    hey Austin,
    I'm quite new in game development, I study applied computer science and know some programming languages. But what i want to tell you is that you really do a good job. My professor taught me Java back then and when he was explaining arrays and vectors I was like 'wtf are you talking dude'. My only feedback to you would be to keep up the great work!
    I hope I will learn making a videogame with your help
    Keep up the good work!

    I certainly agree with GrandAlchemist's comment. There is a rather calmness to your voice that makes the videos enjoyable yet very entertaining to sit through.
    I look forward to an intermediate/advance version of Unity C#.

    I have done a lot of work with Array's in other languages as well. As you know they are all syntactically slightly different - just enough to make simple mistakes by reflex. You point a good amount of importance at all the right points that make C# and Unity great. I also enjoy your humility / humaneness in your programming lessons - your easy to follow and listen to. Keep up the Great Work Austin! \m/

    Great videos man, I'm really enjoying your content and feel like I'm learning a lot. One critique I have is it sometimes feels like you're rushing through content and skipping past explanations that may seem obvious to you. I would like to see you take more time to make sure everything you're doing is very clear. I wouldn't mind watching a few extra minutes on each video since I find myself rewatching sections anyway. That being said, the videos have been very serviceable, I would just like to see more clarification.

    your videos are awesome and nice. you use zoom, you stick with program techniques applicable to object orient design .
    love the fact you use actual game objects and components.
    my only problem is sometimes your videos tend to go kind of long plus the video starts off continuing from last which is hard to catch up with for someone who just jumped in.

    Hey Austin, great tutorial series, I've learned more about C# from you than I have anywhere else! I just have a quick question about setting the values of spaces in arrays. Would it be possible to set all of the values in one line, instead of doing one value per line? I imagine this would be really helpful if you had an array with hundreds of values or something.

    love the vids, however when I ran mine all it would say was the I am cool, the other string would not print. Is something new with 5.0? AT 16:38 Line 26 of your code shows print (arrayString[1]); I tried using [0] and [1] neither would print both strings, however I did add both as...
    print (arrayString [0]);
    // I had to add this to make it print both.
    print (arrayString [1]);
    and both printed correctly. Did I do something wrong or again is this a Unity 5.0 thing. Amazing work though.

    At 16:12 (in the video) when you run the script it shows the new array set with the script, this does not happen at my end. Mine still show the previous string array, manually set with the 2 elements and their strings. What am I doing wrong?
    Win 8.1, Unity 4.6.0b17.
    Here is my script (Demo.cs):
    using UnityEngine;
    using System.Collections;
    public class Demo : MonoBehaviour {
    public int health;
    public string[] arrayString;
    void start()
    {
    arrayString = new string[5];
    arrayString [0] = "This is number 1";
    arrayString [1] = "This is number 2";
    }
    void Update ()
    {
    DamagePlayer (1);
    if (health

    Hi Austin, Pretty Cool tutorial, how could i crate something like a "dynamic array" of "gameobjects" ???
    I have a model with 5 Sphere colliders attached to It, and i have another model with a large collider that "swallows" those 5 sphere colliders and i want to show each of them on the UI;
    My "player" may get surrounded by more than 3 or 5 models like that, and I would like to store them on a dynamic array and retrieve them and list on the UI;

    I'm having some issues though which I think is connected with me having to use Vista? For example when you create the arrayString it shows up correctly in the obj properties but the values of it does not. I have searched high and low and rewritten from scratch but it refuses to show up. No error msg either. It's as if it ignores the "start" - section all together.
    Advice please.

    These tutorials are very helpful, I was wondering though - I'm still a noob when it comes to coding - I have just recently spent about 2 months learning python for Maya - coming over from that to C# - is there a rule of thumb for when you use a semi-colon and when not to? - although it does throw up an error - I'd like to memorize when to use it. I noticed when you have an assignment of a variable you put one at the end - but you don't have to put one when you are defining a function or a class or in if statements - am I correct in this understanding?

    • @KumarAbhinav2812
      @KumarAbhinav2812 10 лет назад

      whenever any statement has to be terminated, you use a semi colon, like want the methods to do a set of jobs for you, so you don't terminate it right there, the compiler eventually comes to know that the jobs of this method is done when you close the braces,if statement follows the same rule. on the other hand look at variable description,you've defined a variable and that's all you wanted to do,so you terminate that statement with a semicolon. hope I helped :)

      Thats because the script is written that it changes when the game starts. Thats because you kept that part in void Start() { }. If you want it to be in the inspector, keep the code outside void Start()

    Hello.I have been following these C# tutorials and i don't understand what does it mean if you type Demo.health- what does "Demo" represent in this statement,what does "health" represent and why put dots.

    • @ahkamn
      @ahkamn 10 лет назад +3

      Demo in this case refers to the class Demo. In your first code, you wrote public class Demo : Monobehaviour, right? That means, by typing Demo, you are assessing anything inside the Demo class. When you put a dot, you pretty much say "I want to use this part (that comes after the dot) that exists inside Demo". If it was Player.Mana, you would access the mana part of the class player. Health represents the health of the player, in which you typed public int health.

    In this script i notice that you made playerScript have the ability to access components from the Demo object by...
    playerScript = player.GetComponent();
    So shouldn't you be able to just do the below to alter the health of the "playe" object?
    playerScript.health -= #
    to write it out..
    void Update ( ) {
    playerScript.health -= 10;
    //The above should remove 10 "health" from the "playe"'s -- "health" component right?
    Just tested it myself and seems to work that way, is there a reason im not noticing that makes this not the best idea?

    • @markocoetzee6101
      @markocoetzee6101 8 лет назад

      The error means that you are either below the minimum index of the array or above the maximum. The problem might lie with the fact that arrays in C# are 0 based, meaning that the index starts at 0. in other words: Say there's 10 items in the array. The first item would be in position 0 and the last item would be in position 9

    How come in the script you named the array "arrayInt", but in the inspector it said it was called "Array Int"? And when you typed "arrayString" in the script it came up as "Array String" in the inspector? This is kind of confusing.

    • @TNTxCreations
      @TNTxCreations 10 лет назад

      You can't put spaces in the arrays, so to make it look better, the inspector guesses that you meant "array String". It is a common thing to capitalize the first letter of each word. Hope this helped. :)

    Hello, AwfulMedia, that's not your name or ? :-)
    I try with Game Developments books to learn the C # in Unity, but it's still not that simple and it takes a lot of time.
    Unfortunately, there is not much side easier explained tutorial.
    Or you know also other ways or method to learn programming?
    How is it as a new programmer, you can keep all this code in the head with years of experience or you should always print with what you've learned and retain your orders in :-)
    Thank You so Much

    hmm, array's are objects therefore they are initialized with the 'new' operator........ I don't understand this. Can someone explain this in more detail please?

    I'm sorry you kinda lost me on the static part. See what I thought you were saying was static keeps things the same, locking them in place so to speak but when you showed how it's more or less a shortcut. Can you please or someone who reads this comment reply with a different way to explain static.

    Ok. If anyone couldn't figure out why your array didn't change to 5 in Unity, it's because he hit play. That's when it changes. Took me like 10 minutes of looking through all the code before I saw his health dropping in the video.

    to be honest, you jump around a lot when you go from teaching one thing to getting more in dept in another explanation. I would be lost if this was my first time ever trying to code but its not so that makes it easier for me to understand what your saying. I love the videos and cant wait to start doing harder stuff.
