HTC One M8 Android 6.0 - OTC capable. Needs a long press to select a file. This method only provides copying from the Internal to the thumbdrive, not the other direction. No transfer status indicator. I'll try a file explorer app too. But very quick to learn and useful.

Thanks. took a bit of hunting, but I found how to do it in Settings>Cloud and Accounts>Smart Switch. then click on the icon at the top right. this assume you have downloaded the SmartSwitch app for Samsung devices. It then queries if you want to move files to/from the phone. could not find a "storage and USB" option. what Android device do you have? it looks like an old one I have the J7 Prime

Help.. I once bought a digital recorder (which was Windows) & used my android phone as a middle point, moving it then onto a USB flash drive. Some time later I plugged the USB into a different phone & all the recordings & recorder software was wiped clean. I don't really understand the numbers associated with USB flash drives & thought it was that. I guess I am looking for a device that I can plug any USB port in & the software will safely allow it to move & transfer on, is this correct? Is this what I need??

I did buy the OTG, an the guy at Walmart even moved pics from my android... But before i delete pics in my folders, i wanted to make sure they all got copied. So i put the OTG in my port on my pc.
