Hats off to you for taking us along with your struggles. I've had my share of not knowing what the hell is wrong with my car. It'll help all of us in the long run. Did you test engaging all of the gears before you put it back in the car? Once you engage the gears you can spin the main shaft and watch the diff turn relative to the main shaft to determine what gear its in. But yeah anyways I'm subscribed for more updates!

I appreciate the comment! The transmission situation was resolved in another video, check it out. But to answer your question, yes. I did “bench shift” the transmission but it was basically a misconception. It’ll make sense when you see that video.

Deleting the fixed stabilizer linkage bar seems like a bad idea. That’s what maintains the fixed distance between the shifter pivot and the gearbox. That’s why Hondas are known for such great shifters because that solid bar linkage (both bars together) is more similar in feel to a RWD transmission. S2000 and Miata gearboxes have basically the same linkage, it’s just inside the gearbox housing itself.

I have same issue in my Gsr trans I just put in put I can’t find 4th or reverse
And second and what I would think would be reverse is to close for comfort like yours ima have to drop my trans too see what’s going on I replaced shift linkage and still nothing

If gearbox been apart then possible that 3rd 4th gear sleeve on the hub is upside down easy mistake and look like direction doesn't matter
