I’ve just nominated you for a sainthood! My seatbelt is stuck, preventing me from putting my seat in the correct position (so it’s permanently folded flat). Getting the seatbelt off will allow me to have a look and fix it! Much love!
Robert, I love your stuff, but in the rear seat belt movie for the 850, you skip right over the toughest part--how to actually remove the trim over the latch and the seat belt! The clips are the easy part. What about the finicky latch mechanism!!!???? One minute you are removing the push clips, the next minute the whole cover is off.
David Samuels Grrr, those are the "in between steps". Your best bet is to go to a junk yard and practice there. I don't know what happened if it won't come loose when the pins are out.
What hangs up while removing those covers is the plastic latch release--it is press fit on the lever that releases the seat latch. There is nothing for it but to keep pulling upward on the cover, jiggling it back and forth. One just needs to be aware of how brittle the cover can be, especially in dry climates like ours. These parts will shatter so easily. The other issue is the center pins on the buttons that hold the cover in place. If you remove these by pushing the center pin in, you lose them inside the seat. They are too small to rattle audibly, but then you have nothing to secure the button with later. A tiny piece of doweling form the local crafts store will work, or you can buy new buttons from Volvo.
You can get them from the dealer but I went to the grocery store and got some bamboo skewers and stuck them in there broke them off and hit them with a black sharpie.
@@RobertDIY No I didn't. Are you supposed to? I heard that all youre supposed to do is unscrew the bolt for the seatbelt off and it should give it enough slack for it to reel back in.
it was very difficult to follow this video because of the constant blurry images. As someone who has never done any mechanical work on a vehicle and who is looking for instructions for what I need to do, I would have appreciated it more and gotten more out of it off I could see the whole time. I appreciate the instructions but I'll be looking at more videos hoping for better quality so I can understand it.
+Robert DIY no its the video. I watched again on another phone and a computer. it's definitely your video. maybe you should check YOUR device which was used to tape this and not blame it on others.
Hey, I'm just trying to help you not blame. If you don't appreciate the help, move on. It was clear enough for me to figure it out. The video has over 8,000 views and your quality complaint. Really???
You are a god. I've fixed at least a dozen things on my car thanks to your videos. Thanks so much for posting these.

You are welcome.
Thanks for this!! I really appreciate the help!!
Glad you found it. Thanks for watching.
Do I have to disconnect the battery to remove the seatbelts? Also wondering how to reach for the centre seatbelt in the rear.
Not in the rear.

Thanks for the update.
David Samuels Yes I had same problem , just have the latch in open position , and gently and firmly pull the latch UPWARDS.
Thanks Robert, this was really handy!
You are welcome.
Where did you buy the plastic retaining pins please?
You can get them from the dealer but I went to the grocery store and got some bamboo skewers and stuck them in there broke them off and hit them with a black sharpie.
Thank you for your Info, I still like to know how to remove real seat cushion all so.
Once you have the seat out and the skin removed, you should see the hooks that hold the cushion to the frame.
Any chance you can replace driver seatbelt with the rear driver-side seatbelt as a temporary solution? I have a '96 Volvo 850.
No. I think I have one if you need it. Send me a private message.
thanx for helping volvo fans
Thanks for watching. I enjoy it.
My seatbelt is still stuck on my V70 after I unbolted the bottom bolt. Is there anyway I can free the seatbelt without buying a new one?
I have no idea. Did you disconnect the battery?

Did you watch the video?
Oh, thought it was a front seat belt.
@@RobertDIY Yeah I didnt plan on taking it to a dealer. Thought this could be done by yourself
does the head rest just pull right out or is it bolted in there?
AwakeDude911 The fronts pull right out, the rears have a clip that you have to pull back (hidden behind the end cap trim).
The sound doesn't seem to be working unfortunately, but it all seems fairly straightforward.
Hi Richard. The sound works great. Maybe you need to restart your device.
I'll give that a try. The sound was fine on the other I watched. Thanks
Thank you Robert both of my back seats wont gold down I'm trying to put my dresser in the car I see now what I have to do I have an o1 v70t4

Maybe it is your device. Try watching on a computer.

@@ap7455 I know this is an old comment but geez, what a sense of entitlement you have!
