I had absolutely NO CLUE that this footage and album existed! I was there on the night of the 30th at the invitation of a friend that passed long ago. Fond memories of this show and my friend.
I was there too front row! I'm friends with John Avila and went to every home show since Dead Man's Party at the Greek. I found myself in the "No One Lives Forever" video from this performance...:)
i know ... :) OB wasn't even -completely- a "c0mpletly" a thIng, even back then.....;) BUT... ... meanwhile.... ;) ruclips.net/video/y3xKyWemAr0/видео.html
the fuckin best band in concert ever.. mosh pit in the 80s was the best...growing up in LA so lucky to have seen them everywhere they played or as many places as I could. Once in a small HS gymnasium... no seats.. one big pit... THEEE most amount of fun. What a way to get rid of stress or anxiety! I'd be mellow for a week! fuckin awesome!
@tomgotcher Yes, he had other stuff to do. Like, save his hearing and not go deaf so he could continue owning the universe with his musical scores. We may not have Oingo Boingo anymore, but at least we still have Danny Elfman. We still have John Avila, too. And the rest of them. Just not together. But we'll always have Irvine Meadows. ;) x
What he said was that getting back up on stage would cost him years of hearing and it wasn't worth it and I don't blame him. The last year of OB cost him about 5 years of hearing his doctors told him (the interviews are all on youtube). I still think he could do a studio album , protect his hearing and avoid touring (thus avoiding singing the same songs over and over again).
It's got more to do with tinnitus. And as he said before by 94 he was sick of playing theses songs live over and over and over. He been doing Ob for 17 years, plus nearly 10 years with the MK.
I was slammin in '88 at the Crystal Ballroom in Portland, slaughterin' all the little punks ... best concert I've ever been to, and I was at the US Festival ... and saw U2 in '84, Floyd in '89 ....
@MagzHalo I understand him wanting to save his hearing but u would think he could do a studio album and protect his hearing. His film scores are ok but I don't find any of them extraordinary, nothing I would buy/listen to outside the movie. (& so many mediocre movies like Tim Burton's crap (with the possible exception of Batman). You can tell in interviews he misses OB & at the same time is annoyed that people bring it up. he wants to talk film scores. The rest of us just want OB back!
Well, I know it's never going to happen... BUT... If they ever did get back together, I sure hope they leave Warren Fitzgerald out... He's probably the reason Danny lost his hearing in the first place! Why was even in the band anyway?? All he did was drown out anything Steve played.
I love how, as time went on, they played this song faster and faster

If Oingo Boingo were still around today, this song would be maybe only 1 and a half minutes live.
Theyre playing may 18, 2019

I love the cinematic quality of the songs. I guess it was in the cards for Elfman....
Fantastic
I have been to hundreds of different shows. I saw them in 85 and if I could go back in time and see one show it would be that one. SO much fun
Flawless victory!
Wow! This is awesome! That guitar player bouncing like that! Crazy! Really tight band! Never got to see them live, but love their music.

the last look on Danny's face looked a lot like, 'i think i've just hurt myself...'
I was fortunate enough to see them once and the memory of getting punched in the ear is seared into my memory.

Who does the one person who disliked this want to be? A massive douche with bad music taste ;)
