Shelby Lynne (born Shelby Lynn Moorer, October 22, 1968) is an American singer and songwriter and the older sister of Allison Moorer. The success of her pop rock album I Am Shelby Lynne (1999) led to her winning the Grammy Award for Best New Artist (despite being her sixth studio album). She released a Dusty Springfield tribute album called Just a Little Lovin' in 2008. Since then she has started her own independent record label, called Everso Records, and released three albums: Tears, Lies and Alibis, Merry Christmas, and Revelation Road. Lynne is also known for her distinctive contralto voice.
George Glenn Jones (September 12, 1931 - April 26, 2013) was an American musician, singer and songwriter. He achieved international fame for his long list of hit records, including his best known song "He Stopped Loving Her Today", as well as his distinctive voice and phrasing. For the last twenty years of his life, Jones was frequently referred to as the greatest living country singer. Country music scholar Bill Malone writes, "For the two or three minutes consumed by a song, Jones immerses himself so completely in its lyrics, and in the mood it conveys, that the listener can scarcely avoid becoming similarly involved." Waylon Jennings expressed a similar opinion in his song "It's Alright": "If we all could sound like we wanted to, we'd all sound like George Jones." The shape of his nose and facial features earned Jones the nickname "The Possum".

Lyrics:
Take me, take me to your darkest room
Close every window and bolt every door
The very first moment I heard your voice
I'd be in darkness no more
Take me to your most barren desert
A thousand miles from the nearest sea
The very moment I saw your smile
It would be like heaven to me
There's not any mountain to rugged to climb
No desert too barren to cross

Darlin', if you would just show a sign
Of love, I could bear with all loss
Take me to siberia
And the coldest weather of the winter time
And it would be just like spring in california
As long as I knew you were mine
Yes, it would be just like spring in california
As long as I knew you were mine
Take me, take me

If I've said it once I've said it a hundred times. Shelby Lynne needs to do a traditional country music cd. By her having her own label now she could do it her way.
She is a wonderful singer. She sings, not yelling.
this is a lovely memory to have of George, so glad Shelby did this with him, they have both gone to hell and back, but still held on to their talent. Thank you Shelby and Rest in peace Mr. George Jones
Even at 80 years old, George sings Country with more passion than ANY of these new-style bubble-gum country fakers. God, I miss Country Music.
The MAN still sounds AWESOME at 80!!

George was great.
2022 love this great soul music 🎶🎶🎶🎶
George was looking at her singing her part as though he was thinking oh if I were 20 or 30 years younger, I’d take you all right lol
George started to struggle then and Shelby Lynne helped him along....one of the very greatest long gone now,a sound never to be heard again.
I love this song
I have the DVD from this tribute to George.
Well worth the money. The whole concert is awesome.
Shelby doing a yeoman's job on this. George's voice was showing the signs of the cigarettes getting to him. George really enjoyed that hug.
Well, George quit cigarettes and drinking about 15 years ago from when this was recorded and plus he got into that accident that caused his lung to collapse, so maybe having an injured lung impaired his ability to hit the notes prior to his accident!
Played this 20 times in a row ❤
INCREDIBLE!!! she is soooooo under rated
Sweet
RIP, Mr Jones...
This song was actually a poem
I feel George was thinking of a better place
Perfection!

The one and only, "The Possum"
2:17-2:18 George was transported back into the late 60's, early 70's singing with Tammy. Shelby did kind of look like Tammy did back then with her hair cut short.
Hello George Jones ,, I know it"s kind of late to say this but I Miss you a lot ,, especially your singing and I CRY in my heart when I listen to you here on you tube and I Pray yo GOD Almighty that you are there next to GOD , I always wanted to meet you in Person but being short of $$$$ was always my problem . If you can find it in your heart Please ask GOD to take pity on me and then Welcome me in to Heaven when it is my time to Die ,, then maybe I will then be able to meet you .
😍
Shelby Lynne is on tour right now. She's heading to the UK and northern
Europe. But, she will be back in the states (the northeast and the
mid-atlantic) in late March. If you like live acoustic with her exceptional
voice then go to her web-site for more info.
Come dear I owe you dinner for your great selection. Anytime.
its good we have no deaf among 60s
What on earth is wrong with you Nichols???????? Hello this woman has a dynamite voice and brings the house right down whenever and wherever she sings! End of story!
I touched Shelby Lynne in 2008 . . . with her consent. I was at an intimate-venue concert she'd just wrapped up on the Just A Little Lovin' tour, and she was about to drift off stage. As she passed by me - me at the edge of the stage - I stretched out my hand toward her. My God, she took it. For like just a second, a second and a half. It was electrifying. Then she was gone. Ever since that night I know firsthand what it means when people say "I'll never wash this hand again." Lol, of course I had to wash it at some point, but in my mind and heart and soul, I never have.
U are one lucky sweet person damn Im so jealous 😭
Nothing against Shelby Lynne -- I love her -- but check out the flawless live performance of this song with Tammy Wynette and George Jones. Tammy's voice blended better with Jones than anyone else's in those days.............
Nothing against her... and then you say something against her.
@edko426 no, george is playing this song just like 1965. it is SUPPOSED to be s-l-o-w
George and my Mom and Dad use to drink beer together at Magnolia Gardens In Channelview Texas in the 50's
That is awesome!
Big
Dang, there's a teleprompter
Good but, not Tammy.
OMG....this is aweful
I was at a concert some years ago where Shelby Lynne was the opening act.. and she was terrible and not very personable .. she got a few boos and actually flipped the audience off as she left the stage ... not a lot of class
You are right. The audience showed no class.
