Duranki is a prequel, I'm sure of it. It's in the same world as Berserk, but before the "fantasia" was cut off from the world of the humans. Duranki is "the age of the gods", while Berserk happens in the transitional state between "the age of man" back to another age of fantasia. Usum is probably the one who will close the age of gods and cut the fantasia off the material world, a hero that lived in the remote past, so remote that it was completely forgotten by the time of Berserk. Miura and the team doesn't need to have a clear intention of showing the connection to the fans, much less do I think they will provide an explicit connect, but I think the very concept of Duranki was born when Miura wondered about the remote past of the universe he had created for Berserk. Gigantomachia might also be the product of Miura asking this same question, but thinking of the remote future (really REMOTE). But I feel Duranki will be longer and more intricate than Giganto, so the connections will surely continue to arise more just by the fact that Miura doesn't need to draw (and so the story can go on longer).

This series is really interesting and i like how it's developing as a story. But it's mostly for Miura's Studio Gaga to get used to drawing in Miura's style. Miura is just giving general direction and storyboards for this series. Most of the artwork is being done by the studio. I think he wants more time to play idolmaster but he also probably wants more time to develop berserk's story and draw it out. Such a gosh darn perfectionist that ill never see an ending to berserk! (i hope we do)
I can definitely see the possibility of this being in the same universe as berserk, 2,000 or more years in the past from the current time. I don't think that this is about Skull Knight though. SK is all but confirmed to be Geiseric. Based on Gaiseric, King of the Vandals and Alans. His time and setting would be different than this. Vandals were from Poland, Alans the Eurasian steppe. Gaiseric reigned in the 5th century AD. I've read that the setting of Duranki is based on Anatolia (Turkey), and there's a lot of Mesopotamian and Greek references. The time period seems to be around the Mycenaen period, 1600-1100 BC. Possibly earlier. All evidence points to this not being about SK. Different cultures, different time periods. You never know though. Just my thoughts.

John Smith as a Fromsoftware fan, I’ve always seen people make up theories that Demon’s Souls, Dark Souls, Bloodborne and Sekiro take place in the same universe. There is no evidence outside of a single reference (i.e. Stormruler and Moonlight greatsword) and the fact that they’re all directed by Miyazaki. Also with those weapons, they’re not even consistent within all their appearances. There is absolutely nothing in the entire manga so far that suggests that this is in any way related to Berserk. Believe it or not, creators like Miura nd Miyazaki are entirely capable of producing original works that doesn’t need to connect to anything done before.
Gotta say that this is a real breath of fresh air for me as a berserk fan. I love miura’s art style and overall story telling. The story has been really interesting and I’m super curious what the story is going to lead to after the inevitable conflict that looks like is being set up. The use of gods and monsters in this really are incredibly cool to me. I hope a new chapter comes soon it’s been a seriously long time now I imagine because of covid. It’s really unfortunate.

So my guess is that the Prince is gonna become Gilgamesh and Usum will become Enkidu. I also think that Miura is gonna add some of his good old rape method of character development/tragedy.

its being used as practice by the people under miura so they can more competently emulate his style for berserk, hes planning on acquiring some help while he works alongside them with the chapters and touch ups so berserk can have a more regular schedule
