There is a safety switch which is pushed in by the chute or mulching piece being attached to the deck. I took the cover off and it wouldn't start. Put it back on, no problem. It takes only a minute with 2 easily accessible wingnuts and no tools. This mower starts up first crank each time and it is a joy to use. It also mows in reverse by putting the key to the reverse area after starting and pushing in the triangular button. It will stay in reverse mode until you turn it off. All in all, for my homeowner needs, I really like this mower-and at 70 bucks a cut here in Miami, it's already more than 1/3 paid for itself in a month.

I just picked up the 2021 Magnum well technically I purchased it today but it will be delivered in a couple days because I'm having them put ATV mud tires on the rear for me. I know that type of tire on a zero-turn will tear up some grass if I spin it in a circle however I live out in the country and just wanted this for my 2 Acres that I mow and has a Hill that covers about a quarter acre.
I got tired of buying $800 + $1,000 lawn mowers that wear out because they have some weird rubber wheel in the back that rubs up against another plate to move you forward and that rubber wheel wears out.
So I'm really looking forward to getting this Mower and watching your videos really helped reinforce the fact that I think I picked a good one LOL by the way I got the 54 in Deck with the Kohler motor.

I have a 2020 MZ Magnum. I love it for a small yard, for more than 1-2 acres go up a model.
Would the ZT Elite be appropriate for 7-8 acres, cut over two days once every other week? You mentioned possibly stepping up for increased speed on larger properties. What specific model?
I bought a 60" cut 0-turn Bad Boy at Tractor Supply with a 7000series Kohler engine several years ago just to cut my Bermuda sod grass with, my front yard only. Never cut wet grass, kept in garage, never been rained on. Only had 153 hrs on it. Changed oil at 50 hr intervals and changed hydrolic oil and filters twice. Had to replace battery this year at 150 hrs. It always cranked and ran perfect until battery died this year. Well it started acting up, spluttering and didn't run right so I took it to a mower shop, the guy charged me $200.00 cash after keeping it 2 weeks + (he put 4 hrs on it cutting grass before he worked on it) and said it was doing good but he made it worse. It hasn't cranked since so I called Bad Boy and they gave me 3 or 4 places to take it but a couple was out of business. They told me to take it to Ace Hardware in Lithia Springs Ga so I did. The guy there said it would take a week or maybe less. They have had it 2 1/2 weeks and now say they have ordered a coil for it. I was told when I dropped it off that the coils hardly ever go bad. I will never buy from Tractor Supply again because they do not service or work on them. I know the warrantee is out on it but with 153 hrs on it Bad Boy should back their product. I have a 72" 0-turn Exmark with right at 4000 hrs on it and other than standard maintenance, no problems. Need some help from Bad Boy!!!!
Me and you both I did get my money back but I had to fight like Donald Trump to get it after 4 months of no lawnmower and going in circles with Asurion extended warranty they couldn't get the parts or something so they sent my money back never again dealership only and a lot of investigation before I buy another and cadet ain't on the list also craftsman anything with a brigg engine bought enough of the to start selling parts
Just curious why you recommend the Kawasaki engine over Briggs??? Just thinking it may be personal preference...but still want to get the best deal for the money!!!

I have about 3 acres of flat grass to mow. Just bought the house. Decodont between the Toro Timecutter myride 60" and the Bad Boy ZT Elite 60" or Maverick 60". Hard choice. Bad boy definitely seems better to me, but its also a good bit more $. Any thoughts? Kawasaki engine either way.
This was very helpful. I tried the elite the other day but thought it was more than I needed. Now thinking for the difference it may be worth it and money well spend.

Get a Spartan, the two brothers that made bad boy one bolt the other one out and the other one started Spartan mowers way more badass and just there's no comparison bad boy is a joke like a 10 year old or maybe a old person who's never had a zero turn would be good for a bad boy cuz it only go six maybe seven miles an hour tops Spartan mowers they're smallest plain Jane $3,500 mower goes 9 mph !!! LOL
@@Jimbobd421 Spartan 54" way better mowers not a comparison and the guy who made Spartan mowers made bad boy mowers with his brother but the brother bought him out I have a Spartan rz54-in I just got 2 months ago and I literally can cut a yard with one hand and never have to use other hand best mower I've ever owned and I've owned about 16 z turns it's for sale as well along with my Scag cheetah 61"! and my Husqvarna 42 in " upgrading to bigger Spartan mower and a 42" Spartan mower
@@johnleon2594 don't waste your money go to a Spartan dealership and you will never regret it best mowers in the industry right now hands down all commercial grade parts and they're all residential prices they're smallest $3,500 plain Jane 42 inch has the same seven gauge steel deck is my 15,000 Scag cheetah lol

i noticed that there is no way to attach a trailer to these mowers, is that somehting you can add? Also I was liking the cub cadet because you can get a snow plow on them. but the cub cadets reviews are awful. I would want the elite cause the trans should be able to handle these tasks. I have an acre flat land but it gets good and soggy when it rains so I need one thatll have a better time in mud too.
also would the avenger be ok with these tasks or is the elite guna be a must have for that?
Is there much different from last years and this years 2021 zt Elite?
The main things are the suspension, the new seat, and the added compartment. Other than that not much other than asthetic changes. That suspension is going to make a big difference from last year for many people.
How do these bad boy machines compare to JD in build quality? I've been shopping around looking for entry level commercial.
I've seen a lot of John Deere mowers come through our shop, we've even sold quite a few in just the past year alone. The John deere mowers have a great quality build, construction and features when you jump into the high end commercial. However they are WAY EXPENSIVE and not worth the cost in my opinion. You can find many other mowers with just as great than specs for less money. The entry level mowers I would say also have a good quality deck, engine and drive system. However the rest.... ehh 👎. It's made sturdy but they just don't give you a lot of the awesome features that come standard on the Maverick or ZT Elite or any of the bad boy professional line up as well. I'm talking about the rubber Mats, compartment space, easy access, deck isolators, suspension, premium seat... these are all things you'll find on the bad boy mowers you're comparing them too. John deere is sturdy, and is gonna last you, but so are the bad boy mowers. Thank you for your comment 🙏
I know you mentioned the price point for the zt elite with the Kawasaki. This year bad boy added front independent suspension. Did this affect the price? I’m not able to find the same model for the price you mentioned.

Yes
We have both the Avenger and the Elite. If I can get to one before the other. I will jump on the Elite. Why, adjustable seat, a little better ride and armrests. They both cut very well.
The only complaint I have about the Elite. The seat will fall forward into the foot pedal for the deck and scratch and bang up the armrest . We actually added a small 3mm braded stainless cable so the seat will not fall all the way forward. Its also can be used to pull the seat aback towards the down position.
That would be a nice improvement on mower.

Bad boy Magnum 54inch for $4000 or 54inch Toro with MyRide for $4600?
Basically, Bad Boy added a new model “ The Avenger “ and then did a name shift for the existing models. My 2020 ZT Elite is the same as the 2021 Avenger . The new ZT Elite is basically the old Maverick without the ROPS and large tires. I paid good money for my Elite , could have gotten the Avenger for less . So disappointed in this Marketing strategy.
JMC i could be wrong, but your ZT elite probably has better transaxles and a better engine than the new ZT avenger.

Don’t buy the cheap one, go with the ZT Elite trust me. I got the magnum and 1 acre and it rides so rough and doesn’t stripe good at all. The pulleys don’t pull enough there for blade speed is a major issue!
Bad Girl has a crappy warranty.
Just face it they're getting overpriced. If they don't have a 3100 at least Hydro there's no point in even putting it out there on the market. Most people use the 48 or 52. There is not too many people that use a 60 in in my area unless it's a city cutting parks. So most people use like a 36.
