More proof that Judith Durham could sing any type of music ever conceived of. If she encountered a tribe of natives chanting in their native tongue, Judith could join in. Becoming one of them in unison. That was her greatest gift. Inclusion. Gospel, Opera, FolkMusic, Blues or any other form of musical expression. This is why The Seekers would have become pop music's greatest group had she not separated from them in 1968. Nobody else in Rock or Pop Music possessed such gifts!! Clearly she never craved the limelight. Even though she stood out from everyone else like a Lighthouse in a storm. The most engaging, humble and versatile artist that ever existed. And not likely to be duplicated in an era of self obsessed egomaniac and Diva Deluxes. Rest in Peace Judith Durham. The most unique performer of them all.
A voice straight from angels choirGod bless you Judith and thank you for being a part of my growing up days may you live long and continue to sing your praises you are fabulous
amazing grace is my favorite gospel song....she just does a beautiful job..no words...can describe...how beautiful this is to me...i am 70 years old..but her voice , her pitch, her tone...her feeling is just un mistakenly the most beautiful voice i have ever listened to..it doesnt matter what she is singing...she is just the best..and gets better with age..her concert is one i would be thrilled to see...
Her voice can magically take me to another time, my daughters blond hair blowing in the wind, her blue eyes and smile looking at her father, giving this man a hug that felt like pure gold. That is gone now, but this magic of song let's this father close his eyes and have her with me once again., thank you for this gift of having my Shelly once again.
No matter what gendre of music Judith Durham sings her voice is truely an instument of the highest quality that fans of any type of music enjoy the genious in that voice!! We love you Judith for the past 50 years of your remarable career.
That's awesome bless you Judith awesome thanks so much for your entertainment and the one before it was brilliant also they're all very good, this one is very special. Xxxx love this song Richard.
I fell in love with Judith in 1966. In 1968, when I was in college, I several times wrote "Judith Durham for President" on blackboards when no one was looking. I didn't care that she was not born in the USA. In fact, I still believe she would have made a better president than Nixon.
@@bryantlane8646 ., just listen, that Sepo isn't even close to Judith. The greatest ever has range , power, emotion plus, unbelievable vibrato. Karen is insipid! There is no Sepo that can come close to Judith!
This one just weakened me...THE BEST I'VE HEARD. I short changed myself in the 60s by not giving more attention to the Seekers. Judith Durham you are "AMAZING GRACE"
She signs this sogn so well , it brings tears to me eye , so beautifully sung she has a great voice . Bring it on Judith you are a great signer my God bless you .
Beautiful and very moving. She's practically singing acapella at the beginning and in perfect tune. If this is from 1994 Judith looks amazing. No other words.
This is the best ever rendition of Amazing Grace I have ever heard by anyone. I just heard her do Just a Closer Walk with Thee and then listened to Patsy Clines version. My guts have been pulled out. Judith is one of my all time favorites as are the Seekers. Can you imagine had Patsy and Judith been able to do some gospel songs together or both of them with The Kingsmen, The Oak Ridge Boys, The Statlers, The Palmetto State Quartet or Gold City? Perhaps America would be Lord loving again.
Carole Harrison Tied with Joan Baez, Dusty Springfield, Laura Nyro, Judy Collins, Eydie Gorme, Edith Piaf, Charlotte Church, Patsy Cline and some others.. ;-)
Her interviews reveal her to be a very ordinary person. Just like the rest of us. Not unlike some gifted singer in your local choir. By leaving the Seekers she was in a way running away from the demands of great fame, or being content with just being an outstanding soloist. But who knows.
I think she might have wanted children in the sense of that being what in her circles growing up was what a man and woman normally did. But not in the circles she remained even after going on her own. She was, of course frail and that might have played a part. But here I am playing the game of wanting to “know” a celebrity. that gives them such power over us.
+Semper Fi sorry for sounding like i would out rightly even think of comparing quality wise between any two great musicians , I've just recently discovered how beutiful Judith's voice is , but growing up i heard Joan Bias voice on the radio more often and i thought their tonal sounds perhaps even range were close. I am amazed of what i missed out on hearing Judith today. simply incredible!
There were a host of truly great female vocalists at their peak in the late '60's. Judith Durham, Joan Baez, Dusty Springfield, Judy Collins, Laura Nyro, and others. It was a great time. Joan Baez' voice today is nothing like it was 50 years ago, but she can still sing and bring greatness to a song. Judith is much the same way. Amazing. Joan made a number of recordings with her late sister, Mimi Farina who also had a fine and similar voice.
So many adoring comments here.... I feel I will be shot at dawn: I am a great fan of Judith...... But this left me a bit queasy. Not the Judith I love. Just not right.
It saddens me that in a comments column of a song celebrating love and goodness, John Cox was vilified for observing the effects of time. It may be that he felt Judith, although still great, was better remembered by the recordings made when she was peerless. I was fortunate to hear her live in the late sixties, and have all the Seeker's LP's, and understand that view. Arguably, the greatest singer of last century, Dame Janet Baker, retired from opera aged 50, knowing even at this early age, her voice although still wonderful, was in decline. Having defended John, I take the opposite view with a madman claiming Judith was a fraud, and that her voice was "manufactured" in recording studios. He calls himself stuart booee godfree jenkins, and I encourage all Judith's supporters to try and rid him from the comments columns of her videos.
+oswald wellman I saw the Seekers I concert in about 1964. We were in the stalls about row 10 and Judith's voice nearly deafened us without the need for any amplification. She is definitely no fraud, but only an idiot would suggest otherwise.
A sad loss...Now singing with the angels...
RIP, Judith. Gone to be with her Lord.
It's really simple, I, We love you Judith, its that simple!
One of the greatest of all time woman's vocalist

When you hear that voice, you feel her soul touch your heart. It absolutely wilts me, and brings me to my knees.
Magnificent rendition. It seems that any song she sings is better than the rest. Ah, that voice.

By Grace are ye saved and not that of works-lest any man should boast.
How wonderful. What beauty there is in that iconic voice, in that warm smile and that very pleasing personality.
Greatest female singer of our time. A true legend.

Amazing voice to fit an amazing song, she is a beautiful woman Inside and Out! I think you can all agree with me on that!
The story behind this hymn is amazing. With the gift that God has so graciously bestowed on Judith makes me PTL even more.
the greatest song ever written...in my opinion
+Tony Michael Ellis Yes! And there is an "amazingly graceful" story behind it and its writer John Newton too! :)

Best interpretation of this wonderful gospel that I have ever heard. Judith, wow, awesome. Please never stop singing for us.

Nah, no Sepo good enough. Judith could've sung with Dame Shirley, the only one in her league
judith durham greatest female singer ever,
Yep

+MiserableOldFart I consider Judith better than any of those singers
+Semper Fi You express your opinion so delicately.. I am charmed
+Semper Fi Yes, you can say anything you like, but it would help if you used correct English, even if you're from America.
Priceless!
Simply beautiful!
awesome interpretation!
very expressive like to see her get into it
Truly amazing.
Awe-Inspiring!!!
Better than Judy Collins, never thought I would say that
A voice like an angel, clear like the message from God as the song give us love ,peace and joy all in one
Pauline Herbert Angels are generally depicted as male... (Michael, Gabriel etc...) are you suggesting that she sings like a man?
Or With Dolly Parton on "Coat Of Many Colors"? Or Allison Krauss on "In The Palm Of Your Hand"? Judy Durham is simply amazing.
With Apologies to Lennon and MaCartney, Amazeing Grace is the Greatest Song about an English Tunesmith. And therehas been many.
By far, the best interpretation and execution available.
Diana Ross a good second.
Of course the arrogant Ms Ross would think she is the best.
Holy crap she just doesn't age
