While I didn't originally make this video with any sort of specific goal other than showing what was in it and how it might work, it makes me happy to know that people have used it to fix their units!
Thank you for this. Your video is very useful for the DIY rebuilding this type of double drawer dishwasher. I have Kitchenaid KUDD01DPPA0 which is somewhat similar in design (they share many parts) but it looks to me the Fisher & Paykel is way more advanced.
The SPRING can break which holds the draw closed then the draw won't work but it is pretty cheap to replace the springs. If your draw isn't draining watch the video's on how to clear the pump.
I consider to replace our 5-year-old single draw F & P machine due to leakage when the cycle reaches the drying step. Condensed steam condensate at the outlet and drip down on to the floor. Our machine also is equipped with a water softener unit but your video does unfortunately not have this package. During the washing cycle there is no dripping on the floor. First when the drying step starts there is a condensation. I have understood that the drying mechanism does not have any heating element but just a fan. For washing water not to be led through the drying hoses there must be a valve, which is closed during washing and opened when drying. For an effective drying to happen, there must be an inlet somewhere, which also have to be equipped with a valve like the exhaust valve. I have not found out how this is working. Anyhow, your effort to share how the F & P dishwasher is working, has been very useful to me and I send you all my appreciations here from Denmark.
at 14mins 10 seconds, i'm trying to fix an issue where I have water pooling in the clear underside tray. The motor assembly gasket isn't sitting right, so i'm assuming the leak is from there. Trying figure out how I can replace this gasket. Do you know if the assembly just pops up from the inside or would I have to get underneath and release something in order for it to pop up. Cheers!
On this model the fuse is part of the heater plate. You have to replace the whole plate to make it work again. Same thing happened to mine, I ended up buying an old dishwasher for $100 and swapped the top drawer using this video as a guide. Cheaper than paying someone to replace the heater plate with a new one.
At 9 minute in your video, you pulled out a pump assembly, what is that pump for please. I have a machine that the top drawer will not drain, but if outlet hose is lowered, it will run out. I'm trying to find a solution to my problem. I thought that centre pump was the only pump the washer had. Cheers Denise
That's the air pump that inflates the lid seal. Also attached is the exhaust valve that releases the air from the lid seal when the wash cycle is stopped.
@@souldevelopment966 you can find the installation manual online. Have a look at the height of the drain hose. There is a minimum and maximum height, if you go over the maximum it will struggle to pump. If this is ok, the motor is most likely worn out. Bear in mind this generation is the first F&P DishDrawer. It was released in NZ in 1997, AU in 1998 and USA was either 1998 or 1999. Either way, it's a 21 year old machine at best.
The model is on a label in the bottom left hand corner of the top drawer on the chassis. It will be either DD601, DD601V2, DD602, DS601, DS601V2 or DS602
I would like to add here. There are 3d printed motors being sold on Ebay, total scam. Watch for those that have larger than original impeller blades. The motors are marketed as "used" justifying a low price but they are actually 3d printed, with no scuffs whatsover but the impeller area to sit in pool of water is not re-created like the original rendering them totally useless. The design does not allow for forceful sideways into the drain expulsion of the water. wASTE OF MONEY AND SCAMMERS RUNNING FREE
Hey I have this exact model when I pull the top drawer out it beeps wildly instead of one beep when you open it as if there's a wire inside that when the drawer extends is frayed or something does it seem like there's a wiring harness that could be changed easily? it only happens when the door is being opened.
One of the best videos I've seen. We can actually see all the parts and learn more by seeing.
You just saved me man, I’m using your vid for seal guiding and diagnostics! Thanks for helping me and my mum out!
Fantastic teardown. Very thorough. Really enjoyed. Thanks.
Thank you. I bought a spares dish drawer as the top drawer on mine had multiple faults and was able to do a transplant with the aid of your video.

Around Melbourne does anyone know where to get parts, such as the lid exhaust valve, shown at 8:30 of this video ?
This model is beyond obsolete and parts are no longer available

Did I somehow miss the removal of the water inlet valve?!? The one thing I need to see...
where is the fuse located' ,y dish doesn't power at all the inlet is on

Watching this from Mosgiel where this was made.

@@matyt94 thanks I will have to keep looking.

That's my aunties dish drawer there
THANK YOU FIXED MY TOP DRAWER. WORK ON BOTTOM LATER.

Controller in the door is faulty, usually moisture or cockies
@@samuelthompson4922 thanks the dishwasher has been replaced with a new single drop down door. We already miss the double drawer. 🙄
thanks!
This machine is completely obsolete. It’s a version one 😂
What's your point? Are you obsolete?
Anyone can disassemble something but it takes real skills to repair it properly. You are a butcher.
