    Thanks. I was happily surprised that you responded so quickly. I am now 63, and the efforts that I've been engaging for the last 4 decades are finally showing me rewards. I'm understanding things I'd heard many times before, and even believe in their efficacy, yet I still wasn't getting the results that I had no problem believing could come. I'm now a happy "late bloomer", and its a great feeling to have. Thanks again. By the way do you do distance counselling one on one? I am not ready for it, but after familiarizing myself with the stuff on your website, I may come to realize more of what I don't yet know, but know that I'm ready to know.

    Im under the impression that Huna was devised by Max Freedom Long, with little input from actual Hawaiian culture. ( Not that means its not true or relevant)

    • @StewartBlackburn

      Huna is a word that means hidden, secret, or esoteric. MFL did create a system that he called Huna from what he learned in Hawaii, especially from the language. He filled in the unknown parts with Theosophy, with which he was familiar. What I teach came from the Kahiili family of Kauai and didn't have a name until Serge Kahili King called it Huna because that's a very good name for this esoteric system. It shares a little bit with what MFL taught, but it's mostly quite different. I hope this is helpful.

    Kahuna is a Hawaiian word, defined in Pukui & Elbert (1986) as a "priest, sorcerer,
    magician, wizard, minister, expert in any profession". the western concept of Shamanism didn't arrive till the late 40's.. and wasn't experienced till the 60's. it would seem like magic for a Shaman to produce consistent miraculous healings to a westerner in 1917 when Long showed up.
    archeology has determined Shamanism to be 70,000 years old. basically all successful paleolithic cultures had Shamans. it is absurd to think that ancient Hawaiians invented Shamanism out of thin air, they brought it with them. what is causing all the discursive attitudes is the relationship of Huna to the New Age movement that started in the 60's.. about the time surfers started hanging out in Hawaii, Beats an hippies growing weed in the islands bringing back what they learned.
    the level of rage about this is a bit disturbing.

    More clarity to help delete the junk that needs to be removed from my subconscious mind.

    • @StewartBlackburn
      @StewartBlackburn  5 лет назад +3

      Hi Careforcaregivers, I'm sorry to say, but that junk needs to be looked at before throwing it all away into a big psychic dumpster. You have built up a big collection of ideas and beliefs that no longer work for you, as all of us have, and the work is to see what works for you now and what doesn't work. This is the process of becoming wise. Wisdom is simply knowing what works for you and what doesn't. There are people and books that can help with this, but the bulk of this challenge is squarely on your shoulders. It takes both courage and persistence get through it all. I wish you good luck in this adventure, the greatest adventure of them all!

  • @jasonsims6862

    The philosophy you describe here sounds good on the surface but it doesn't acknowledge the fact that thought patterns have crystallized in the mind which limit the way humans express themselves in thought, word, and deed. To say nothing of the state of wellness, or the lack thereof, in another person's subconscious which you are unfit to recognize from afar. That's Karma, where no show of attentiveness to the present moment will render it obsolete. You could never teach the process in a book or on RUclips. Even a living Master of mysticism might not be enough to help where longevity is concerned. No use in giving half-ass information to desperately confused people.

    • @graemekaponourlich6261
      @graemekaponourlich6261 5 лет назад +1

      You need to go deeper into the philosophy to find what you are looking for but I can assure you it's all there. It's impossible to summarize the whole philosophy in a short introduction and unreasonable to judge the whole philosophy on the basis of one. This isn't a mystic philosophy so comparison with that is invalid.

      Huna is a word that means hidden or secret, not so much to keep the knowledge from others, but that it is subtle and esoteric. A "kahuna" is someone who know the deeper knowledge of any given subject - an expert. Huna is used to refer to the hidden or esoteric knowledge of the non-physical workings of life. Aloha.

    Sorry "hawaiians", but what he is saying is true. The Polynesian languages are based on Sanskrit. A phonetic range of Sanskrit. You took the language when your ancestors hacked their way out of asia and built boats and went to the South Pacific.
    Which means you as a group (who come here to violently exclaim "not Hawaiian") have some sort of slavery complex ingrained into your heads that causes you to be slaves even when all of your intelligent elders are long dead. After you killed off the other Polynesians who later went extinct. A lost people, spread out.
