation, my midi controller is in another town...)
    Thank you and hope all your people is fine.

Actually this device should work here I found on Amazon. Read the questions and answers from people first (affiliate link): amzn.to/2SsWost

    Unfortunately, and I've tried this, when in dual mode using the Nord Electro 6 and a keyboard controller (an Axiom Pro 61) as the lower organ manual, you can not independently control the lower manual's drawbars with the sliders from the controller while the Nord's drawbars continue to control the upper manual. I was hoping that the controller set to channel 2 as well as sending the CC data on channel 2 would work. However It is still required to select the Edit Lower Manual button on the Nord which means there is no way to control 2 sets of drawbars for each manual independently. Now as you have demonstrated, the controller's sliders can manipulate either the upper or lower drawbars depending on if the Edit Lower Manual button is pressed but just sad that you can't have two sets of drawbars controlling two different manuals simultaneously. Apparently the NE6 is not designed that way. Guess you have to spring for the Nord CD2 for that.

      Hi Lou. I have confirmed your findings. The Nord Electro 6 just doesn't work like that. Good idea though!

      Hi Andrea! Yes, it is possible to assign mod wheel and pitch stick controlled from an external MIDI keyboard. Additionally, you could map other synth parameters using various control knobs, sliders and buttons to turn things on and off as well us adjust levels up and down all from an external keyboard controller not unlike what you see in the video above.

    The Nord is connected to and communicating with Logic Pro. Appreciate the videos, thanks Mark!

      @
      belosh88 Thanks for your question and for watching the videos. There is no way to control external devices via the Nord Stage 3 drawbar by drawbar like this. Yes, you could set and control an individual drawbar at a time using the Extern option from the Stage 3, but the keyboard itself doesn't have the features of a true controller keyboard like you'd get from let's say "M-Audio" keyboard controller for example. However, as you see in the video, the opposite is quite possible whereby outside controller devices and software can control the drawbars of the Stage 3 via MIDI. The Stage 3 is more of a performance keyboard versus a controller keyboard beyond the basics. Hope that helps! Thanks again for stopping by.
