I have been running supapeg awnings on my 4wd and they made me a custom awning with side walls , zips, windows for my camper trailer. 4 years on, still have no issues what’s so ever after, rain, wind , salt and massive 100mm down pours. You will have this for ever. With the cost, worth it..... the like of Drifts, Patriot and Lifestyle campers use Supapeg. All Australian made companies. Good by good vid...

👍👍Yep have had two Supapeg awnings on the Suzuki GV. First one a Stand Ezy ERV 2x2.5m (5yrs and still in as-new nick after alot of use). Most recently have got the RapidWing4 which wraps around, covering the boot/rear of the 4by, awesome!!! 🙌 Great to see some Qldr gear making it to WA. PS the zip-on walls (have 2 of them) are fantastic for the extra protection they provide too😊

Your passion should never become a chore. Anyways, finally ordered my awning this afternoon and it’s thanks to him that I went a SupaPeg awning.

@10:00 I did something very similar to my ARB 2500 Touring awning to keep the water from pooling in the center. I just purchased a bunch of extra poles to have on hand and modified one to have the spear tip on both ends. Then drilled appropriate sized holes in the awning frame both on the mounted side and the standing side where I just slip the spear tip in and tighten the pole up. To add to this, I slip a foot long piece of thick pool noodle over that center pole and it pushes the awning fabric upwards slightly to keep it taught and pool free. Works like charm in heavy rain.

    Great choice of awning
I have 3 superpeg awnings and you will not be disappointed
    All Aussie made
All parts if they ever fail are replaceable and would only be an issue if awning is not treated with care and set up with posts pegged to ground and on my awnings they can unless really bad weather be secured by the foot being pegged only so far without any issues
I have also supercenter awnings and yes there cheap but not in the same class as superpeg gear
You will have a lot of years out of the awning for sure

I had a Subaru Outback AWD with a 3mx2.5m awning on it. With a 50mm lift kit, roof rack and steel basket, the awning mounted on top, there was enough room to walk under the awning without cracking my head. The Subi could get in to most places any 'propper' 4wd could go and was excellent on the beach. It only weighed 1800kg with a load so floated over the sand, run rings around all your heavy tanks with all the fancy gear. Didnt need traks cos it didnt get bogged so badly.

    • @AADCOA
      @AADCOA 4 года назад +1

They always pick on the Subie's until that awkward moment when they're buried up to their door handles in a bog and the Subie's just sail on past.
They go mighty quiet when that happens. :P

Made in Brisbane ,cost $1100 back then and has outlasted many of my friends awnings by yrs. Look am up,you won't be disappointed.

Love the Awning the 1 really important piece of information missing is the weight I know a lot of people out there either have no clue or just don't care about weight well that is until they get caught for being over weight of haven accident for which over weight is attributed to the accident & they loose their insurance, me I'm paranoid about my weight i've been weighed several times in NSW & twice in Vic all by the roads authorities

Love your content, subscribed last week and had a binge on your videos [ totally awesome ] . I have had one of these awnings for over a year and they are amazing but they do have a issue that you did adress, if you do not peg down the legs straight away and the wind picks up, especially by yourself the awning will flip over on itself and snap the black plastic support brackets that fit into the poles supported from the vehicle. order yourself a few spares ;) . Apart from that awesome bit of kit and thanks for your videos.

    Hi Michael,
Very timely demonstration/introduction of this awning for me.
I have a 1996 Subaru Outback wagon that I used for my 2018 Ghan Sojourn (Coffs Harbour to Darwin via the Ghan, then back down through Adelaide, VIC Silo Art Trail, NSW Riverina, Sydney & home. 2 3/4 months 11,600 kms of which over 600 was corrugated dirt. So if I am able to 'twist their arm' I'm hoping for a 1700 or 1800 cm version for the left side, where the 'fridge is (rear left passenger seat folded down). Then same side in the back two 'Coles' flat-pack black crates with cooking/dried food etcs. Right side is made-up bed. Rear luggae area has a homemade cover consisting of two angle alum rails stretching a black anti-skid holey matt. The fold-up table lives on top of that. Other rails underside of inner roof lining hold the rolled up mozzie magnetic curtain (sticks over left door window areas using rare earth magnet corners & double-width 'fridge magnet' strips. The other side hold a chair & tripod. 20 L water jerrycan left inside corner, empty 20L petrol jerrycan R corner. When holding petrol it lives in a HD garden black plastic bag with plastic tie to make it airtight. Just in case it fumes a bit. Last year it had petrol from just before Woomera all the way to Wilpena Pound, via William Creek (Oodnadatta track). No fumes.
I may however just go for a standard Left side awning 2x2 if possible. The fuel filler is on the right side so this would be best. I need to sort out with them how to mount this to the standard Subaru rail, or go to a flat roofrack. As I'm also looking at your demonstrated 100W solar panel, with a 75 Ahr deep cycle, dc dc charger etc, the flat roofrack could help. But I'd want it easily removeable for car cleaning etc.
Michael I really enjoy and appreciate your various videos. Taking me places I can no longer go, as well as almost-forgotten places I've travelled in another life. Sigh

Leaks in the corner where it opens . Also with mine you can’t put walls on it. Get the one from Drifta Products. Also would be good to have a cam lock on the pole so that you can adjust the height without having to pull the pegs out to drop it. Also I have the 270 degree.

It's exactly the same as the Drifta, Supa peg make them for Drifta.
Sadly mine also leaks in the corners and I keep breaking the plastic buckles on the guy rops. However, it's still the best awning on the market.

    Awesome review!
We have a 270 awning (as we have wagon) and it withstood gale force winds on Fraser a couple of weeks ago. Double pegged as you showed in the sand, dropped the legs a bit and it was rock solid. We have only had it for a month and used it a couple of times but absolutely love it so far 👍🏻

You forgot. All Australian made. Made in QLD and uses Aussie canvas. I'd say that is a pretty big plus. I'm trying to figure which of Supa-Rv (Supa-peg) products to get. They have a few shapes and sizes. Decisions....

Have you got any thoughts on the oztrail foxwing? I was thinking of a 270 with a couple of sides would keep you dry even in a cyclone lol. I love the ridge beam idea to stop the water pooling on this one. Another great review 👍🏼

SupaPeg have a 270 wing as well. I've got one and love it. Would recommend you look into that over the foxwing.

Thomas Davenport supapeg is also Australian made so we should be trying to support Aussie manufacturing. I wonder how many people complain about the lack of Aussie manufacturing while they drive around with their cheap Chinese kings awning on the side of their car.

Thanks for the great review. Where is the place you went to for the overnighter? Looks great. I’m in Perth too!

Thank you for this informative video. How high should the awning be to clear the canopy door? Can you use the curved cross bar when the canopy door is open?

Nice mate. The two triangular ends seem to almost be useless for a lot of applications but its good if it works for you. Not sure if I missed it but probably a good idea to mention if you paid for products or if they were sent to you
