    A great product Luke.
    I’ve had mine now for about 6 months and glad I did my research. I pondered over a few brands of wing awnings with and without the poles but just wasn’t happy with the build quality (my opinion). Then I found a great review from Pete at WA Camping Adventures, and decided to give it a try.
    I opted for the new style awning with the valance and bought it as the kit with pegs, ropes and led light. It fitted easily to my Rhino pioneer rack with the custom brackets Drifta supplied.
    I’ve used the awning multiple times and been caught in some very windy conditions (WA) in Exmouth, Sandy Cape and Wilbinga and so far never had a problem. I did have the better half assist once in very strong winds, just to keep it taught while packing up. We also had a very strong wind storm one night, but with the supplied sand pegs and guide ropes it didn’t move at all.
    I love the idea of the adjustable integrated poles and overall quality of build. It’s certainly not the cheapest awning on the market but cheap isn’t good and good isn’t cheap...

    Good video. Now its more clear for me what is the idea behind this setup. First impression was: too complicated. But I understand weight is an issue and being able to lower the awning is good when having wind or rain. Thanks for this video !

    In windy conditions I pin down each pole as I unfold the awning rather than pin them all at the end, and I would unpin each pole as I fold it up rather than unpin them all then fold it all up, if the poles need repositioning u can do that after but at least all the poles will be secure while you so.

    It seems most of the awning products are made for Toyota’s, Jeeps and alike.

      BruceSchultzAu it’s been said that, but i dont’ think so.. fire on the ground, where does it drawer air from ? From the sides, and drawers quiet well.. also any holes lower down, will just get clogged very quickly with ash, so no air will come thru anyway.. : ) L

      As Einstein said " man should look at what is , not what he thinks should be,,'
      A Fire Pit should burn better than a fire in the ground as it breathes better. You shouldn't even try a comparison.

    Nice set up but the only BIG Mistake in the Prado is lack of an interior sleeping place without a tent. The prado is big enough to set up a narrow place for sleeping inside-now that you have an awning, drawers, water, fuel and even a fridge.Where u gonna sleep? and please dont tell me a rooftop tent.Must sleep inside away from rain, wild animals and THUGS

    looks like it would be a pain in the ass in the wind. also unimprovable is a stupid claim, take the 30 second awning for example, 30 seconds for a fully free standing lunch time shade but it also has peg down hinged legs for windy conditions, also being free standing a sudden gust of wind wont throw it over the roof during setup making it super easy to set up solo,

    Hi Luke, I appreciate the points that you raise here, but to say something is "un-improvable" is a lie... human civilisation wouldn't be where it is now if people looked at something and said "that'll do".
    For instance... I am in the market at the moment and found myself comparing your Rapid wing to the Darche 270 awning.
    I like the rapid wing's tailgate flap, and putting up poles doesn't bother me, but the rapid wing lacks the sheer size that the Darche offers, as it has a second hinge which opens up the front and over the window.
    Now... if you made an 'improved' rapid wing with a front opening hinge and a larger flap to cover the windshield better than the Darche ,I'd be all over it :D

    • @driftacampingand4wd611
      @driftacampingand4wd611 5 лет назад

      Saxton Hale well the snow peak firepit is ‘unimproveable’ , in its design. u can’t compare the rapid wing to the imported copies, as the material is half the weight/ thickness, and poles half the strength etc, so if the rapid wing is bigger the bag is getting too bulky wen packed up. but pretty sure superpeg did make one like this, they even sent to me i just haven’t had a chance to look at it. L
