The stock FD2R RRC Intake Manifold is one of the best manifolds for K series engines. You should go for a 3.5" Intake and a 3" Exhaust. People dont realise how much a K series breaths. Its crazy
The FA5 Hybrid Racing is 3.5" intake a 3" exhaust would definately help it breathe a little can't wait to k24 my FN2
I read some tests about exhaust manifolds about k series. And the rrc is as good if not better than aftermarket skunk2 and this kind of makes. I think it means they did a great job with the rrc. The rbc is not bad too but not as good as the rrc.
@@cebastienlarochelle8182 the skunk2 ultra is the good one the s2 Pro gets mopped by the rbc and rrc in most cases

The FD2 and DC5 shared the K20A engine, the FD2 had slightly higher compression which gave it a few extra ponies.
Nice build and seems like the dude loves his car 👌🏻 nice to see someone enjoying a drivers car for what it is and not trying to chase big numbers like most people do these days!

Wish we got the FD2 over in the states! I've got an FG2 with full bolt ons, the coupe Si version with the K20Z3 (FD2 came with the K20A). Been driving it since 2015 without a hiccup. Awesome platform.
Been running a dc5 for two and a half years, gets driven hard daily no issues or problems solid cars, either supercharging in the future or frankenstein'ing with k24 for more NA power

I've got a K24 in my FN2, absolutely love it but not gonna lie i'd much prefer it if it was an FD2. That cars amazing!!

Will be doin a k24 build next year for my ep3 but only will have a fully built bottom end high compression pistons valve springs and retainers drag cartel or ppr stage 3 cams :)

Well IS 300's aren't JDM, so technically that's not possible haha.
They are good cars though, cheap and lots of room for mods, if it's the sort of image you want then go for it.
I've driven one and they sound really good with an exhaust but a bit underwhelming to drive.

@@NZcarBlog Was thinking the same the CL7 is K20, CL9 is K24. There were quite a few others inaccuracies too in regards to standard specs of the FD2 K20 etc!
K24 fd2 swap right here so much different. Especially some headers from a k20 would not fit right unless you bang the firewall

He payed 800 quid for the engine but it cost 6.5k to get it in and tuned!?
And still only just under 300bhp
LOUi TUBE yes but the cost to get that power is rediculus u can get a mapped 535d or similar up to 400bhp for about 1000
Sam Not everyone wants a reeky, noisy smelly derv 🤢🤢 . Fair enough they are easy tuned and big torque numbers etc but nope.. I don’t see it, only thing derv cars are good for is for the daily drive IMO!! Yes it’s a lot of money to tune Na cars but for me personally it’s so worth it. Hard to beat a well build, high rpm screaming Na engine 😈 if everyone had your mindset there wouldn’t be any epic Hondas or other epic NA machines about, I’m a big Honda enthusiast and don’t mind throwing a few pound to tune my car the way I want it. I’m not being cheeky by the way bud. Each to their own and all that .

Colyers I think a lot of that noise is injector tick...maybe I’m wrong but that’s how it sounds
It’s the injectors, k series injectors are really loud

Just a quick question to Dan. Did you use the fd2 oil pump with a conversion kit cuz from what I know the stock k24 oil pump won't be able to feed enough oil at those high rpms

Cams, e85, hybrid intake and 3” exhaust all it takes for cams. Rrc intake manifold is the best flowing manifold don’t change it.

I’m guessing you’ve never heard of the boostedboiz? They rub the same engines but with turbos and they make around 700hp & they drag race them so the power can be put down obviously.

Was actually on he cheaper side of it to be fair man! All the little bits and bobs are what tallied up the most sadly but still a good bit of kit!
@@danwright5331 well I managed to swap a full dc5 running gear into my ek9 with engine and box refresh a 5.1 final drive and a few fancy bits like shifter etc for around 4 grand :/ were you not already running your k20a head ?
I am yeh it's the same head in the stock K20! I take it you did it all yourself? I don't have the capacity to do something like that myself hence I hafld some good friends store and build the car for me :)

The JDM engine blew up he now has more tourqe and power and easier to drive out of VTEC so it's a win all around. I reckon I would do the same if I was in the same situation

You're half right, up against some modern turbo'd DSG crap it will lose in a straight line drag, but Type R's are about stringing together bends & gear changes, driving pleasure. These FD2's are widely regarded as the best FWD chassis of all time.
