In this video I am out in a field south of Wilmington Ohio with a farm that is working ground and planting soybeans.
They are tilling the ground using their Agco Allis 9690 tractor pulling a Great Plains 1700 Turbo Till tool then planting soybeans with their Deutz Allis 9170 tractor pulling aKinze model 3600 32 row (15'' spacing) planter. Also in the video is the families Allis Chalmers 200 tractor pulling a wagon hauling the soybeans seeds to fill the planter.
In the video I give a little history on the tractors and explain the process.

Enjoy your videos Mike, don’t get to watch them all but certainly enjoy them, when I first went to America in 1998 on the Ohio State University internship programme I was not fa from Wilmington Ohio, little village of Port William, throughly enjoyed my time there for a year the went of wheat harvest the following year in Kansas.

And don't forget the AC 200! 😊 We had a neighbor that had an R72 (I think) with Deutz V8. Wow!! That thing was a beast!! Great feature, and thank you for doing these videos... and featuring the Allis Chalmers/AGCO machines.

How does the planter fold up for transport to another field and how what would be the width ? I've never seen a planter like that one . Another great informative video Mike
The entire planter raised up high and then hydrauliclly spins endwise. It probably just a tad under the width of the tractor with duals for transport.
It's a pivot fold. Turns and transports longways.
The Allis on the great plains doesn’t seem to turn very well on the headlands… did they have turning radius issues?
Thats a pretty narrow implement though. These tractors did not have a sculpted frame to improve the turning radius when the front wheels are set in for 30'' row spacing like the tractors today. I'm sure he could widen his stance in the front for a tighter turning radius but again overall that was a pretty narrow implement to make a tight turn with.
agreed it is narrow for sure… wasn’t criticizing just seemed to be struggling on the turns… 👍
