Wow! ...and $41 for the frame plates is an amazing deal! Frame Plates + PDB + Naze32! Thanks for not charging us way more than this! I wasn't planning on building another but I'm rethinking that now just because of this frame.
Hi David, very nice build video. I am very happy that you continue to helps us and make a appearance in the rc world . Throught that your return back to your home land was the last we would hear or see of you. Thank you, for making the rc world a most enjoyable experience.
I've just had my first test flight with the new Naze board. WOW! It's unbelievably stable (NAZA V2 with GPS like stable) but also agile and pretty much perfect. The best single upgrade I've experienced since I put a SSD in my PC. I spent hours fiddling the PID's on the KK2 board (KK2 board for sale). Thanks David.
Hi David. 2 years after getting into RC and 14 multirotor builds later I'm just about to embark on my first Tri build (once I've finished my latest Armattan F1-6 quad!). The V3.5 kit I received from you last week looks great. Fantastic job on the setup guide and build log! Both look pretty comprehensive so there's plenty of reference info. My work colleague +IwancnobiRC (who posted a V3 RUclips review and also has a recent Mini Tri build under his belt) is on hand to provide some local help over here in Scotland so hopefully I shouldn't hit any major roadblocks! I'll be running a 4S long flight time setup using EMax 2216-850Kv & DYS BL30A ESCs. Cheers, Steve :-)
The Tricopter is going to be your legacy. The electronics side of the new board is a little outside of my learning curve, but I might have to challenge myself. I built a v2.6HV so long ago , I can't wait to purchase one of these.
Wish you the best sir! I really like your hard work! I never have a vertical rotor before in my life, but you are making me seriously consider it. Thanks for posting.
I'm more of a plane guy than a helicopter guy, but I still watch Davids videos all the time because the production quality is amazing and... Well... Let's be honest here, Davids voice is beautiful :P Keep up the good work!
Brilliant tutorial David. Thank you. I'll be trying this out on my Turnigy Talon tricopter. I got it at the beginning of the month and started the build. I've put a Naze32 Acro board on it, set it up with Cleanflight and flew it with the standard settings. It flys quite well but the tail authority and yaw rate is appalling!. Once again, thanks David.
Hey David, in case you didn't know. They have an RCExlorer tricopter default setting that you can select when setting up an open pilot CC3D board. It flies better than anything I've been able to do. But then I suck at tuning. I can bend some piano wire though.
Love to see the improvement over your tricopter frame David! (will eventually purchase it lol) Love the work done and also wanted to thank you for the great quality on your booms! I love the carbon booms purchased from you! my RCExplorer tricopter fly's great but sadly the flips and rolls training did not end well... quick tip, try to remember where you added all the functions when programming your radio and don't hit the disarm on middle flight... tricopters don't float like sailplanes! Don't know why... lol Cheers and keep up the great work David! Ed
I had an idea for a tricopter and with my knowledge I have no clue if it is feasible but back to the topic. I think it would be awesome to have a tri with a single boom forward and then call it the wavelength because the sign for wavelength is an upside down y
We miss you david! Your voice is so soothing ;) Great video, I haven't managed to order one yet as i have been busy with work. I will get one soon! 73 de M6EXH
David im setting up a naze32 (not built in frame) can you tell me as you use hitec, I have A9 as well. Can the minima6t receiver be used to connect via ppm, cppm or sbus? even the optima9? I cant find details of how to do it but I see at 4:00 you have a 9 connected. Is that only due to your frame type (built in naze) or can a naze (funfly) be configured the same way?thanks for your help.
Thanks for a concise and detailed setup explanation... Without a doubt, the single best description of setting up a Naze32 with CleanFlight. I can't wait to try it out on my pentacopter. And I can see a tricopter frame in my future as part of my growing fleet of RC aircraft. Have you noticed odd behavior in v1.9.0 regarding setting the receiver Yaw servo reversal? I wasn't able to select/save this setting in 1.9.0, but could in 1.8.1.
Hi David! Soooo good to see you making videos on your own! Best of luck! I want to get into DLG. Can you please make some recommendations? What is your favorite and best DLG made in Europe? Thanks!
was just thinking the other day someone should integrate the FC to the frame and here it is :) since the FC is part of the frame and there is no vibration dampening, how will that affect it ?
DutchRC ADVENTURES There is no reason not to have one of each version (or even multiples of). He who dies with the most tricopters wins : ) My count 3 black frames plates wooden arms V2.5 (from Davids CNC mill). 3 signed kits V3 (1 rescued from E bay). 2 pairs Naze32 Acro + power base plate (yet to be built).
Can you do a video where you compare different prop and motor combos that have approx same amount of lift? Like large prop slower rotating, smal prop high rev. 3 blade vs 3 blade. Really love your videos. Keep up the great stuff
Awesome new product! I'd love to get that, or at least get a Naze board and flash it with the special firmware. I'd like to see more FPV videos though, like going to different places having fun. Kind of like Team Black Sheep except the quad in their videos always just hovers around, whereas the tricopter rarely dips below 10 MPH XD
Is there any videos on were to solder everything? I am looking at the frames and see two + and - spots at every spot. And were do I add the battery connector? I have never built something like this (only planes) so I am a bit lost.
Was 2 days too soon on the order, so i bought Tri without naze. I still had a naze32 board lying around, so all good. My question is. Can i run front motor nr.3 CW and motor nr.2 CCW? Setup on mine is the same as in this video, where all motors spin same direction.
I am having trouble for some reason with the accelerometer when it calibrates and shows right side up it will move in opposite direction but with online firmware it works perfectly. all other steps including CLI I did with no problem
Thank you David! I do have a quick question. If I were to change the set servo_pwm_rate = 250 to a value of 50 could I use an analog servo? I thank you for all you do!
I am in love with this tricopter! Worth every penny and then some :) my question is, anyway of adding gps to this setup? RTH on this beast would be astounding! Thank you so much for all your hard work David, the quality of this multirotor is something to behold.
Hallo David, this is a nice Video Tutorial. I have a little question. When you calibrate the ESC, the Max Throttle is 1900. Should not previously a calibration, set the maximum gas to 2000 and after to the calibrate set again to 1900?
Nice complete setup video. I'll try that custom firmware om my tricopter because I have problems with a kind of flutter om the yaw servo with Cleanflight on a Flip32+ if you can recommend it. Had the same with a Pixhawk. Hope the new tricopter code will find it's way to the main branch of CF.
thank you,i been thinking of building a tri,and now i will. With the setting you did ,does it matter on the size of the tri-cxopter? The size of the motor and the size of the arms and props?
Hi David super great video, I wonder if I can do the same with a Naze32 acro board mounted on the Tricopter v1 like in the first video you did. also the links above shows the same page , I do not find the code.
hey David re the yaw drift, when I enter the adjustment to the MID value and hit SAVE it doesn't save, there is no confirmation in the status bar either, clicking to another tab and returning to the servo tab confirms default value 1500 still there. am I missing something obvious here? CF configurator 0.65.0
Wirklich viel besser, Danke! Für mein analoges Servo musste allerdings "servo_pwm_rate" runter gestellt werden, von 330Hz auf 50Hz, jetzt ist alles perfekt! Sonst ist 50Hz default, bei dieser Firmware nicht...
Is there any reason why failsafe in cleanflight is disabled in this firmware release, or was it just something you missed? Easiest fix would be to enable it in the copy/pasta CLI settings you have on your product page.
So would this firmware be better for my trifecta currently running standard cleanflight? Great tips on the servo.....I've been setting mine up all wrong
Hi David, One thing is really confusing, is there a reason the trimmed input for yaw should be the the same value but opposite sign entered as yaw serwo output?

I don't really know what to do. I downloaded the newest driver for my 64 bit windows system , the newest cleanflight app. My pc tells me when the naze is plugged in, but it won't let me flash it to connect afterwards. I have selected the correct port but I always get the message that the bootloader doesn't respond and the flashing failed. The blue LED on the Naze is constantly showing blue. I have tried flashing with different usb cables, and even shorted the boot pins for a reset. Nothing changed. It is my first attempt on flashing a flight controller, never had a multirotor before but followed your guide step by step. What does the blue LED mean and what else could have gone wrong? Ideas anyone?

Wow. This must be the most high quality tutorial I've ever seen. Good for absolute beginners but interesting enough for people with experience.
Wow! ...and $41 for the frame plates is an amazing deal! Frame Plates + PDB + Naze32! Thanks for not charging us way more than this! I wasn't planning on building another but I'm rethinking that now just because of this frame.

I was just thinking about this today; I even started designing the PCB.
Your designs are always so well thought through and elegant.
Super awesome!
your tricopter design was already amazingly simple and well thought out this is amazing!
The Tricopter is going to be your legacy. The electronics side of the new board is a little outside of my learning curve, but I might have to challenge myself. I built a v2.6HV so long ago , I can't wait to purchase one of these.
Pushing the limits of RC...and fashion! I love the flannel shirt and white bowtie!
I was ready to give up on cleanflight on my tricopter, tons of servo jitter and problems centering. This is sooooo helpful, thanks!
I flashed my regular Naze32 Acro with this firmware and my mini tricopter now flies great! Thank you sooo much for this!!!
And I will probably buy this frame and put on my RCExplorer Tricopter V3 as well. You can't get it much cleaner than this :)
It's the best video and the most clear I've ever seen on the Naze32 configuration. Good job David !
Hey David,
It's great to see you on RUclips again. Your doing a great job as usual. Thanks for all your hard work.
IVE MISSED YOU SO MUCH DAVID! COME BACK TO MERICA

I miss David so much! What an amazing rig! I hope you make some more videos soon. O and I'm buying this Tricopter for sure!
Awesome work as usual David!! Loved it
Okay this looks very nice! The editing is fantastic and commentary isnt boring haha
RCExplorer.se changing the rc world, one idea at a time.
Definitely the next level of entertainment. Great video! Can't wait to try the Naze!
Nice one Dave, nice to see you again
God bless you david, for everything you do for us.
Great video David. That little red hand is hilarious!!
Very Intelligent idea David... I just received my Naze32 Tricopter PCBs..Ultra Fast and affordable Shipping. Thanks.
Having problems with my kk2 controlled tcopter with yaw. I'm gonna try this on a naze32 board. Thanks David

Awesome. When you going to incorporate a gimbal. You and Trappy could come up with a TBS Explorer tricopter pro.

Great video. I have a question that may have been asked before. Could you rig a gimble to a tricopter?

I would like to know as well.
Anyone?
Over at flitetest they have info on the topic look for the episode tough tilt tricopters I believe

Nope

Is there any reason why failsafe in cleanflight is disabled in this firmware release, or was it just something you missed? Easiest fix would be to enable it in the copy/pasta CLI settings you have on your product page.
Hey David, thanks for great video can i use provided firmware with Flip32+ flight controller?
Hello David,
Can you please give some recommendations for the settings to use a Hitec HS-82MG or 85MG analog servo.
Thank you, Regards, Joseph.
So would this firmware be better for my trifecta currently running standard cleanflight?
Great tips on the servo.....I've been setting mine up all wrong
This is amazing David!
Sooo have you tried any other PID controllers? Will they work with the fancy Steveis code?
Does anyone here know why you would need to reverse the servo in the Cleanflight *_and_* on your radio?
I just want some multi rotor fun would you recomend a tricopters or quadvopyer
Hi David, One thing is really confusing, is there a reason the trimmed input for yaw should be the the same value but opposite sign entered as yaw serwo output?
+David Windestål @David Windestål do we still needthe custom hex file with the newest stable release? i have a trifecta and the servo twitches

I've been looking for the special firmware for the naze32 and the dump file but cant find it anywhere, can you help me please?
David, I flashed the firmware you mentioned and my HS-81MG tailrotor servo made a loud buzzing noise and burned up. Is this firmware only for use with a digital servo?
Is it possible to fly with LuxFloat PID controller and Naze32 Tricotper setup?
... nice video, David :-) ... great idea to get the Naze32 as part of the frame.
Masterful innovation David,
Wow, awesome video manual. Thank you! I have one question. Is this firmware suitable for any other tricopter with naze32 with baro? I'm really interesting in fly again on mini trifecta tricopter (after miniAPM was burned) with altitude hold. Thank you again =)
Hello David I have a quick question have u ever had the cleanflight program hang after u do the rebooting from the CLI. I cant get past that part of the setup. I can click other tabs but always ends up saying waiting for data and just hangs there. I am using the abuse mark naze32 full version if that means any thing.. Thanks in advance.
Anybody organizing a group build in the Los Angeles area? I'd like to build one but need some hand holding. Thanks.
im building a tricopter, but i cant get the servo work.. i have a naze 32 rev5 on ibus mode...i dont know the order of the motors or what chanel is for servo... do anybody know how to wire the naze 32 rev5 for a tricopter?
Hey david,
how bout working on a camera gimbal?
in any event, keep up the great work!
I would like to say that Quads and T copters are keeping the RC hobby active
It is so hard to find a place to fly the airplanes. So David the more you can do to get people into the RC flying of Copter's is great..
Have anybody tried full NAZE board on this frame? How does the altitude hold mode works?
Good work David. *_thumbs up._*
Did you start using a simulator for the bow tie?
I wish I could give this another thumbs up, I enjoyed the video and can't wait until I get the cash to buy this!
So on the Naze 32 you are running all props the same direction?
