I know you aren't saying they would win, but the new rules would make it easier for the old guard. Absolutely no way to guard guys like Robinson, Ewing, Malone, Barkley, MJ... They would get to the rim any time they wanted to. MJ and Pip would still be able to defend on the wing, and prevent them from getting past half court. Robinson and Ewing would still be better rim protectors than any of the new guys. Under the old rules it would be kinda close, lots of talent all around. Under the new rules, those old guys would feel like they were playing with no resistance, they would run away with it.

I've never watched the 90's or the 80's but its bloody common sense. The rules it those days made the game hard as fuck. Theres no way in the word durant, lebron or carmelo are just gonna drive the ball into the paint without getting checked if they played but their predecessors rules.
If its the rules the NBA uses in the modern age, then yeah maybe they have a chance. But then again with these rules, Jordan in his prime would getting up to 50 a game with ease.
