    Great video! I am going back and forth between SmartStrand and nylon. My big concern is that nylon doesn't seen to be as fade-resistant or stain-resistant as SmartStrand or worry a lot over whether guests will spill something. I don't want to have to keep my drapes closed in the daytime, so I'd appreciate any insight you have on those concerns.

    How easy is smart strand to vacuum? Are some smart strands easier to vacuum than others? Helpful video.

      Not really, but some of the lower piles are some what easier. If your beater bar has a height adjustment, keep it at the higher setting. Thanks for watching and please subscribe to our RUclips channel.

      The ease of vacuuming has more to do with your particular vacuum and its settings more so than the carpets. tlccarpetcare.net

    pet urine will find and bond with the latex blended adhesive between the primary and secondary backing so don't say urine will not penetrate smartstrand. It will and will get to the backing then wick back up the carpet. Finer denure is more difficult to vacuum as air flow will be less effective at pulling abrasive dirt from the yarns. when cleaning with just water you will find it more difficult to extract moisture from the yarns as they pack together more readily and thus take longer to dry. There are always some down sides to so called "better fibers"

      Let’s clarify what point you’re trying to make here. You stated that the urine will penetrate and attach to the primary and secondary backing. True.
      The statement made in the video was that the YARN ( the material the occupant interacts with ) will not (permanently) accept the (stain / or discolor) from a pet or human accident. True as well. I’m so confused and don’t understand why you would suggest the video or statement is misleading?? Now to your point, lets say the (biohazard / contaminant) reached the primary and secondary backing of ANY carpet product. Are there not ways in todays day and age to deep clean and remove those contaminants from the secondary and primary backing ( odor & residual contaminants that could possibly wick back up through the EXTERIOR of the fiber?? The answer is yes as well! We’re you aware of these FACTS?? Being you’re so knowledgeable of flooring technology I don’t see why you wouldn’t add that addendum to your post. Hmmm, one has to wonder??? If someone has an accident on a flooring product, the remediation of a pet or human urine stain to the product doesn’t happen organically, it requires a PROFESSIONAL to come, survey and execute the proper protocols and process to bring the flooring product back to like new condition. Just as if you were to scratch a cars exterior paint, i guess one could say hey….. that cars paint isn’t scratch proof. However, we all know it can be repaired and brought back to like new condition by a trained professional. Now lets go back to what was stated in the video, the smartstrand material is 100% stain proof from urine and feces stains as well. No other fiber has that guarantee in the industry, NONE, ZERO! Others claim stain RESISTANCE, or when you exercise your stain warranty with their product they claim your carpet has a pet stain guarantee, however the pets urine didn’t stain the carpet it discolored it. Manufacturers of alternate fibers will ask does your carpet have a discoloration warranty, unfortunately you’re reply will be no every time when discussing SOLUTION DYED POLYESTER, NYLON, SOLUTION DYED NYLON, ACRYLICS, POLY OLEFIN etc etc. That being said your pet stain guarantee with an alternate yarn is always rendered useless. If you find these comments misleading, or inaccurate please feel free to respond. However, i would recommend you have the required data and hard factual evidence to substantiate any claims. Appreciate your time!!

    We very much dislike smart strand carpet. It's been a great disappointment for our customers. It hasn't held up to any of its advertised claims. As a carpet care company anything with polyester is a great PITA. It's great for carpet sales because it gets replaced fast due to bad appearance especially on stairs. Air.O is the new bloated advertised sham. PET is still polyester, polyester bad. Nylon is great, we still service 20+ year nylons.
    One of our greatest repairs to poly carpets are sun rot at sliding glass doors and replacing premature worn out stairs at stair noses.

    Now, 2020, and we are told stain resistance is blended during the nylon fiber process rather than a post process. So is the car wax analogy still valid?

    • @fashioncarpets
      @fashioncarpets  4 года назад +1

      Yes it is better than a topical process but it will eventually wear off. With a SmartStrand product the stain resistance is built into the fiber and cannot wear off.

    Folks, try asking any store trying to sell you Smartstrand for a list of their customers who actually had it installed at least a few years prior. See if their reviews are as glowing as this man's. In my many years of professionally cleaning carpets we have found Nylon to be the overall best-cleaning, Smartstrand one of the WORST.
