To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand en passant jokes. The humour is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of chess theory most of the jokes will go over a typical redditor's head
(sorry my cat walked on my keyboard and this was the result)
What if I'm sensitive to soy
@@EnheTook50Benadrylyou are.....
As much as I want to watch this vid of one of my favorite games, I refuse to watch anything sponsored by soylent. I've watched every video you've put out since the Dashie days, but I can't back that poison.
@@milesj.943 I find it more interesting that you somehow didn't think Ryu was soy
"There's the (Kong) letter, which I don't really need." - Ryu with his one life left.
If you don't have an exclamation point on the name of the stage you didn't collect all the Kremlin coins
I LOVE how the volume of the game is lowered in most stages of this video yet when THE MUSIC is about to happen ( like in stages such as Bramble Scramble) he just unapologetically turns up the volume a bit. Well done sir
"Every time that beat drops, my soul is being cradled by God himself".
Can't say it's even an exaggeration. That's just how it is. lol
Agree
David Wise either tapped into the muse known as God himself, or he just is God. But at least one of those options has to be true
I think Ryu may really like Stickerbush Symphony...just call it a hunch. 😆
Just got through playing this game. Had the same reaction every time. Was wondering if it was just me 😂😂. Damn good music in this game
24:02 if you press and hold left when the race starts, your car will move back and hit a hidden turbo barrel.
I didn't know about that, and still finished with the DK coin. The cart goes at blinding speed anyway
"We got 69 bananas in the mud hole" - Ryu 2024
“We’re going to 100% this” he says as he passes a bonus.
He can go back and get it lol
@@Flyingboots1if he plans on 101% will be a must
@@Flyingboots1 sorry I didn’t know you could see into the future, my bad.
@@Flyingboots1 😂🤣
@@Flyingboots1 That's a broad accusation. Why do you feel this way? I am genuinely asking because I only watched him play Mario Maker this is legitimately my first time watching him play any other game
This is easily among my favorite games of all time, and by god, it has aged incredibly well. And don't even get me started on the soundtrack.
Needless to say, I am backseat gaming so hard every time he misses a bonus barrel.
But here's to 102% anyway!
Edit: What the hell was that bug at 40:14? That is definitely not the intended solution lmao. Ryukhar has discovered more bugs in this playthrough than I have in a lifetime.
It's a trick called Rambi Doublejump. Speedrunners use it a lot. When you are in a charged jump with Rambi you just hit B again and then left and right on the D-Pad in order to get a doublejump. You should try it, it's not too difficult.
Also I agree with everything you said. DKC2 is a wonderful game and easily my favorite on the snes. I do 102% every year and it never gets old.
You spider friend, you can aim his webbing. Either the platforms and the projectile weapon. Also, while on Squawks, the floor brambles will not count for damage but the sides and bonking the ceiling still counts as damage.
I wish he'd figured out the trick with squawks. Not knowing makes the levels twice as hard
Please let us not wait 2 Month for next part
For the record you 100% cheesed the DK coin. You are supposed to go over top of the rambi room with your buddy Before turning into him
I didn't know you could grab that DK coin with Rambi. There is a way that you can get it with Diddy & Dixie. You would have to buddy throw above the cave and reach for the sticky honey INSTEAD of going in the Rambi cave.
I think he cheesed it with rambi lol
That was a glitch. How much you wanna bet speedrunners use it all the time lol
Yeah, I just learned something new as well. I had no idea that was possible, but count on Ryu to find the cheese, I guess! 😅
I think the exclamation point after the stage name indicates that the level is 100% complete
yes it means you got all the bonuses
Not exactly. The exclamation signifies all the bonus coins were obtained but you need a DK symbol for the DK coin. The KONG letters are obsolete in this title (and in all the classic country games) as it just gets you an extra life and there is no way to track them through the game.
@@Ruizon1 Yup. That is true, but in the GBA versions, the KONG letters are tracked in each level and they count towards 100% completion. Not sure why the decided to do that, but it definitely makes the games a bit trickier to fully complete.
Couple of pro tips.
1. Both Dixie and Diddy can do the mid air jump from the ground. With diddy you cartwheel, dixie does a hair twirl into a jump.
2. you can angle the webs from the spider, both the attack ones and the platform ones, by hitting that direction your d-pad before you shoot.
Makes it easier.
You can also press L & R at the same time with the spider while jumping to create an instant web platform.
40:20 you can actually skip getting Rambi, right before you enter the area with the Rambi barrel, you gotta throw your partner over the entrance as you can just walk there, it took me quite some time to figure that one out aswell haha
When people are getting more conscious of what's in the food they're eating, why on earth would you name your food product Soylent?
I love Soylent Green!
It's people!
@@mattb6522 tasty people. 😁

23:03 iirc you can shoot up or down the spider's web, so you can make a sort of "stair" with it to go down.
yeah you can, in fact its crucial for later levels :>
Me: Its a game about monkeys lol, how good could it be
The game:
Considering I found Ryu through Mario Maker and Kaizo hacks it's really funny watching him play a game where I'm much better than him at it.
At least for now, he starts learning speedrun strats thatll change 😅
Still hoping he checks out DKC2: The Lost Levels after this too!
Edit - ... does he not know about roll jumping?
Edit 2 - never mind he does, didn't seem to realize Dixie can do it too though 😂😅
Hey @Ryu.
I got two tips for you.
In squawks levels, you can touch the thorns under the monkeys and not take damage.
Also, you can aim your spider webs up and down before shooting.
You can also roll off a ledge and get a mid air jump.
Who else wants Ryu to make a video of playing the music to Bramble Scramble?
Ryu, do you know that there is an exclaimation point after the stage name if you found every bonus in that level?
Soylent is soo much more than a delicious treat. It is also a clean and beneficial way to get rid of our excess dead bodies while making money. So try Soylent Disclaimer, Soylent beverages taste can vary from person to person.😂😂
Thats amazing, you totally glitched the game with Rambi to get that DK coin. You were supposed to throw your partner into the air outside the front of the Rambi room and jump over it. There are hooks there I think
This run stressed me out as I didn't know if Ryu had been saving his game as he progressed. I assume he cut out footage of saving his progress, but it was still a bit nerve-racking!! 😅
...Huh? I never seen anyone get the DK Coin in Rambi Rumble like that...Usually, you team up and throw a kong over the door to Rambi's barrel and you can get it that way.
Yes, that is the intended way. I also did this Rambi wall jump tho, I didn't knew that you could go above Rambi's area when i was younger, lol
if you want to 100% you also need to find and complete every bonus rooms in every stage. A stage will show the bonuses have been found and completed by putting an excalmation mark at the end of its name after its completion.
For those not in the know, the spider friend's name is Squitter
The chocolate mint and the strawberry soylent are excellent
Kept praying you wouldn't die in the Bramble Scramble so that the music wouldn't stop lol.
These need to be more frequent releases please!
2:20 no you didn't miss a coin... but you did get distracted and miss a second bonus door
the lack of saving was concerning me.. I hope you made a save state! or went to kong kollege off camera! otherwise you'll start back at the beginning of this world next time you load the game 😱
Yeah, same here. My guess is that he forgot he has to manually save because it's been so long since he last played. Hopefully I'm wrong and he did off-camera.
Also, as others have said, he forgot that if you don't see an "!" after the level name, you didn't find all the bonus areas.
One of the greatest games of all time. This was my entire childhood.
Pro strats. You can rest on the “floor” vines when carrying the kongs in bramble levels.
"we're gonna finish this game" made my day... or improved it at the very least
but are you going to finish it 102%?
Hey Leon? Hope you like trill rides 😂
You know I really did think this was a one and done. Glad to see this back on the schedule and I hope it continues!
i wish we could have a donkey koong country maker somehow, someday!
Hi Ryu, just FYI you know when a level is 100% completed when you have an "!" exclamation mark in front of the name of the level and a DK MARK...... BTW, nice video man! Thanks.
SOYLENT GREEN IS PEOPLE!!!!
Hey there Ruy. I remember this game as a kid. I was born into the NES era and have much love and respect for someone like you to relive these nostalgic games.
I have a few things for you. First, since you mentioned in your first video that you were trying to get all of the DK coins, you will have to get all of the bonus game "Kremcoins" since the DK coins in the lost world are part of the package. To figure out which levels you have collected all of the kremcoins, on the level map, each stage name will have an ! at the end of their name. You can verify that yourself by going back to the first world and looking at the first level you did. Or you can just replay the first level on a new game and test it out yourself, paying attention to the name change before and after.
Omg...Soylent green!
Some of the secrets are really tricky, like having to skip an animal buddy to hop over for a collectible.
I know you just uploaded part 4 recently but I just finished that and remembered something... So I came back to this episode to keep this amazing moment for future reference: 33:23 (Poor Dixie, that drop was so long and seeing her cry is so sad... but also hilarious too (im sorry dixie😢) )
Btw, I absolutely LOVE this series. I've been watching this with my sister and we're having a blast, haha. :)
This game still holds up so well! I'm sure this has been mentioned, but in the GBA version, the KONG letters _do_ count for 100% which makes it a little more challenging. Though, I think it does also have quality of life improvements over the SNES version like saving your Banana Coins after you turn the game off.
Man, the first time encountering King Zing in the Rambi chase level was like my first jumpscare as a kid. 😅It is a really cool concept since it leads into the boss fight in the next level. This boss always gave me trouble as a kid. I appreciate that Rare made this game more challenging than the first game, but some secrets like the false vine wall in the Bramble level are kind of BS.
I'm pretty sure Squawks shoots eggs. How that works...who knows??
12:05
Yep. A game about monkeys.
With the most beautiful, inspiring, trance-inducing music this side of a Persona game...
33:29
I love DKC2, Ryu, and Ryu playing DKC2.
Squitter can shoot webs up or down if you hold those directions as he fires webs. Super handy for killing annoying enemies at different elevations!
One of the more delicious pieces of 90s nostalgia pie... Total MASTERPIECE. 😎
23:00 That other banana is a 3UP. 29:10 Ironically, Sonic's shoes DO make a cameo in this game!
Soylent = people
Hey Ryu. Thank you really much for playing one of my favorite games of my childhood. I wanna give you a little hint with Webster (the Spider). when you shoot his nets you can press up or down to make it go in an angle. That helps you on spots like in Bramble Scramble with the DK coin on which you didnt know how to get back down without dying. Keep up your great work and i look forward to the rest of the series ^^
you know why you're on your last life?
BECAUSE YOU KEEP IGNORING ALL THE FREE BANANAS RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU!
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
If you dont have a “!” Next to the level you didnt get all the bonusses (or missed the dk coin)
I have a fan theory that you face Queen Zing from the other game, in a powered down form. After you escape, the king gets mad. I'm not sure if that's official, but we did technically kill the boss crow enemy in this game.
You cheesed that Rambi DK coin. Youre supposed to get there without Rambi.
Also the bit where you were blindly dropping down the honey. I think youre supposed to helicopter down with Dixie.
It's not just a game about monkeys! It's a game about monkeys fighting crocodiles! Just responding to the title.
I've been playing through this for the first time, and I have died like 20-25 times per level, and Ryu does it in 1-3 lives. I am no pro-gamer lol
More DKC2!! Such a great game. As I kid, I never got past Gloomy Gulch though. Please play more soon!
I actually just purchased thisbgame today will be hooking the old snes back up and going for 101% all kremlin coins all dk coins
Yesss! OMG I played this game sooooo much when I was a kid. I remember the first time I beat it. It was nuts, no one believed me until I got photo I took was developed.
Never realized how similar this game is to the Gameboy version (only one I've ever played). Brings back memories :)
My favorite game of all time. A true 100% run will get all bonuses, defeat end game boss the second time then go back to level 1 and get the secret 75 krem coins. And more
Some stages were so incredibly boring and annoying to watch... OMG dude...
Try to aim when you shoot the web, it can travel diagonally up if you hold up while shooting. Both the climbing webs but also attackwebs
I always trusted you would come back
Can’t wait to see more of this soon! Been watching with my son and just soaking up the nostalgia. Apparently I beat more than I thought when I was a kid!
Also I'd just like to point out 30:48
They see me rollin', they hatin'.
excellent vibes over this track!
As a kid I remember really struggling against that bee boss. I don't know if I ever got past it. You made it look so easy. I have not played this game in a long time.
The soylent commercial was so funny I didn't mind the cringe shilling soyjak gamer sauce.
Have you played the Mirror League races in F-Zero 99?
I dont know if you know this but with the spider you can hold a direction (up or down mostly) and it will curve the webs (the ones you can jump on)
You can definitely hear sound bites from Killer Instinct.. same developer.
I've been replaying this game recently and this was such a fun gameplay to watch, I hope he keeps playing soon.
"Rare fix your game!" -Ryu
What every modern day Sea of Thieves player is saying 😂
Also if i remember correctly i think when your riding with squacks you can hover abover the thorns and not get hurt you just cant touch the wall of thorns
"Even you can finish this silly game now!"
@17:37 what the game is showing you, if you have sense of orientation, is that there is a platform at a certain point, meaning later, when you're flying over, if you remember well, you can reach that location. that was a common trick on that game. dkc 2 looks very similar but very different than super mario bros. it's funny how a game studio turned to made absolutely crazy genious software on 16bit to poorly received titles on n64. many studio didn't turned weel that 3d corner. if people knew what crappy game we have in 2024, people studio would never have stopped producing snes games. but it's always like that. you have to lose someone or something to figure how precious he or it was.
Imagine, if the bramble levels had any other BGM they would probably be very loathed.
Man, I don't know about that Soylent... I mean, is it really even made of people?
You should play Super Monkey Ball 1 and 2 remastered on the Switch :D
As hard as Donkey Kong Country 2 is, the music is very relaxing.
If we are being technical there is no way Diddy and Donkey Kong can be related. Diddy is a monkey because he has a tail and DK is actually an ape
Wish you could finish Tropical Freeze too! You did not play the secret world or hard mode!
1 of the many many games ive speedran but im not very good at it, but i like running it and the 1st one as well, 1st one is 1 of my favorite games ever.
you and mike matei should do some collaborations.. you guys play alot of the same games and are both pretty darn good.
he could also take you on a tour on how to beat some of the worst games ever made too hehe
Ryu you have to save the game pn the Switch not in the game!!!your coins will tank you
Does Ryu know that theres an "!" put on the level name once you get all the secrets? I'm pretty sure you need every krem koin to get the true ending
40:15 This may not be the intended way to get that DK, but I gotta respect that moment. Like how?!
Can you go over the map to double check. I don't think you have 100%
I super, super, super love this game. I'm so happy you're still playing it!
In the squacks stage where the check point barrel is at im pretty sure you can jump through the thorns on the right
“I killed Diddy”. Ryu you just did the world a big favor bud 😂😂😂
