- Floaroma Town: "Vivid & Scented". A place as beautiful as this one can remind us to be grateful for what's around us in nature. Who knows, maybe Shaymin will come along and make the flowers bloom :)

Very happy to be covering this beautiful tune from Sinnoh! This tune is another under-appreciated town theme that I don't think gets enough love, but unlike Canalave City, the Floaroma Town theme is used in another part of the game! If you were lucky enough to get Oak's Letter (I never did as a kid, I just got the Toys R Us Shaymin in 2008), then you would have heard this theme on the comically long Seabreak Path! I only ever saw the Seabreak Path when I got an Action Replay... so most of my memories of this song come from honey trees and the berry shop in Floaroma Town!
I wanted to arrange this song for a super lush orchestration and featuring one of the best clarinet players I know, Jose! I played with him at a friend's recital here at Berklee once, and I was blown away by his awesome tone and nearly effortless sound. I knew he'd sound great playing the lead part o this tune, and his parts turned out wonderfully! Along with the solo clarinet, I had the fortune of adding live strings, harp, and piano at a string session I did back in December, and I recorded drums and a saxophone section! Yep, I'm back playing alto again, I'm borrowing one from a friend at school to play in our school's wind ensemble, thought I might as well make some videos with it. The instrumentation ended up sounding wonderfully soaring, vintage, and cozy, which is what I was going for! In fact, there is no MIDI at all in this cover! I'm quite proud of that.
Mixing this cover, though, was a different story. Because of all the elements in this tune, and the difficulty that often comes with balancing very dynamic music, I had to spend a lot more time mixing this tune than I usually do with my music. When I shared a preview of this song on my Patreon Discord channel, my friend David commented that this sounded a bit like a Disney orchestra... so I actually used the Disney soundtrack "Up" as a reference mix! Up has one of my favorite soundtracks of any Disney film, mixing in some modern film scoring tropes with vintage jazz elements, so that worked pretty well at establishing a good goal for this tune. In the end, I'm pretty happy with this arrangement! I always want to tell a compelling story with my music, and I think this arrangement accurately portrays the peacefulness and happiness that I think of when I think of Floaroma Town!

Amendment to the video title card! This song was composed by Hitomi Sato, NOT Go Ichinose. Of course the one time I don’t do my due diligence and check the composer I list the wrong one. My apologies!
K
Maybe you should at least correct it in the description. ;)
Hi, Carlos! First of all, thank you so much for sharing your spectacular art. I know they are not video games but please cover the soundtracks of studio ghibli. They are beautiful songs and I am sure if you did a cover they would sound even more wonderful.
Diamond and pearl music just hits different 🤧
I agree it was the generation that I first played and when I listen to the music it just makes me feel calm, just something about gen 4s music
Scout The Spartan yes yes yes. Edit: Same btw
It’s the piano that brings out the nostalgia
Carlos, that tongue thing you did at the beginning will haunt me forever
Is his tongue indicating 32nd note triplets? We'll never know xD
a contemporary conducting technique
@@LiminalMashups 0:06
Flutter tonguing without an instrument! d:
If you articulate from side to side like that on a clarinet you'll cut your tongue like ham
When I first played Diamond, and I got to this town, I loved standing in the flowers in the back of the town. The swaying of the pixled flowers and the cute music in the back ground. I can never relive the moment when I was ten years old, holding my light pink DS in the middle of the afternoon in mid July. Laying on my bed hair pulled back and messy, looking at my character stare back at me. I want to feel the way I did back then. The smell of summer in my room. The drowsiness in my eyes after playing for so long. All the songs you and other who helped out, truly make me feel like I’m ten again. It’s nostalgic, but I’m experiencing something new. Just like when I was ten. Thank you.
Same.
Not all of it, obviously, but the parts about playing Diamond and standing in the flowers. Also, I was 13 and had a black DSi.
Never before has someone yelling "SMASH THAT LIKE BUTTON" actually led to me doing so.
Same😂
It works best when done ironically
That was too funny
Totally
This sinnoh year thing, will part of an album or not? You're giving me the best time of my life hearing this newly renditions of my favorite gen and games, I can't thank you enough for how the music mix so well with the jazz tunes, thank you so much!
el WirØ it will be part of an album
el WirØ It’ll be part of an album in the end! I don’t know how big it’ll get, but I’d like to do as many songs as possible that I like!
really glad to hear so, cant wait :)
@@insaneintherainmusic thank you so much, jubilife city and the National Park songs are my favorite, thank you so much for your dedication and passion, I'm hoping you keep giving your love for this games
insaneintherainmusic please put it on Spotify if you can I’d love to beable to listen to these all the time
"Jazz? Lots of jazz."
Exactly what we came here for!
i've seen you in a while now!😁
How to get my attention - No Sweet Scent or Honey needed!
1:42 That awkward look when you cross eyes with the camera 😶
I know that feel
@@insaneintherainmusic Does the abyss stare back?
Damn man, this is getting me in that chill mood. That mood where productivity is at its lowest, but that's a good thing. Sit back and relax to this music right here. This song should be on cereal boxes with the line, "Part of a nutritious breakfast!"
The girl’s reaction to the camera at 1:43 😂 I totally see me doing that
Same tbh
She's so cute!!
This has a very grand waltz feel to it, especially at the climax towards the end. Beautifully done!
1:43 loved her shyness! Amazing clarinet too!!
This is absolutely wonderful. This arrangement is so laid back, I almost fell out of my chair! Also, thank you so much for the inclusion of clarinet. It fits perfectly and Jose absolutely aced it with his solo. His tone is as smooth as a smooth rock and as soothing as a sooth bell! Nice to hear Yoko again as well. Her solo was equally as calming. I remember going through the flower meadow around Floaroma Town and looking at all the flowers and being so relaxed. I could live there if it weren't for pollen allergies, lol.
Thanks a lot Nicholas! You just made me think of what it’d be like to live in Floaroma Town with pollen allergies... yikes!
Nicholas Butler for a second I was like that doesn’t even make sense... and then I was like ohhhhhhhhhh
I’m allergic to pollen too. I think itd suck to life in Floaroma Town without taking allergy medicine. That in itself sucks. Floaroma town is such a beautiful town that I think every Pokémon fan would wanna live in
3:50 Literally I closed my eyes and teared up a bit. This was so strong. So powerful. This felt like genuine bliss.
THIS KISSED MY EARS
I was one of the people who managed to get Oak’s letter through the mystery gift, so i took the scenic route to Shaymin. This song brought back my memories of that time, when i went through the flowery path, and captured it.
Man, I love this. I played this game when I was 7 or so and had little to no respect for these slower songs. Going back and listening to these reimagined songs is like listening to them for the first time again. Thanks for doing this.
The concept of perfection: *exists*
Carlos: Check this out
Quite classical? Love the delicacy of this, reminds me of Tchaikovsky's waltz of the flowers!
Yeah, that sort of classical aesthetic was something I was definitely going for with this
I adore that clarinet, wow
1:43 what was SO CUTE omfg
Charles Overton's harp is about as enough to make you fall in love as a sunset over the cityscape at a café in Paris.
Aaaah this has such an amazing 40s/Disney feel to it like you talk about in the description. Being raised as a Disney fanboy, turn-of-the-century/40s-style music has SUCH a special place in my heart (this is coming from a guy who absolutely lost it when they chose to cap off the entire MCU Infinity Saga with “It’s Been a Long, Long a Time”)
This arrangement is pure magic. It’s an incredible mix of your own established Insaneintherainmusic style and a “turn of the century” style. I feel like I’m walking down Main Street, USA in Disneyland listening to a stinkin’ Diamond and Pearl cover (you’re killin’ me with the *double* nostalgia, man)! You’ve done it again; you’ve produced yet another cover that stands out as it’s own, unique thing among the others of your collection, and this one might just be my favorite so far (probably just my inner Disney/old-time musical fanboy speaking out)
The backstory of both Shaymin and the Gracidea flower was the first time Pokémon made me tear up. Thanks man.
Absolutely amazing! My Saturday started off poorly, I was in a bad head space filled with worry and stress. After the intro to this arrangement I was starting to relax and think more clearly, and now after listening to it more and more, I feel in a state of calm and bliss. Your arrangements an amazing way to start a Saturday the right way. I can definitely see myself listening to this all day now. And if you'll excuse me, I think I will.
Happy to have made your day better :)
Beautiful
We have to finish this off with the credits theme
I am planning to do so..!
Diamond and Pearl was what I started Pokemon with. This is amazing :)
Oooooh Yoko again! She killed the Fusion Ensemble! Really cool to get to hear her in another cover! Fun to have the Carlos Eine Saxophone Quintet make an appearance, too!
Really awesome job from arranging to production and everything in between! Respect the live drums again! It's such a great sound
Thanks for all that, Caleb! More cool stuff coming soon!
You had me at "Jazz Clarinet" :D
This is no slight to Mr. Aquino, but his play style more resembles that of a classical clarinetist than a jazz clarinetist. He's very straight-forward and precise.
Like button smashed
Many thanks comrade
That time when you're feeling low, chill vibes like these are just what you need.
Can you like a video twice? I think you should be able to like a video twice.
That lick the clarinetist played going up the scale was sooooo tasty! Made my heart tug! (2:30)
I love how the pianist puts her heart and soul into her playing... wonderful arrangement!
I can't help but feel like wanting to sit down on a rocking chair on a porch, and just thank God for the wonderful beauty of nature with this tune! This tune provides a lush and frothy stroll for the mind, filled with all sorts of beautiful colors. And, who doesn't like vintage-style jazz? Thanks for the awesome work that you do, Carlos!
Oh gosh, Floraroma! One of my favorite towns. I think it's where I finally got my first male burmy, and a lovely mothim some time afterwards. Definitely one of my fonder memories of Sinnoh!
I absolutely love how this feels. It's such a cozy tune, feels very domestic. It brings to mind a sort of fusion between Jubilife and Floraroma's more laid back approach to life. I'm not saying I was imagining a big city Jubilife guy falling for the guy that owns a flower shop in Floraroma while I was listening, but I'm also not saying I wasn't ;)
Around 2:50, I absolutely ADORE Yoko's expressiveness. You can super tell she's feeling the song, and she's having a blast with it. Brings a lot of unique life to the arrangement as well!
And at around 3:50, that whole next section really feels like a good climax for the song, followed by a nice slow conclusion. Jose's clarinet brings such a voice to the piece, it's a perfect choice of instrument for the main melody, and he plays it so wonderfully!
I'm super pleased with this video, and I'm really excited to see you keep growing and pushing your limits like this ^^
I'm not crying, I just have....really sweaty eyes
A beautiful rendition of a town known for its visually and olfactory stimulating town befitting this Valentines Weekend. Wonderful work by Jose on the solo~ Always love seeing clarinet prominently displayed in the pieces Much like a Shaymin, it really captures Serenity and Grace.
A clarinet focused piece finally. Now I can try to play since I don’t have a saxophone
Yes! And there’s sheet music for it too!
Yes thank you
I love the classic Disney / vintage Hollywood jazz orchestra feel! So lush and smooth 🥰
Floaroma town is definitely one of my comfort towns
This is great! The year of sinnoh is shaping up to be the most exciting despite the RL circumstances.
Really giving me some 60s movies vibes here.
So nice to see some jazz clarinet!
Yeah, I’m happy to give it some representation on the channel!
this jazz arrangement of floaroma town soundtrack is something i didnt know i needed
My God. Did I just waltz through a meadow on a lazy spring day? This one is incredible
That "When You Wish Upon A Star" part you put in there...pure gold!
The day all these covers gets released for an album I'm buying it. They've all been diamond and this one is no exception
Nice pun... and yeah, hoping to compile all these sinnoh cover into an album relatively soon!
Brings back memories of shiny hunting Shaymin
So soothing and relaxing to listen to. As a clarinet player, this is also pretty inspirational.
My goodness Carlos, you really surround yourself with brilliant players. Those solos were to die for.
I was swaying a little in my seat the entire time while listening to this... man, this was beautiful. Floaroma's always been a favorite of mine.
*BUTTERY SMOOTH TONE*
They just don't stop coming! Thanks for all the great music!
Floaroma Town has always been one of my favourites. Thank you, Carlos, for giving it an even better arrangement.
its amazing that he could schedule all those people together. thats the real talent here.
Scheduling... you are right. That was the real difficulty of making this happen, ugh
I love Saturday Pokemon Jazz🎷🎻 It matches my freezing sunny day.
My morning went really bad, but hearing this song really brightened me up. Jose sounds so legato and smooth, really meshes well with the ensemble. It's been a while since I heard a nice clarinetist focused piece, so I'm glad you are trying it out for this song :)
Oh my god. This was incredible. Diamond & Pearl were my grow up pokemon games and I think for many of the people watching this video. Great arrangement!
Ah gee, having a complete Year of Sinnoh Vinyl would make my lifetime. ♥
I could see Dimitri dancing to this.
Dimitri fe3h?
This is more of a Steve Rogers song... Ok fine, Claude at the ball too.
Who’s Dimitri?
@@moonlightfitz Fire Emblem Three Houses
if the sinnoh remakes do not have as much piano as these very well put together covers do i will riot
Those two dislikes must be from people who misclicked. No way in hell someone can't appreciate something this good and nostalgic.
Probably it was Team Galactic that disliked since they tried robbing the honey from the honey man, but got beat by Lucas
As a clarinet player his tone just makes me wanna stay in band and improve a lot
This is the most beautiful thing on the internet😔
This is very relaxing after the stressful week I've had at university. absolutely great song to wake up too this morning.
This has to be my favorite town music thanks so much for this
This piano solo gosh... Killed me
perfect for the begining of spring
Just sat here, my eyes closed, soaking in the music. This was beautiful!
Just wanted to say good job to everyone who contributed, exceptional rendition.
Once again with a classic to beat my nostalgia to a pulp, the whole Sinnoh soundtrack brings back so many memories and I couldn't be happier with how you've done it.
Thank you Carlos!
How do you decide what to play? Like do you listen through the whole soundtrack each time you go to make something new? Or do you already have them in mind? Beautiful piece, by the way. :)
Lots of different things can lead to that, honestly! For these diamond and pearl covers, I listen to the soundtrack and pick songs that would work well with certain ensembles that I have in mind. Sometimes, it’s just a creative idea that randomly strikes me...
Nothing but chills listening to this
The thoughts and memories of trying to get a Munchlax, without realizing how hard it actually is
Omg... I forgot about those awful memories. I never actually tried to get a munchlax, but I know some people who did...
Yay carlos!!!!!! The violinist smiled at the camera
1:42 when you see your crush... haha, Wonderful rendition of the theme! It's staggering the amount of effort you put in into realizing this... I bet Go Ichinose would be amazed... Cheers! :)
Thanks! Hope Ichinose gets to see at least one of these many videos...
Most overlooked town song ever holy shit. I never thought it could get any better but holy shitttt!!! Major props to you, this is gorgeous!!!
Harp in your recent arrangements has been such a treat.
YOO THIS ARRANGEMENT IS OUT OF THIS WORLD
This sound of Sinnoh is really nice! 🤩 clarinet solo sounds very good!
And we continue the year of Sinnoh with yet another beautiful song. I really love your covers dude, keep them coming please and thank you.
Bro you just have this flare that just makes all things you play amazing, no matter what you play. Well done!
Yo thanks so much! I appreciate that!
Man i'd love to dance to this with someone. It's so beautiful 😢
This is one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard, thank you.
Omega yes and Alpha hell yeah
YESYESYESYESYESESYESYE yeee I love this jazz clarinet oh my god so beautiful !!
And a calm conclusion.
That conclusion being YOU SMASHING THAT LIKE BUTTON
This is beautiful. It messes up with my feelings, but beautiful.
Floaroma has one of my favorite tracks
The clarinet reminds me of the trainyard from Unova! Excellent!
Wow, I totally forgot about that song...
So flippin underrated, this is absolutely beautiful ;-;
I love the passion you have for Pokémon music. Thank you for making the nostalgic sounds of my childhood come to life with this amazing orchestral cover.
God, it really really feels like an area full of all kinds of flowers and so comfortable that you could almost fly! AMAZING!
never heard the original. simply fantastic and composed well. played by fantastic musicians . swag
Man your music makes me cry
On loop since first hearing. Hundreds of hours as a kid just strolling through the region, walking into floaroma and feeling the serenity always set a tone to the experience that I can't let go of.
I always loved a few tracks in Pokemon D/P. This was one. Thank you.
My absolute go to for the finest jazz arrangements, Carlos.
Good sir, I’ll follow you anywhere. Absolutely fabulous.
Absolutely gorgeous waltz arrangement on floaroma town 😇 Really love it!!
OMG nostalgic
