1:50 Pyroshark with the Gas Passer vs. Jarate+Bushwacka Sniper was the most vs. thing I’ve seen ever since Raiden vs Jetstream Sam.
what i truly love about this is that it isnt a direct copy to jarate and wacka nor does it compete with axtinguisher combo, and just generally feels in place with the other weapons
It's a good ambush combo, where you come in unexpectedly while flanking an enemy or a group of enemies.
the jarate + bushwacka has nothing on this. come on it LINGERS

Yeah except it's a lot less spammable with it not returning on spawn or resupply. If it was as spammabl3 as jarate maybe I'd be worried. But really the kinds of pyro who would use it best. Would also probably wreck me with a flare punch sooo.
Pyro is designed to be good at close range.

My headcanon is that the contractor want to make balance changes but for whatever reason valve wont let them
So they have to disguise any balance changes as bug fixes
Reminds me of the time someone wanted to make some kinda ender pearl farm in Minecraft, but they couldn’t deal damage with splash water bottles. so they reported it as a bug and waited to make it next update/snapshot.
This is based on “dude trust me” but I’m pretty sure it happened or isn’t far off.

i find it hilarious that the only reason we know this is an actual buff is because it was phrased as a bug fix
They should add a reskin on the Gas Passer that's just for Medieval Mode that is a bucket of oil and instead of a gas meter it's an oil meter. Which would offer more variability than just the back scratcher.

So don't you just mean that the gas passer should be added to the medieval mode white-list? Why add a whole reskin and only allow the reskin if allowing the original is easier? And scout has thr mad milk for medieval mode so I don't see why thr gas passer should be any different.

It even works after players leave the water as they are still wet for about 5 seconds.
This combo is the most fun I have had on Pyro in awhile. Glad it's a thing
this is the first balance change i've ever experienced, i started playing in 2018.
Imagine all of the patch notes just start saying things like
“Fixed a bug in which the Mark-For-Death penalty on the Bushwacka was only 20% damage vulnerability”
As someone who’s spent their fare share of 2Fort Pyrosharking, most water is good enough to count someone as “wet,” even the basic puddles of Doublecross count.
I personally call this playstyle "the petroleum patroller"

When I was screwing with this, I called it the "Dryro shark" because it's a pyro shark.. out of the water. (But mostly because it makes people sigh aggressively, and it's very funny.)

I personally use the Dragon's Fury with this combo as it actually compliments the combo well.
DF has high DPS and can recharge the Gas Passer quickly
The Gas Passer provides Wet conditions for NA and fire for the DF
You can 1shot Medics while they are wet with the NA and 2shot soldiers even after they are on fire (though the splash from their own rockets can easily kill them), which also charges the gas passer
If by chance the opponent gets wet naturally to make it harder to DF them, you can NA them instead
DF also has decent range that can cover the lack of range the GP and NA have
Yea its good synergy for other reasons too. The df has very weak after burn. The gas fixes that so you do more damage from after burn and it makes follow up df shots more forgiving from a timer perspective. Also helpful by keeping pyros lit. The dfs airblast penalty also encourages mellee usage when you dont have a secondary compared to other flame throwers this makes the NA more useful than otherwise. I mean still not the most powerful loadout for pyro or even for the DF but by far the best GP loadout.
tf2 is the only community that calls an update huge when a single minute change is made to balancing. I kind of like it.

This is not a buff, it is a bug fix. They intended this to work this way and it never did.

If you’re covered in gas, the rocket jumper still triggers it because technically it’s doing damage, just at the level of zero!

i have found that Gassing, then using the Neon, and then firing a Dragons Fury shot is kinda OP. it deals 250 damage!
Yea Dragons fury was already by far the best weapon to use with the gas. Still not a great combo but better than any other flame thrower due to giving you the longer after burn that is missing on the df combined with the higher damage on the df for faster recharges.

@@enn1924 This would be ok. But I think I would prefer they let pyros airblast away all status effects like bleed, mad milk and jarate. Then make the jarate have the same recharge mechanic as the gas passer but make both have less harsh damage requriments.

@@nataliaborys1554 Its not so much about the realism but about balance and fun mechanics. Bleed needs a nerf. Wrap assasin is almost a must pick on scout which is sad given his other fun unlocks. Cleaver isn't as bad but is somewhat overtuned. Most people also don't find the mechanic that fun either to be against or to use. People like the bleed weapons mechanically but not the status effect. Being on fire is a more interesting status effect because of the counter play involved in removing the effect.
Pyro is also generally under powered above v ery low skill floors. Giving them another way to be useful and another way to boost there health would be helpful without contributing to wm1.
I’ve been advocating for landshark for a while. Nice to see we have evolved.

I even came up with a plot for this update: MannCo was dumping oil into the water, which ruined the ecology and forced pyrosharks to mutate. Now their mutant metabolism allows them to process oil & gas to fill up gas cans.

7:49 Neon gets crits if someone is standing in water, even if the water is only 1 hammer unit deep
Honestly good with the backburner. Crits massively benefit the passer recharge, but phlog has no airblast so you need to have a way to back off.
I imagine the Huo Long heater and Sun on a Stick can clean up whatever you can’t.
