Your attention to details, even those which may never be seen, is impressive! I am also in 'O' scale, 2 rail and have been in it for 40 years. Nice video, thanks for sharing. I'll be looking for more from you.
Well taverns wasn’t the cleanest business back in the days, the spittoons was mostly used as a bathroom. There are few bars that still have it ( not in use) and the pipe, most people think it is a foot rest, was to flush it. Old building history is absolutely beautiful.
@@Rheasound Thank you for the history lesson! I went to a old bar on some back Street in Pittsburgh that the Elbow Room reminded me called "Barneys." Eight stools and a urnal hidden away in the back.
@@swampyankee72 howdy! Between Pittsburg and Harrisburg there is a small town named Hollidaysburg there you can find the US Hotel, if you have time visit it, the bar still has the original spittoons.
Wow, just amazing! I’m 58 years old now and as a boy we lived in Dunsmuir, CA for 4 years and the downtown area next to the SP yard is all classic America style buildings from the 20’s-40’s, I remember one building next to the tracks that was an old movie theater but they modified the front section into a record shop and the rear area had an apartment but the roof and floor in between was removed and there was a small stream running diagonally through what would be the seating area. As a 8 year old kid it was like a hidden forest since they had a couple small trees and manzanita shrubs around the stream and it was all kind of magical to me. Not much has changed since 1973 which is nice to me, even the old house we lived in next to the Travelodge is still there, those were tough times until we moved north into Klamath Falls since dad worked for SP. Those interiors in your buildings are perfect. Back in the 70’s most shops recycled older signs and displays so if you choose to do some bashing, you can use any old sign and put a new name on it but people will immediately recognize the shape and profile of the sign which is what I remember. Things were VeRY tight back in those days, as a white kid, I know what it’s like to have NOTHING in the kitchen to eat so I wish I had some of that white privilege people talk about these days, without the school lunch program things would’ve been worse, lol.
Beautiful Norm! Your work with the 3D printer is amazing and your ability to blend all of the different elements of the model together to create the look you are after is the work of an artist. Bill B.
I'm absolutely blown away by the seemingly endless range of your talents and skills Norm. Since your town seems to be circa 1940's-1950's, have you ever thought about bringing to life some Norman Rockwell paintings as little vignettes throughout your neighborhood? I think they would absolutely fit in with your style of workmanship. Be well.
Very well done Norm... as usual!👍😄 Any plans for a few vehicles? I like it the way it is as everything is in full view. I dunno.. maybe some kids riding bikes, skateboards, soap box. Looks awsome the way you have it. I enjoy and love what you've done...if I could be so bold to say.. to me the streets seem a little bare.. what are your thoughts or do have more plans? Of course if this was my layout I would be extremely happy the way it is.👍😁 Thanks for sharing.😃
Very nice. I like the classic, old neighborhood look, When I saw the warehouse building, I immediately thought of the Great Lakes Storage building in Toledo. I went by it a lot when I was younger, while rail fanning around CUT and also every day that I worked when I joined the railroad, starting with Conrail. I retired last April after a nice career and now I can start building my new layout. An excellent video, as always.
I'm always inspired by your custom buildings and interiors. How did you make the Mercer Ave Cafe sign next door? To me the backlighting on that suggests neon which is hard to do in O-scale. If I was the proprietor of the Elbow Room I'd get a lighted sign up there. Great Job!
I have a couple of River Leaf Model kits, Texas Tavern and Spiders night club. Ended up placing an interior in the Texas Tavern due to all the windows. Taking photos I found of the interior, I duplicated it as close as I could. The Elbow Room turned out great Norm. Thanks for showing how you did it
Nice work Norm!! 3D printing has elevated modeling to the next degree!! Have you ever done any videos on M.O.W. equipment, that would be cool to see in that era you model!!!
Another great job Norm. You are an inspiration to me for my layout, was wondering if you could ever talk about the cars and trucks that I see on your layout. How do weather them and where do you find them?
I wish I had the skill and equipment to do the 3D printing. I jumped into laser cutting in 2002 and not sure I want to learn another skill. Interior has a great mood, like a painting. Thanks
I'm glad that you filmed some of the 3D modeling process. I couldn't help wondering about the base printer's plate when you remove the finished print. I've read about plates becoming damaged. Is that damage because the print sticks too hard to the plate? It appeared that the removal process was a bit difficult. Just curious.
My platen has been fairly robust so far. I've pretty much trashed the plastic scraper they give you. Some minor scuffs on the platen but I hope to get many more prints out of it. I did change out my FEP recently.
Great Job Norm! I have learned a lot from watching your videos. Some examples include, Sunset Models and their, 3D Printing, and the many technicalities of TMCC. Cheers!🍻 (P.S, What is the Engine sound board that is in your 3rd Rail PRR I1 with the long haul tender)
I really love your weathering but I am wondering why you placed the goose-light over the front door and not over the front elbow sign so it shows up at night with it doesn't now???
Thanks - no real brand preference on the printers. I am pretty happy with I’m running though - the Elegoo Mars 3 Pro you may have seen in the vid and a Creality Ender for my FDM prints.
Great job! But i must say the logo is front seems does not fit the era and the hanging sing was more fitting for the building. Impressive details and awesome creativity!
Another homerun of a project, Norm. The faded Yuengling art is perfection.
Your attention to details, even those which may never be seen, is impressive!

This channel has become one of my favorite scale. Model channels on RUclips. Please keep them coming.
No public bathrooms could be an issue in a bar room 🙂 The 3-d printer has really been a game changer in the scale modeling world.

That’s truly amazing as if one could shrink down and actually live in this town. The realism is superb

I have a soap box vs. skateboard race just out of view of this scene.
One bad man with the printer! Love watching the detail you put into your models very awesome!

@@OasisPalms that was a resin print. I tried to get an art deco look to it. It’s lit by leds. It’s in the vid!
good job! Just a nice city atmosphere from times gone by😊
Wow, what great detail and awesome scenes ! Great craftsmanship I enjoyed the video thanks for posting !

I really like it. Don’t know that anyone would notice the interior. But you have fun with it that’s all that matters. I really enjoyed this video.
Another exceptional build.

Awesome work man, the detail you put in is impressive! Great content keep it up 👍
This build truly rocks. I can only hope that my builds get this good. Keep up the great work and thank you for sharing.
Love your detail work and glimpse of how 3D printing works. But, where are the "brown" beer bottles?
Yuengling and Rolling Rocks only!
Norm great job as always. I know it takes time to learn how to use the 3d printer. But it would be great to show us how you use it.
At 16:18 you have an Edward Hopper vibe. Beautiful, good light.
Wow great job, your channel is so underrated Norm!
Awesome detail bld 👍 in my town there was a bar for years named the elbow room 🥃lol cool addition great detail great work
Dude! That layout is amazing!
Aw thanks man!
Really enjoy watching your videos…👍🏼
Really nicely done as always Norm.
AWESOME! Please do more building interiors. This was just as fun as Bessimer video.

to see in that era you model!!!
Thanks for being an inspiration Norm!!
The master at work---just fantastic stuff---
Looks like guys at the bar are sharing there best drunken shaggy dog stories.
Another great job Norm. You are an inspiration to me for my layout, was wondering if you could ever talk about the cars and trucks that I see on your layout. How do weather them and where do you find them?

Straight out of the park, Norm.
The re-worked kickback turned out great Norm! You're really doing some nice stuff with your 3D printing. Can we get a utility pole tutorial?
I hope to do one soon as I need to make a few new ones for the rearranged street scenes.
I'll be front and center@@normstrains
I would look interesting if you replaced Bingos with a building that fits the foot print of that entire lot.
That’s the tentative plan. I’m thinking it might have a slightly lower roofline too.
Norm, The Elbow Room should have a blinking sign for at night, no?
I didn't want it too fancy. I felt the light over the door was more important to keep the drunks safe. 🙂
@@normstrains 🤣🤣🤣🤣 You rock, Bro!!!
Mr. Rogers house needs to be on this layout!
Magnificent! When will you convert the Ho scale Faller car system to O scale in order to have running automobiles? LOL
That would be cool! Wish I laid the town out a bit differently..

Thanks - that was the old PRR H9 #1111 sound ROM. Good luck trying to find one now that Lionel obsoleted all their TMCC parts though! 😢
We have a bar called the Elbow room in my home town.
that is beautiful.
Why is your ballast black?? Cause I’ve never seen that on the pensy but awesome project
Lots of cindered ROWs especially in the later years of the steam to diesel transition era.
Oh ok thanks
Do you have any tips for our layout
I really love your weathering but I am wondering why you placed the goose-light over the front door and not over the front elbow sign so it shows up at night with it doesn't now???
AWESOME, very nice.
should also have roof access.
Really cool.
Amazing!

The way you integrated the Yuengling beer sign on the stucco is outstanding. Beautiful work. By the way, did you mean "Scale City Designs"?
Yes!
I used to live in Green Brook ... New Jersey
Marvellous
Great job! But i must say the logo is front seems does not fit the era and the hanging sing was more fitting for the building. Impressive details and awesome creativity!
The hanging sign was in the way of the light I needed. The new sign has a bit of Art Deco styling to it, which is something I’d like to try more of.
Why did you shorten the interior?
you always need a spot for the W.C. stairs , storage.
Bathroom/kitchen/backroom, etc., plus a space to host my wiring mess.
Do you recommend a certain brand/model 3D printer? Go yuengling 🍺 🍻
Add lights above the Elbow Room sign
Nah
Too bad it's all so depressing to look at...
