I worked up there a couple of years building Cell towers. Based in Chimoio. It's a wild beautiful world up there and the way you traveling is the ONLY way. Everyday is a adventure. Most of the smoke is burning trees for the production of coal I'm afraid. I'm sure you saw it next to the road in the big bags. The poeples resilience up there is amazing. There is a amazing road...coming out if Beira just before the Inhaca crossroads..that turns off to Inamatinga and inamatanga...an amazing road. Tip...small villages always seek out the chief..(I carried small bags of biltong as gifts. I had to liaise with them towers sites)...you will always find a safe place there to camp. I worked up through Gorongozo, Qualamane, Nampula, Angoche , Pemba etc etc. I drove 90..000km in 9 MTHS. I was there for 4 years. I miss is. Some villages can be unfriendly because if the war and each village still have their loyalty to different sides.,look out for the flags. Skip Vilankoulos...stop in at Inashorro on way south. Better.
Words have not been invented yet to describe how incredibly special this episode is! I remember you telling me about it but to actually see it and experience it,, its like I was there with you going through all those emotions and motions with you and thats what makes this episode (AND CHANNEL) so amazing. Your storytelling is pristine. Thank you for making good art. Also I can write a whole book on the quality of the production! IMMACULATE!!
The best Africa travel video I have ever watched and I have watched hundreds about the special continent, no great animal kills but the most honest and heartfelt thing. Thank you so very very much.
WoWW... you can really be proud of this one... what an episode it was Tim, just a shame B wasn't there to experience the last part of your trip. Cinematography outstanding as usual, the drone footage for me made this one a real feel like your there adventurer. Matthew (gift from god) what a guy! he's a real "Roger of Tsendze" in the making...This place is a real bucket list destination thank you for sharing it... your end comments about Africa is so true... like minded people spread the truth about the real Africa... keep the good vibes going and good things will happen... very much look forward to the next one... Ahhh Tim man what an absolute stunner of an episode. You had me in tears at the end. Thank you for sharing your storie and taking us along. We look forward to the next one🔥
I was there as a teenager, so maybe twenty years later another trip is called for! haha! In all seriousness we really want to get back to Zimbabwe soon, one of my favorite countries I explored as a kid!
You are a braver man than me. I know I would have called it quits at the top of that hill, in the dark, with no certainty on the end destination. Respect! Phenomenal series, thank you, Tim. And welcome to Cape Town!
Tim, you saved the best for last! What an inspiring and beautiful video!! You were very brave tackling that road solo 😮! Thank you for sharing Chimanimani with us 🥰
This was one of the most inspiring videos… As a Mozambican I made my first visit to Chimanimani in July last year after seeing this video. It was amazing, I went all the way to Chikukwa… not driving the Jibari but a 2014 Fortuner. Since then I went again in Sept and this time I took a friend when we did a trip all the way from Maputo to Lago Niassa. Thank you for your stories and the way to tell them… they are really inspiring. Hope to catch you on the road next time you visit Mozambique.
Wow Tim. Awesome episode bud. Congratulations. I was sweating on your night drive. Bought back memories of when I drove around the Chimanimani in pitch black trying to find a camp and not sure if you driving on the edge of a cliff or not. Damn scary and well done. Awesome awesome awesome!
WOW! Such a pity you couldn't have stayed longer, you have definitely inspired me and I share your heart with regards a love for Africa and her people and plan to explore, like you have, and experience more of this continent we call home.
Tim, the videos and content that you create are just incredible. It’s not just about the places that you explore and the knowledge you share with us regarding our beautiful continent but it is the passion and love behind the lens and that’s YOU! You are so talented and driven with determination, can’t wait to see where you explore next.
Thank you for all your support i really so appreciate it, and so happy you love this one! The next series is already shot, i just need to carve out about 500 hours to edit it!
Thank you!!! Just wish I could get permission to fly in more parks, but entirely understand why its so regulated! Next adventure is busy getting edited!
What an epic content Tim! As a Mozambican, you showed sights and landscapes that I have never imagined we had! Sad you had to go to the hustle of dealing with local police. We should have incentives for people like you to come round showcase our beautiful country and continent to the world! You definitely have a loyal follower in me! can't wait to watch your next adventure!
Wow...that was incredible. You got me to the edge of my bed as I was lying down watching! The incredible photography of the scenery, and the treacherous road to move through it all was nail-biting yet rewarding at last - thanks to Jabari! Tim, you show in your videos, the real purpose of traveling which is exploring Mother Nature and eventually exploring our own selves. The effort that you put in to "show it as it is" is admirable. Thank you for inspiring us. Looking forward to seeing more of your future videos
Ah Mo, what a wonderful comment, thank you! The new series is already completed and we are hard at work editing it, so hopefully it won't be too long, aiming for late June to start going live with the episodes!
That was an excellent episode. I once lived and worked on a game ranch in Zim that was on the banks of the Save River - Save Valley Conservancy. It had monster crocs! Looking forward to many more episodes!
Tim so glad you pull it through and continue. This epic channel this episode is out of this world thanks for sharing take care long live Lost in Africa
Wow Tim! What an amazing episode! Truly incredible! It was put together so well, and honestly also got me a little emotional! Africa is really a gem, and you've definitely encouraged more people to get out there. Thank you! Wishing you all the best going forward!
I have really enjoyed your Lost in Africa series plus Mozambique I am sorry it has come to an end but I will be looking forward to your next series. Thanks again I really enjoyed it. ❤
Good luck with future adventures. I am London UK based but visit S.A. regularly. I have become besotted with Africa so bought a Toyota 76 Series Landcruiser after thrashing a few rental cars. I can't wait to get out there as its all amazing. One day, Cairo here I come.... @@LostinAfrica
Chimanimani is amazing from both Countries, Zimbabwe and Mozambique. Its new everyday even even to us who are born there. Thank you for sharing this wonderful vedio. ❤
Awesome episode Tim,I was totally engrossed the whole way through. Such an epic journey and so glad you made it to the camp in the end. Looking forward to seeing what comes next. Best wishes from the UK.
Thank you John! One of my best friends in the world is an ex saffa John in the UK actually! Busy with post production on the next series already, so you shouldn’t have to wait too long!
I just just got back from 4 days at Chikukwa (and met Meteus!!! What a gem!) I feel like none of the photos or videos I took did it justice - but this video does! It is the most mindblowing, spectacular places I have visited, and one of the few remaining near pristine places on the planet that we are privileged enough to experience. (ps - our river Musapa river crossing was a little more hair raising - we were apparently the first car to cross since the summer rains - but knew from what you'd shared on IG, that it would be worth it. It is the ultimate adventure :)
Tim - wow wow wow what an episode! That crazy drive in the dark what an adventure. Hope you make it back someday when there isn’t any smoke so you can really see the mountains as that place looks incredible. You really did save the best for last 👏👏👏
I really love the overland, in particular this region of Chimanimani... I follow you and this was one of your best videos. keep doing this great work and showing how wonderful is Africa. We will wait you in other wonderful adventure in Mozambique.
Oh man what an amazing video . The highlight of your video is the respect you have shown to all the people you have met on the way. That spirit of Ubuntu is all that we need. Big up bro, keep doing what you are doing.
Thank you, I don't believe anything is sustainable without engaging the community, it is one of the fundamentals this channel will be based around going forward, so I am really glad you notice and appreciate it!

Thank you Tim for this wonderful video. I was happy to finally see the video of Chimanimani, and also to see in your video my toyota LD 100 at the Ndzu camp where we met you for the first time, too funny, thank you again for your superb videos Thierry
Went on some school trips into the Rhodesian Chimanimani in the mid 1960's but never saw any roads quite like those ones. I think that the Vumba area north of Mutare is more picturesque but nothing like the extreme absence of human intervention that you experienced. Reminds me of watching a young lad in Vilancusa, Moz seeing a car and glass for the very first time in 1959! Now if you decided to walk from Walvis Bay, Angola to Sofala in Mozambique, well then we could all re-live David Livingstone's trek in 1855. Your Gorongoza video was great and looked much like what I remember of it in 1960. Looking forward to your next one, bravo.
That was one incredibly awesome episode. What an amazing experience and I absolutely loved the episode. Congratulations and I cannot wait to see your next adventure.
