When i was a kid we always have those wooden slingshots and use stones for ammo. One time my dad saw me using the slingshot aiming at the mango fruit from the tree hoping it will fall down and I could eat it. Then my dad told me that i shouldn't aim for the fruit, as it will damage it, and that I should aim for the stalk/stem of the fruit instead. I laughed because the stem was too little of a target so I thought he was joking. Then he grabbed the slingshot, loaded it up, and with one shot, he hit the stem and the fruit fell to the ground. My jaw dropped and was so amazed to see that.
Yep- if you grew up in the 50s and 60s- kids were crazy about sling shots and some of them got really, really good with them. My dad could shoot through the neck of a bottle and knock the bottom out - which amazed us kids. So, we started trying to learn to shoot- on about my third try I hit my thumb with a steel ball, and it broke it- it was what they call a "wrist rocket" and I had it dimed out- pulled back as far as it would go. Man, it hurt- I will never forget the pain.
@@stoneysdead689 I had a wrist rocket lying around last year & gave it to my boss because squirrels were getting into his bird feeders. Don't know if he used it??

Great video. We had homemade slingshots as boys using very heavy rubber bands. The slingshots were carved using a natural “Y” shaped branch. Because we were boys with lots of time on our hands we became deadly accurate with them. I recall that they could punch a marble through a glass bottle without shattering the glass - just two neat holes.
Yeah, I remember whittling one as a kid myself as well, it was really hard to find bands in the mountains we lived, but when we got them it kept us entertained for hours. Even with that little thing, it was much more powerful than it looked like. I also remember seeing a professionally made one with the wrist stabilizer when I was about 10, and that one was so powerful it made me skittish. I knew if one of my idiot friends aims it like an idiot and hits me, it'd be like getting hit with a bullet. And I didnt need the help, I ended up catching a bullet as an adult because of an idiot not being careful🙄
I bought one called a “wrist rocket” which had a brace which stabilized it by resting on your forearm. It came with about 20 1/2” ball bearings for ammo. I have no doubt it would kill at close range. My mother confiscated it.
it wasn't the scope, it just couldn't handle the slowness and heavy drop of the projectile. You'd need a canted mount that points it down a few degrees, they're really common to use on air rifles. In air rifles it's referred to as 'barrel droop' in the US. Break-barrel air rifles tend to lose elevation over time so that led to scope mounts with an angle.
As an air-gunner myself I've noticed, additionally, the stock scopes that come with most air rifles aren't made to be used at the shorter ranges at which airguns operate. I often have to adjust a scope 4x more than what seems necessary.

Well... with a firearm you shoot at the same point several times and then adjust the scope from there and keep trying until you're zeroed. In theory you'll always hold it the same way so you need to adjust the scope for you, not for a static mount.
As a perfectionist, this is the kind of stuff I aspire to make. I work in video games (PC tech), but I dropped out of film school. This guy puts serious effort into cinematography and editing. Jorge Sprave from The Slingshot Channel developed the Rambone Slingshot as a commercial product. During his tests he showed that with the right bands, his slingshot could hit with comparable force to a .44 mag round out of a handgun.
It’s not just about the bands though, the shot you are using matters as well, steel, lead, glass all have different effects. I love shooting slingshots and hunting with them.
My grandpa use to have his friend craft his slingshots out of wood. Their desing would usually be based on pinup dolls look alike. I remember him having a siren and a nurse painted in whites and reds, the siren was green stoney looking.
@@rangerjoe126I guess they would've had rubber slingshots at that point so maybe. By the way, is my comment showing up twice for you as well? It is for me and I want to delete the extra one but don't know if it's just a glitch on my side.
I think the reason you couldn't burst the hairspray can, and why the bearings wouldn't penetrate the ballistic gel, was that you were using the larger diameter bearings. If you'd used the same bearings as the other tests, I'm pretty sure it would have been superior in that category. Especially so if the larger bearings were made of a less-dense alloy.
the cool thing about the pocket shot is that you can make it yourself with any peice of round plastic (like a big pipe) and also a partly cut baloon and tape
No that’s how you make a toy. If you put on the red arrow pouch for much for power and draw length as well as accuracy the pocket shot can easily break ribs with a 10mm steel ball. Also with the pro arrow pouch it can shoot an arrow with a 40lb pull, the minimum to hunt deer in the US is 35lb. Not the same kid.

During his tests he showed that with the right bands, his slingshot could hit with comparable force to a .44 mag round out of a handgun.
It’s not just about the bands though, the shot you are using matters as well, steel, lead, glass all have different effects. I love shooting slingshots and hunting with them.
I'm having a really hard time believing that. Are you absolutely sure? Did you read the data correctly?
@@ShannonDove-sy7ye Slingshots can transfer a lot of momentum to a target. It's an apples to oranges comparison, though.
Jorge is slingshot God!!! I love his laughter when he just destroys stuff!! This channel is growing on me also ii have to say! v:)
@@ShannonDove-sy7yethe man has done crazier things with sling shots so I doubt he’s lying. He’s made saw blade launchers to machete launchers.

We used to make slingshots out of tree branches and tire tubes.
Came for the slingshots, stayed for the humor. Good stuff my guy.

*This video has a "Mythbusters" level! Great job Mike!*

Bro... This video... So much happening in the best way... It's like listening to animals as leaders while doing science and I'm here for it
My grandpa use to have his friend craft his slingshots out of wood. Their desing would usually be based on pinup dolls look alike. I remember him having a siren and a nurse painted in whites and reds, the siren was green stoney looking.
Great vid,
You put a lot of effort into this.

Funfact: The British banned slingshots in the British Raj as they were often used by rebels and were quite deadly
Which type of sl shot?
Slings or slingshots?
@@yorkleroy5605 I think both because they are deadly depending on the ammo they use and the user
@@rangerjoe126I guess they would've had rubber slingshots at that point so maybe.
By the way, is my comment showing up twice for you as well? It is for me and I want to delete the extra one but don't know if it's just a glitch on my side.
@@yorkleroy5605yes it's showing up twice
Fixed up a slingshot from the 70's. Still shoots like it was brand new. Never underestimate a good slingshot. Fifty years later.

A drapped sheet as a backstop will reduce the noise and allow for collection.
Also find a checkweld and always release from that spot.
3:24 i see what you did there with the bullseye 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I think the reason you couldn't burst the hairspray can, and why the bearings wouldn't penetrate the ballistic gel, was that you were using the larger diameter bearings. If you'd used the same bearings as the other tests, I'm pretty sure it would have been superior in that category. Especially so if the larger bearings were made of a less-dense alloy.
I was going to say the same thing. . It is why a 9mm has more penetration than a .45.

Dude… your understated and quickly delivered comedy is really good! You got a couple of LOLs from me.
the cool thing about the pocket shot is that you can make it yourself with any peice of round plastic (like a big pipe) and also a partly cut baloon and tape
Your sense of humor and your delivery of jokes are 10/10
cant believe I never seen your stuff earlier
This is another great video. The editing is amazing by the way. I fell in love with your videos all over again.
The humour is just impeccable 😂💯
I laughed almost the entire time. You've got a really great sense of humor. Thank you for this!
It is easy to make you laugh then.
6:50 That was close, man.
Awesome video! When I was younger, I'd collect Y shaped sticks for a slingshot. Later, I used the plastic circle thingy inside sticky tape and a balloon (similar to slingshot nr 2) and shoot ripe corn haha
I am barely over 4 minutes in and I had to subscribe. Your content and production is top shelf! Kudos my friend. You hang in there, even greater things are waiting for you. I have faith.
Your channel is very informative and your use of video effects is absolutely hilarious! Actually, you are a very funny, creative and entertaining man! Your use of tabulated data from performance measurements for comparative analysis is commendable. The scientific principles were presented in a way that is easy and really fun to understand. Your viewers appreciate this. Congratulations, keep up the good work!
The casual humors, really funny lol
YOU sir are living proof that comedy is international.

Ok your vfx edits are hilarious. Even though I am not going to finish this video, you get a like and a sub.
This is not only fascinating and informative, but also brilliantly edited and entertaining as hell. Great work man
