    Having been blessed to have survived direct hit by hurricane Andrew I have developed a tolerance to these inconveniences. I lived in a totally devastated neighborhood in a 21’ RV while we rebuild.

      Hi Mark- We are glad you were able to rebuild and we are so impressed with those that could. We would still say this RV park was a disaster even if the hurricane didn’t hit it. I have also been through some horrific power issues in parks that forced me to learn about power fast. My best advice for you and that rig, and everyone else for that matter is to look into the Hughs Autoformer. 30 or 50 amp. It works hand in hand with the Watchdog surge protectors.
    What most don’t know is the watchdog protects you from high spikes only. If you have the one with the white light it will shut off if power drops but not protect from low voltage problems. The Autoformer protects you from this and boosts the voltage to protect your electronics which is way more extensive than I ever imagined in these new rigs. It is a small but very worthy investment. Now that I bam aware and check the different parks I visit I am amazed at the different power issues many have.
    Check it out. You won’t be sorry.

    • @ChasingOurSunshine
      @ChasingOurSunshine  Год назад +2

    Oh my! Sorry you guys had that experience! Looks like you were so close you could share more than space! That would make me claustrophobic I think! We were that close at a campground once and I felt like I had to whisper so they couldn't hear my conversation. Ick! LOVE the rating system! I will be keeping track for sure. I think you could go back and rate some of your past campgrounds. Jamaica Beach in TX is one I'm interested in.

      We would rate Jamaica Beach RV Park at :
      RV Site: 6
      Value: 8
      Cleanliness: 8
      Amenities: 10
      Staff: 10
      Dog friendliness: 9
      Location: 6
      Things to do: 8
      Cellphone reception: 8
      Big rig friendly: 7

    I just stayed there for 2 weeks and was glad that they opened more sites early. You seem unreasonable wanting a premium perfect condition site after one of the largest hurricanes hit this area. So what fully repaired RV parks in the area is taking reservations? None! I called all of them along 41 to Naples. Most people are thankful and understand the situation. What a crappy way to rate a park under the situation.

    • @ChasingOurSunshine
      @ChasingOurSunshine  Год назад +1

      Sorry- just the opposite of what you are saying- The rating was based on as if the hurricane never hit them. We didn’t expect perfection. We can say the park had issues before the hurricane and still will have the same issues after they are done with the repairs- Too tight of roads and sites. The only thing the place has going for them is the locations and friendly staff. We are happy we got to stay there and explore the area and could support the locals. Thanks Joel, Deb & 🐕 Maya

    I really think that campground should have been better evaluated by the company and management about reopening that soon. Fort Myers was hit extremely hard during the hurricane Ian. I couldn't have dealt with all that construction. I know my 2 dogs wouldn't have dealt with the noise. And that's way to close for me. Cloverleaf RV Resort that's a Encore campground is the same closeness as this one is. Stay away from that one. Plus there was a mean lady who wouldn't let people use the washers she yelled at me. Lol 🤣. TTO is so much our favorite campground. We absolutely love that new section. Dang I wish that I didn't have doctors appointments and had to leave Florida early. It's cold here in Indiana. Lol 🤣

      We have been disappointed in the Encore parks in Florida and they cram everyone in they can. Maya did do a good job protecting us from all the weird construction noise. She saved us from a skid-steer loader, a few work trucks, and garbage bag blowing by to name a few! 😂 We made the best of it and glad we could enjoy the area. Sorry you had to go back to Indiana for doctors appointments as it’s cold there. Stay warm! Thanks- Joel, Deb & 🐕 Maya

    I'm very surprised that they open the park in that condition. As you know, we live in a sue happy nation, With all those wires, pipes, and construction material laying around, that would be a sue happy persons dream, Not to mention possible damage to someone rig from debris and equipment moving around. I could see some idiot hurting themselves just for the money. Wow, what a crazy experience. Never seen anything like this and they most certainly shouldn’t have all that exposed wire all over the place and that unstable power is just nuts. Opposing sites are sometimes difficult to navigate as you share the same pole sides , which does put you crazy close to someone else’s rig and doesn’t give you much space and privacy. There is no way we would pay north of 70-90 $ a night for what you got. Here’s to brighter places on the horizon !

    We always say that there is a difference between "big rig friendly" and "big rig accessible". We had to stay in a similar park in North Fort Myers when our Peace River reservation was canceled. TT opened some parks a little early because they had so many full timers displaced when Peace River didn't open in time. I was very grateful they squeezed us into two parks that weren't really big enough for us, because otherwise we would have had to leave Florida because it's so hard to get last minute reservations there. And, I really like your new rating system. 🙂

    Your Watchdog was awesome to help you with those spikes in electricity. We have really struggled with understanding some of those extra fees with some of the Trails Collection parks. We stayed at one in New Hampshire to be close to our nephew and his wife, that we were like, if it wasn't for the location to them we would not pay that. We had to pay $20 a day for a tight spot, but in this instance it wasn't safe for another reason. The police were being called out to the park on a regular basis. Luckily, we only stayed a couple nights. Great job maneuvering the rig through all that. Still tight, but at least you can get to those bins under the slide. You tell 'em Maya. You guys were very positive. Like you scale system. Hope you guys are having a great time in the Keys. 'Old Guy Coming' 😂😂. Not the place for Maya to escape.😪

    • @ChasingOurSunshine
      @ChasingOurSunshine  Год назад +1

      We are so grateful for our Watchdog- the electrician said most people don’t have a surge guard and would have no clue there was a power issue. The park is on a temporary grid system and that spot was the end of the line. He said the more RVs that come in the more problems they are having. No clue to the justification for the $20! Maya came running out and then was like- oh no, I don’t want to be outside here! 😂 - Thanks Joel, Deb & 🐕 Maya

    I feel your pain and frustration. I had a power issue at a park too. I was so worried i would fry my coach. This was before I bought my Watch Dog. I don't think this park should have been open so soon. I hope they get the problems fixed otherwise it can cause people not to book there.

    Yeah I wouldn't have been happy there either at all. I understand that they probably couldn't have afforded to stay closed but at the very very minimum they should have focused on one half of the campground and fix that half before they opened then they could have open up half of the campground first and kept everybody separate from the half that's not finished. That is just an absolute random mess everywhere and absolutely agree that it's not safe especially if you have kids.
    Then there is the space issue... even when the campground is fully operational I wouldn't stay there with those sites being that close, that's not okay. And I don't like sites where you are sharing your camp side of the camper with your neighbor. In my opinion all of this is just plain greedy on the park owners... I understand they're trying to make as much money as possible but don't do it at the expense of your paying customers. I would rather pay a little bit more for the site than to be right on top of my neighbor.

    It’s not trying to get into a Camp Grounds that you just don’t like. You’ve been pretty lucky though if this is the first one that was really bad in 18 months you’ve been out. Been doing this for quite a while and I only came across one or two that I probably would not go back to. We kinda go back to the same ones year after year, hopefully will get to get out farther in the next year or so. Even our trip to Yellowstone we only ran into one campgrounds that we were not really happy with. Thanks from Wisconsin. PS anyone nice scoring for Camp Grounds are you going to have something printed up so we can copy it?

    If I was even Considering going to a Fort Myers RV park there's no way in heck that I would be judging it right now. Common sense tells me that I shouldn't expect 5 star resort. The area was completely decimated by the hurricane a few months ago. Why would you even think it would be OK to stay in the area at all?

    • @mollyjackson5731
      @mollyjackson5731 Год назад +2

      WOW- they said they weren’t judging the park on the hurricane damage and understood that. The park would not a good place to stay at all even before the hurricane or once it is completed fixed up and it is obvious from the video.

    • @ChasingOurSunshine
      @ChasingOurSunshine  Год назад +1

      It is OK to stay in the area and have enjoyed the beach, supporting the local businesses that are open and have had a lot of fun. This is not a 5 start RV Resort, knew it wasn’t before getting here so had low expectations going it. We even called to confirm that they were really open and it was safe to stay here. We were told that they we all “good to go” other than the hot tub and TV cable was not working. We are happy we came and were able to help with the area recovery. Would we stay at this park again- no.
