Curious if there is a difference in retention between the SmartStrand 100% triexta vs the Smartstrand blend which is 50% triexta and 50% P.E.T.?

Hey man, as a professional also, who’s cleaned my share of these, I can attest once they get really dirty traffic areas from lots of dirty shoes, and the customer isn’t having it cleaned within the first couple of years, forget about cleaning it. Cleanability isn’t even close to nylon!

Agreed! We've seen examples of people who usually walk barefoot in the house as well, that carpet seems to love skin oils. Same with dog oils- especially customers who have oily-coated breeds like labs and retrievers. We can usually get an improvement with cleaning, but it's definitely not the same cleanability as nylon!

so if a carpet has a good texture warranty, is that the same thing as retention??

    • @Rendallscleaningmi

I believe most companies call it a "texture retention" warranty, but sometimes can be two different things (Ex: untwisting of fibers vs matting). I would double check with your manufacturer just to make sure.

Is nylon price highe than smartstrand Poly realy because of quality or is it because Nylon costs much more to produce and requires chemical additions to make it stain resistant ?

It is dirtier to manufacture, and more expensive. Smartstrand is made from about 30% cornhusk, while Nylon has several of its components made overseas (ot in texas), because they do not meet environmental standards.
