There are many AAs that have held on to the cultures, practices and traditions (gullah/geechees and creoles etc). I do understand what she was saying about us AAs not having the connection to their own African culture, (to no fault of our own of course) but the culture that we've created and that is mimicked and inspired around the world, is our culture.

Anyone is able to apply for South African citizenship providing that the person/s comply with the measures. South Africa can't just "accept you back" cause somewhere in your history someone was an African. It is the same across the world. You can still, however, apply for citizenship, and live in South Africa, without citizenship. I can't understand why it's a problem for people if the stores close earlier. You must remember we have workers who have to fund their way home after work. Also it's good because family time is more important than convenience.

It’s a problem for Americans bc it’s not what we’re used to. We’re used to stores closing at 10 pm or later or being open 24/7…so we don’t have to worry about what time we get off work to grocery shop…in America, most jobs don’t care about your work/life balance… they care about their bottom line $$$

I disagree, Black Americans have a culture. The problem is it is deeply ingrained in the overall American culture so it feels like we dont at times. We creates genres of music without the aid of African drums (like Jazz, Blues, etc.). Also, our culture has Native American influence, hence cornbread and grits being included in Black American cuisine (i.e. Soul Food). We have our own language (known as Tut/Tutnese). Even activities like Double Dutch among the young girls are unique staples in our community that you dont see anywhere else.
